Chapter 268 - Restarting the War: Incident

"Didn't Thor kill him?" Natasha thought of a terrible possibility.

"It's Thanos from Luke's universe!" Dr. Banner said the terrible guess that Natasha had in her mind with a twitch in his heart.

"Rods and Star-Lord didn't come back. Damn it! I knew it!" Rocket Raccoon took the weapon on his back. He had not been doing nothing during this period. He took out a loan and used Luke's laboratory to upgrade his weapons.

Everyone's heart sank again when they saw Thanos appear in front of them. Star-Lord and the others who went to look for the Soul Stone and the Power Stone must have fallen into Thanos' hands.

"You should have obtained the cosmic stones, right? Give them to me!" Thanos stabbed the Tyrant Blade in his hand into the ground and stretched out his hand towards Stark and the others.

"Do you think that's possible?" The nanoparticles on Stark's chest instantly covered his entire body like liquid metal. Thor's body was shimmering with wisps of fiery lightning, and the tip of his Stormbreaker pointed in Thanos' direction.

"Even for your companions, is it impossible?" Thanos threw out the fleet that he had brought here after being shrunk by Pym particles, and used a projection ball to project the captured figures of Star-Lord and others in front of everyone.

"One gem in exchange for one life." Thanos looked at the unpredictable struggling expressions of Dr. Banner and the others, a slight smile appeared on the corner of his mouth, and he stated his deal.

"This isn't like the Thanos I know." Dr. Banner shrugged with a wry smile, "This is too despicable."

"Perhaps you don't know me well enough. I don't know how I operate in this universe, but I've always been willing to use dishonorable means to achieve my goals. I repeat, I just want the Stones, which belong to our universe." Thanos whispered, "Hand them over, and your companions will be free, and your world will not experience war. Before you choose to resist, I suggest you think carefully about the consequences."

"I want to meet them first. Just a projection is not enough for us to make a decision." Stark looked at the projected images of Rhodes and the others, and a heavy tone came from the loudspeaker.

At this time, the sky was already dark, and the ceiling of the room was blown up by the fleet thrown out by Thanos, which had restored its original size and was suspended in the air, blocking out the sky and the sun.

Thanos looked at Stark who was speaking, turned around and snapped his fingers. Not long after, a tractor beam fell from the sky, revealing the figures of Rhodes and the other four who were tied up and controlled.

They were escorted by fully armed Zetatian soldiers and genetically engineered vanguards.

"Untie them." Thanos waved his hand, signaling the soldiers to untie the restraints on Rhodes and the others, and signaled them to retreat. "I will return them to you, and you will give me the original stone."

"Maybe we have a better way." Stark looked up at Thanos and said to him after seeing Thanos generously return Rhodes and the others and the scan revealed that the four people's vital signs were normal.

"That means I'll kill you again."

Stark's words seemed to have pressed the button to start the war. Thor, who had been impatient for a long time, jumped high with Stormbreaker in his hand, his body covered in dazzling lightning, and chopped down at Thanos.

"It seems that the negotiation has failed. But it doesn't matter, I'll play with you guys for a while." Thanos reached out and grabbed the Tyrant Blade at hand, and used it to block Thor's battle axe. The dazzling electric light illuminated his face, making it look a little light and dark. He seemed not surprised by the behavior of Stark and others, and said in a deep voice.

Gunfire, thunder, particle beams, a large number of attacks fell on Thanos like rain in an instant. However, except for Thor's attack, which he could block one or two times, the other attacks from Stark were simply ignored by the opponent.

The shells and energy beams attacked Thanos without even damaging the armor he was wearing. Thanos wielded the Tyrant Blade in his hand with great force, and in just a few rounds, he knocked Thor away.

Thor was utterly overwhelmed by Thanos's devastating onslaught, instantly transformed from attacker to helpless defender. A heavy shadow fell over him. This overwhelming, suffocating feeling was even heavier than the one he'd faced against Thanos.

"Be careful, he is more powerful than the former Thanos!" Thor subconsciously shouted a warning to Stark and the others after jumping out of the building that was smashed into ruins.

"You are too weak." Thanos punched Captain's shield as he rushed towards him. This shield, which was always effective in Captain's hand, could not perfectly absorb the damage caused by his fist.

The captain's bones almost cracked with a sound, and he was knocked flying.

Boom boom boom!

Dr. Banner, in Hulk form, rushed forward and slammed his clenched fist into Thanos' face, one punch after another. However, the next moment, Thanos caught Hulk's fist in his hand. As Thanos exerted force, a look of pain appeared on Dr. Banner's face.

"Your strength could be even greater. This amount of force isn't enough to defeat me." Thanos dropped the Tyrant Glaive and punched Dr. Banner in the head. Dr. Banner staggered, and Thanos rushed forward, delivering a few clean punches, knocking Dr. Banner, in his Hulk form, to the ground, staggering and unable to get up.

As Thanos turned to retrieve his Tyrant Blade, four metal objects resembling shackles, trailing flames from their backs, seized the opportunity and latched onto Thanos' wrists and ankles. Powerful magnetism attracted the shackles, locking the structure together. Thanos's limbs were pressed together, his massive frame hunched over. But before anyone could even register a flicker of surprise, Thanos' brute force shattered the shackles.

He tore the locks from his limbs, then crumpled the metal into a ball in his palm and threw it at the feet of Stark and the others as if insulting. While picking up the Tyrant Blade that had fallen to the ground, he said calmly: "Don't play with such children's toys. These can't hurt me. Except for the prince of Asgard, you can't even break my defense.

I'll give you a chance to struggle and resist, and I'll do my best to keep you alive. Before your home planet is destroyed, you'll have enough time to choose whether to continue or terminate this war. I only want the raw stones!"

As Thanos' voice fell, the Dark Quadrant motherships in the sky, as if receiving an order, began to advance towards various parts of the world. Hidden gun ports opened, and a large number of Chitauri and Vanguards rained down from the various ships. If there were satellites monitoring the area, they would have seen the vast number of Dark Legion soldiers spreading from all directions like a black tide, heading towards the surrounding cities and regions.

Stark's intelligent system presented the images monitored by the sky satellite to his eyes almost in real time.

Dense rain of light poured down to the ground from the muzzles of the alien ships. The flames and mushroom clouds rising into the sky spread rapidly and raged around in a ring shape like an air mass swept up by a storm.

This scene instantly made Stark's chest swell with anger. He unlocked all his weapons and equipment almost instantly. The Stark satellite in the sky projected one weapon assembly box after another towards the area where he was. All kinds of weapons, under Stark's control, covered the area where Thanos was in an instant.

Rays of light, light bombs, and high-explosive bombs blew away several layers of the ground in Thanos' area. The ferocious firepower raged for over ten minutes. By the time the explosion subsided, the thick dust that rose up almost obscured the area within a hundred meters. The shockwave from the explosion directly collapsed all the surrounding buildings.

Dr. Banner was like a thick wall, protecting Natasha and the others as they retreated to a relatively safe area.

"Is it solved?" Looking at the thick dust, Natasha frowned and asked while performing battlefield first aid and bone setting for the captain.

Stark, who was floating in front of them, did not answer her, but just looked warily into the depths of the dust.

The blazing thunder flashed in the dust again, and then Thor was seen flying backwards again with lightning all over his body. His back was like a stone skipping on the water, floating on the ground twice in a row, and finally rolled in front of Stark and others, with his limbs spread out, facing the sky, and lying on the ground in a big letter shape.

Heavy footsteps emerged from the dust, and Thanos' tall figure appeared at the edge of the dust. Stark's fierce firepower attack that lasted for more than ten minutes only made him look a little embarrassed.

"Is that the only way?" Thanos looked at his unharmed body, then cast his gaze at the Stark group standing opposite him, as well as Thor who was standing up shakily with his hands on the ground, pointing the Tyrant Glaive at Stark and the others, raised his eyebrows slightly, and asked contemptuously.

"Damn it, are all the people in Luke's universe perverts? Each one of them is so strong that it's like a monster! He was already a monster, but the Thanos in Luke's universe is even more terrifying than the one on our side." Rocket Raccoon complained unwillingly while holding his weapon.

"I've heard my mother explain some things to me. The opponent's life has obviously been upgraded. The attacks of mortals may be useless to him." Thor clenched the Stormbreaker in his hand, as if only in this way could he draw power from this weapon.

"What should we do then?" Natasha, Rhodes, and the others frowned. This meant their numerical advantage was meaningless to Thanos. Their attacks would be insignificant to him, perhaps not even the sting of an ant.

Thinking of this, even the most resilient people couldn't help but feel a sense of powerless despair. They once again felt this despair in the same enemy, and this time the despair was even deeper than the one they had felt in Thanos.

At least with the last Thanos, they could still fight back and forth, even if they were at a disadvantage. But the one before them, although he didn't possess a single Cosmic Stone, nor had he used the power of any of them, the sheer violence and power he displayed was quickly eroding their will to resist.

"It takes higher-quality energy and attacks to threaten him, and it seems I'm the only one who can do that here." Thor tightened his grip on the Stormbreaker. He no longer even considered Dr. Banner, who was always in Hulk form, as someone he could rely on.

"Higher quality energy attack?"

Seeing Thor roaring forward, desperately engaging Thanos in battle, everyone was silent. Stark muttered to himself. He remembered the bottle of incredible liquid he and Dr. Banner had obtained from the data dimension. And the memories instilled in his mind just happened to provide the knowledge to maximize their use.

"Build a new Ark engine on Friday," Stark ordered his intelligent system. He could have studied how to utilize this precious energy fluid in a better environment and at a better time, but the current situation forced him to make a choice.

Thor fought against Thanos madly, but Thanos' attack made it difficult for him to resist. After his axe was easily blocked by Thanos with the Tyrant Blade, Thanos's combat boots had already kicked him hard in the chest.

Thor's body flew backward like a cannonball, collapsing several buildings in a straight line. He felt his heart nearly stop from the kick. If it weren't for the powerful thunder force swirling around him, stimulating his muscles and organs, this kick might have knocked him unconscious.

But his situation was not good now. He felt like the muscles of a mortal being trampled and hit by a group of elephants. He was lucky to be alive. His muscles were sore from the violent collision with Thanos, and even his muscle fibers seemed to be broken. Blood was oozing from his nostrils, ears and mouth. Asgard's powerful body self-healing ability could not recover for a while after the frequent heavy blows.

But he knew that he was the only one who could stand up and fight against Thanos. Once he fell, they, including this planet and this universe, would have no power to resist.

However, just as Thor gritted his teeth and used his Stormbreaker as support to stand up from the ruins, a strange feeling and energy suddenly enveloped the entire battlefield.

Thanos, who wanted to deal with Thor, also felt this energy. He turned around in surprise and looked at Stark, who was emitting that strange energy, with a deep gaze.

Stark, who raced against time to create a matching new Ark engine using nanotechnology, felt something surprising about what was happening to him at the moment. He felt that some kind of power was constantly flowing into his body. He felt that his brain had incredible computing power, and the machines in his perception seemed to have life.
