Chapter 73 - Quiet and Unyielding

A mass of orange-brown mud-like substance was lying quietly in a sealed tempered glass jar.

"It's an alien creature. In its own words, it named itself Anjing. It accidentally landed on our planet aboard a human return capsule. They are parasitic creatures, and they enjoy parasitizing intelligent life. Besides learning knowledge and obtaining food from them, they also enhance their hosts' qualities in various aspects."

Gwen Stacy looked at the wilted symbiote Anjing in the glass jar with some concern, but she still told Anjing the information she had learned about the symbiote as concisely as possible. Although it was strange to have such a strange thing inside her, the other party acted harmless and could talk to her about anything, which made Gwen feel strangely like a friend.

Although she felt like she was crazy the moment she had this thought.

"Food?" Tilda Jensen, who came with Gwen, narrowed her eyes.

"They feed on human emotions," Gwen replied. "Its taste is for joy, especially the joy that comes from knowledge."

"This is a major discovery! An extraterrestrial life!" Tilda was intrigued, her intense gaze causing An Jing to shrink within the glass jar. Unfortunately, she was busy with her own project and didn't have the time or energy to study such a valuable alien creature. This left her with a deep regret.

Luke looked at the muddy symbiote in the jar in front of him, and he felt a lot of interest in this group.

For ordinary people, a symbiote is a powerful aid that allows them to instantly transform into a superhero or supervillain. In some ways, the symbiote is even superior to Tony Stark's current Mark series suits. Unfortunately, the symbiote's shortcomings are as obvious as its advantages.

It is afraid of fire and sound waves.

It can influence the host's behavior and thoughts. If a symbiote's previous host was a ruthless villain, its personality will automatically align with that of the host. If the symbiote and host agree, then everyone benefits. If not, it's easy for two minds to clash within the same body, fighting for control.

Therefore, generally speaking, symbionts will choose a host that suits their taste, unless they have no other choice.

Are symbionts worth studying?

There is no doubt that it is worth studying.

Any scientist who sees this thing will want to try it out.

"What do you want to do with it?" Gwen watched Luke stare at the jar for a long time without saying anything. After a moment's hesitation, she interrupted his thoughts and asked him what to do with the symbiote. She had mentally prepared herself for Luke to force his way through, but he didn't give her the answer she expected. Instead, he kicked the ball back.

"What do you want to do with it, Miss Gwen?" Luke knocked on the glass jar, and the symbiote inside squirmed quietly. "This was taken from your body, and it seems to get along well with you. In this sense, you are the one who has the right to make choices for it. Of course, I can use some high-sounding words to remove its ownership from your hands, and no one can say anything, but this is not my style."

"What is your style of doing things?" Tilda asked curiously.

"It depends on who I'm dealing with." Luke glanced at Tilda. His bottom line was flexible depending on the person.

"Then, can I take it with me?" Gwen asked tentatively. She didn't know why she was doing this, but inexplicably, she felt that she shouldn't let him leave her. This seemed to contradict her behavior today, but it was the truth.

"Of course." Luke nodded. "But before you take it away, can I communicate with it for a moment?"

"I don't know if it's possible, but I can try." Gwen thought for a moment and replied. She was ready to serve as a bridge of communication.

"Should we let it out now?" Gwen glanced at Luke. Although she felt An Jing had acted harmless throughout, and even when it was taken out of her body, apart from a slight resistance in her consciousness, she didn't put up much of a fight, but what if it got angry after she let it out? After all, it was a dangerous alien creature.

Luke gestured for permission. In his own lab, he wasn't afraid of a symbiote messing around.

Gwen stepped forward and unscrewed the top of the glass jar. The symbiote that was like a pool of dead mud before entered, and the moment the top was opened, it appeared from the bottom like a 100-meter sprint, with countless small tentacles clinging tightly to the glass wall and climbing up quickly. In the final stage, it almost jumped and couldn't wait to pounce on Gwen's arm, wrapping her right arm completely, and then quickly penetrated into the inner layer of the skin, and disappeared in front of Luke and the other two, and merged with Gwen again.

"Don't call me it. According to your accurate name, you should call me she!" An orange creature with a head of the opposite sex, held together by many tentacles, emerged from Gwen's body, half-suspended in mid-air, and aggressively corrected the way Luke, Tilda and the other two had addressed her.

"Or a lady?"

"We don't have gender, but we can have our own gender identity." The symbiote said quietly: "I know you want to study me, but that's impossible. I recommend you find other symbiotes. They came to this planet with me. Those are bad guys. If you can deal with them, the symbiote community may thank you."

"I can pay Miss Gwen." Luke was not surprised by An Jing's resistance. He went to a storage area in his laboratory and took out a palm-sized, round, white spray bottle.

"That's her own business." An Jing hesitated for a moment, then raised her head and refused, "Miss An Jing never gives in."

Luke walked to Gwen and sprayed the synthetic agent in the small spray bottle in his hand directly onto An Jing's face.

"What are you doing? What did you spray on me? Oh, this is delicious, I've never tasted this way! Give me some more!" An Jing, whose head and face were covered with atomized synthetic agent from the spray bottle, was first annoyed, then confused, and then happy. Her exposed body was shaking comfortably, and every tentacle seemed to be dancing happily. The high sense of satisfaction was clearly sensed by her host Gwen.

"Well?" Luke asked again with a smile, "Can we talk about research again now?"

"An Jing will never surrender!" An Jing shouted at first, then looked eagerly at the small white spherical spray bottle in Luke's hand and said submissively, "Only if I get free food and shelter."
