It was almost laughable. They were the ones who betrayed me. They sacrificed me to save themselves, setting me up as their scapegoat. After treating me like a forgotten son for years, this was how they ended it. This was their final strike of selfishness? Casting me out completely as if I had never been theirs to begin with?. Unbelievable.
"That cannot happen, Lady Ariadne," a sharp voice cut through the murmurs. "You are the Alpha's foster mother. You cannot take the boy under your wings. What do you wish to do? Adopt him?
