Chapter 117 - The Tragedy of the Hand [2]

A flying shield twisted in the air, hit three ninjas, and bounced back into Steve Rogers' hands.

The agents behind him immediately unleashed a web of spider silk, binding the fallen ninjas. As they struggled, they simultaneously administered anesthetic injections. They were using previously captured ninjas for their experiments, and had specifically increased the dosage to a level sufficient to affect their mobility. While even with this increased dosage, the ninjas could be quickly forced back to normal, the agents wouldn't give them that opportunity. They simply knocked them unconscious.

"I've only slept for a few decades, but how come I can't understand this world anymore? Where did all this come from?" Steve raised his right hand holding the shield, blocking a blow from a ninja that suddenly appeared from the air, punched the man in the chest, stepped forward to pin him down with his shield, and the agent in charge of cleaning up behind him immediately stepped forward to provide one-stop service.

"I'm a little confused too." Hawkeye Clint Barton shot a ninja down from mid-air with an arrow and replied to the captain not far away: "Before this, I participated in a war between humans and vampires. That was even more magical."

"Stop chatting, we need to rush into the villa and capture the leader of the Hand as soon as possible. According to intelligence, they have been staying in this base most of the time these days." Agent Natasha, dressed in a tight combat uniform, used her expertise in close combat jutsu to remove the limbs of a ninja, then threw him to the cleaning team of agents, and said to Steve and Clint in front.

Steve and Clint looked at each other after hearing this, then rushed towards the villa.

Grant Ward suddenly leaned forward, and a long sword with a sharp blade flashed across his bent back. Grant did not wait for the ninja who was attacking from behind to launch the next attack. After the blade flashed, he stood up again like a spring, and with an elbow, he hit the ninja who was rushing forward from behind and could not stop in time, causing him to see black. Then there were four unreasonable gunshots, breaking the opponent's limbs directly at close range.

"Look, while you can cut through bullets with swords at a distance, guns are still somewhat effective at close range." Grant shrugged. He felt his condition was better than ever, his body brimming with strength. He glanced at the metal wristband on his right wrist and marveled. Such an ordinary-looking wristband could actually give him such a significant boost in strength!

While it wasn't as dazzling as Stark's Mark suit, Grant truly loved the feeling of his body brimming with strength, his reflexes dramatically heightened to an inhuman degree. He felt omnipotent, like a superman! The feeling was intoxicating. Even though he had only just begun wearing the metal wristbands, surrounding the villa were hundreds of other carefully selected agents, like him, wearing them. They served as a first line of defense, firmly blocking the ninjas' attacks and saving the cleanup team from numerous casualties.

Inside the villa.

"Come on, someone stronger!" Thor roared, and with one blow of his hammer, he smashed a ninja into the air, causing him to spit blood. After falling to the ground, he slid away for a long distance. This was because Thor had held back a lot, not daring to use too much force, for fear of killing the opponent directly.

In the few minutes since he'd rushed into the villa, Thor felt like he'd stumbled upon a ninja den. Groups of ninjas appeared out of thin air like magic, stabbing him in the guts with their knives. Their actions were so cunning and stealthy that Thor initially felt a bit put off, but he quickly adapted to their fighting style with incredible speed, going from a bit of a slump at first to mastering it with ease.

Thor might not be good with his brain, but when it comes to fighting, he says that ten Lokis tied together wouldn't be enough to defeat him head-on with a single hammer. His battlefield instincts and experience, combined with his natural fighting talent, allow him to quickly adapt to various combat styles and deal with all types of enemies.

Well, as long as the other party doesn't use those messy and fancy spells.

Five or six ninjas rushed forward, desperately grasping Thor's arms and thighs, their knives piercing his flesh. However, the blades pierced through his clothes and sank deep into his skin, encountering immense resistance. The ninjas were horrified to discover that their knives felt like they were piercing solid granite, requiring immense effort to penetrate even a fraction.

Thor had five or six pendants hanging on his body. He spun around twice but failed to shake them off. When he looked up, he saw another ninja throwing a handful of quicklime into his eyes.

No martial ethics!

If Thor knew the word, he would have roared. But at this moment, he only felt a sting in his eyes, and a lot of tears gathered in his eyes, and he could not see clearly.

"Despicable warrior."

Thor felt two more knives pierce his thighs, and a chill ran through his body. He roared in anger at the ninjas' unscrupulous tactics. Intense lightning swirled around him from the hammer. The pendant on his body twitched under the intense lightning attack, loosening its grip and gradually dissolving into ash, disappearing.

"Damn it! How can they even use the power of beasts?" Inside the villa, Alexandra, a high-ranking member of the Hand who had been observing the battlefield, had a gloomy expression. Qi, dragon bones, and beasts are the three foundations of the Hand. Those ninjas were carefully trained and specially selected, perfect carriers of the power of beasts! To master this power, they paid many invisible costs.

But what about those SHIELD agents on the other side?

Just a few days ago, they were helpless against their own ninjas. Beyond their tactical prowess and combat experience, they possessed nothing special. Faced with the ninjas' assassinations, these SHIELD agents were completely at a disadvantage and passive. How could they suddenly possess and control this power that shared the same origins with the ninjas after these few days of silence? Although it seemed somewhat paradoxical and incongruous, Alexandra trusted her perception. Even if it had changed its appearance, it had to be related to the beast!

Could it be that S.H.I.E.L.D. has also begun to believe in beasts?

Beast S.H.I.E.L.D.?

This is ridiculous! Even if those agents were carefully selected elites, there's no way they could master the power of the beast to such a proficient degree in just a few days!

"That intruder with the discharge of electricity is about to approach us. Should we ask Heikong to stop him?" said Mrs. Gao, another senior member of the Hand.

"Retreat." Alexandra closed her eyes. SHIELD's sudden change in strength had truly caught them off guard. Judging by their actions, it was clearly a long-planned operation. Most of the ninjas had their joints removed, making it difficult for them to even bite their tongues to commit suicide. Of the four hundred or so ninjas stationed at the villa, more than half were nearly wiped out. This was a significant loss for the Opponents Association. After all, as an underground organization, amassing this small pool of personnel required a significant investment of time and resources.

"Something must have happened to S.H.I.E.L.D. that we don't know about. How did they gain control of the beast's power? Is what appeared before our eyes all they have?" Madame Gao said as she followed Alexandra out of the room. "We need to find out what happened to S.H.I.E.L.D."
