"Tell me, what's the matter?" Nick Fury got off the helicopter and appeared in the Hebron reception room. His first words were straight to the point.
"There's a piece of news I don't know whether I should tell you." Luke blinked, looking very hesitant.
Nick grinned and sneered, "Little Luke, stop being so mysterious. We're all very busy. Did you know that I postponed at least three department meetings and online meetings with two congressmen just to come see you? Tell me, what do you want me to do for you this time? Let me make it clear, I can help you, but this kind of help should be two-way. If you can't give me something in return, at least you should pay me!"
SHIELD is not your tool."
"Do you know a wizard?" Luke asked straight to the point.
"Watt?" Nick's smiling face froze.
"Do you know a wizard? The kind that can cast spells." Luke said as he gestured with his hands.
"Little Luke, let's hurry up and stop playing such meaningless jokes on me. I don't think there are wizards in this world. If there were, they would have been discovered long ago. We have investigated some so-called magic masters, but in fact they are really just scammers. After so many times, we at S.H.I.E.L.D.... What the hell?!"
Nick was still talking, until he saw a golden holy light emerge from Luke's hand. Under his single eye's gaze, Luke cast this golden light into his body. It was a soothing sensation, like a hot bath, soothing and nourishing his weary body and mind. Even the accumulated internal injuries healed under the nourishment of this light. Nick felt his body relax more than ever, his spirits invigorated. He felt like he could defeat ten burly men with a single punch.
"What is this?" Nick widened his single eye. If he hadn't felt so relaxed and agile, and if the feeling of his much younger body hadn't been there, he would have thought he was dreaming.
Rejuvenating a person's body, or even recovering from hidden injuries, wasn't a problem. Nick knew many technologies could accomplish this, and Heberon happened to possess one with minimal, if almost no, side effects. But that was a scientific achievement! It wasn't something Luke could achieve with a casual outstretched hand and a flash of golden light!
This is so magical! It doesn't fit the reality at all!
"I call it holy light. It's a type of energy currently unknown to humanity. If the vampires' power belongs to darkness, then this should be its opposite. It's a positive force." Luke looked at Nick, who still looked puzzled, and reminded him, "Don't think of it as the electricity or other energies you know. Let your imagination run wild."
"So, what does this have to do with mages?" After a moment's silence, Nick looked up at Luke and subconsciously asked. "Are you trying to tell me that you're a mage? That you're part of their group?"
"How could I be a wizard?" Luke took off a metal ring on his hand and threw it to Nick, motioning him to put it on.
Nick nimbly caught the ring thrown by Luke, and at his signal, he put it on his own hand. Then he found that there seemed to be some kind of extra power in his body. He subconsciously mobilized it, and his right hand with the ring suddenly emitted the same golden light as the one on Luke's hand before.
"I'm a little confused." Nick immediately realized that Luke's magical scene wasn't because he was a superpower or anything else, but was closely related to the ring he threw. As for where this ring came from? Nick also wanted to know, so he asked immediately: "Where did this ring come from? A relic of the wizard? Or a gift from the wizard?"
Nick gave his own guess in his words.
"A technological creation." Luke answered readily.
"A technological artifact?" This time, Nick's eyes widened. "You said, this is a technological artifact of Heberon?"
"You can understand it that way." Luke nodded.
"How much is the price? How many orders are needed?" Seeing Luke nod, Nick instinctively wanted to go through the process. He felt this thing would be very useful! More useful than those self-healing potions! Although he didn't know exactly what this golden energy could do, the mere fact that Luke had demonstrated it could heal was enough to make him envious.
Who among the secret agents doesn't have injuries and bruises? Even if this thing has no other uses, it's enough to be a favorite of the secret agents!
"Who said I was going to sell you out?" Luke looked at Nick in astonishment.
"Then what do you mean by taking this out?" Nick rubbed the ring on his right hand with his fingers, reluctant to take it off. Although Luke signaled him to return it many times, he pretended not to see it.
"Just showing you."
Luke's words made Nick's face darken even further, and he put the ring on tighter.
"Let's get down to business. What evidence do you have to prove the existence of wizards? How much do you know about them? Do they pose a threat to world security?" Nick hid the ring calmly and walked away from Luke's sight. At the same time, he changed the subject seriously and asked Luke seriously.
"It's hard to say where the information came from. Just think of it as the last contribution of an old bat before he died. I don't know much about them, but judging from the intelligence, they've existed much longer than S.H.I.E.L.D. and even this country. When it comes to maintaining world security, they're the pioneers." Luke blamed everything on an old bat who was already dead and whose essence had even been condensed into a crystal.
"Maintaining world security? They?" Nick's eyes were solemn. "What kind of world security are they maintaining? Are they preventing wars, or alien invasions? Or something else?"
"The old bat has lived long enough, so he knows a lot. Especially during his active period. He told me some secrets of the world. For example, the other two names of this planet - Midgard and Midgard. One of the nine realms, a transit point." Luke said calmly under Nick's dark face.
Nick's expression was no longer dark, but rather gloomy. He naturally had his own channels to verify Luke's claims. After all, he knew the names Midgard and Midgard, and his agents had even come into contact with the prince of Asgard, one of the so-called Nine Realms. This seemed to confirm the authenticity of Luke's intelligence.
