I opened my eyes and found myself still on the cold floor where the girl, Laila, had dragged me. The stone beneath my palms felt rough, grounding me in this unwanted reality. I stood up abruptly, but the movement tore through me with sharp distress. The boy's body was weak and the reminder struck me like an insult.
