Chapter 9 - LIAH??

"Are you okay??" He asked again

"Yeah I'm fine" I answered avoiding his eyes.

We both entered the hospital ward, already at the receptionist's office requesting the drugs. When I turned, Axel was gone.

He probably wouldn't even notice I left.

I walked to my dad's ward it was supposed to be a private room, but he wasn't there anymore.

"Hey, I'm Calliah, and my dad was in this room. Where is he? Did he leave?" I asked

The nurse stared at me, trying to remember who I was and she did, probably because of the rumors.

"Oh… his bills were getting too high, so we moved him back to a normal room," she said, locking the door.

"So where is he now?"

"Second ward on the third floor."

"Oh, thanks." I ran toward the direction she gave me. area.

I couldn't bring myself to go inside. I froze at the corner, watching my dad coughing loud and badly. My mom, who had been sleeping, woke up and patted his chest gently.

"You're okay liah?"deep voice asked, standing close to me.

The voice felt familiar. I could feel the height difference and his reflection showed on the transparent door.

Those dull eyes… his messy hair… his lips.

 "Liah??" I whispered, turning around.

"Is that calliah " my mom asked standing to check

"My princess here?" Dad's weak voice followed.

I couldn't do anything . I don't want them to see me but the same time I want them to do. I wanna hug and cry In their arms but not now I'm not fit for that.

 "Calliah" mom opened the door

"I'm..." before I could finish, a large hand covered my mouth and dragged me toward a corner close to the room. The other hand pressed against my belly.

Mom stepped out, looked around, and went back inside.

His hand stayed firm one still over my mouth, the other now resting on my waist.

I raised my head despite the height difference and stared into his eyes cold, unreadable, emotionless. Just pure control.

"Th" I tried to speak, but the tears broke out instead. I threw my arms around him.

My grey eyes poured out everything.

He brushed my tears away, his fingers sliding to my cheek, then pressed his hand softly over my chest.

"Shh… don't show your emotions out," he whispered, patting my back gently.

I cried on his shoulder for a long time before I managed to calm myself.

"You're fine now?" he asked.

"Yes," I whispered.

He handed me a napkin.

We walked out together, but he told me to wait in the car said he had something to do at the hospital.

A few minutes later, he came in and started the car. We drove off in silence.

"Can you drop me here?"

"Are you sure? It's unsafe."

"Please."

He didn't reply we just kept driving until we reached home.

I unlocked the door with my key. The mansion was quiet too quiet. Even if you dropped something on the floor, the whole building would tremble.

"This is my house," I chuckled softly.

He followed me in. His shoes clicked against the marble floor. He said nothing just moved silently behind me.

"This is my living room," I said, forcing a small laugh.

Still, no reaction just that calm, cold stare following me around.

"Would you like the elevator or the stairs?" I asked, turning around.

"Your choice," he replied

I dragged him toward the elevator and pressed the button. It didn't open, so he leaned closer, his hand brushing mine as he pressed it and the doors slid open immediately.

"Seems like my house has fallen in love with you," I joked, laughing awkwardly.

The elevator carried us upstairs. The house looked like a castle big, endless rooms everywhere. Everything was here: a cinema, gym, everything… except one thing.

My family.

"What's that?" he asked.

"Oh, that's my dad's private room where he keeps his company documents. But it's no use anymore. Zane already took everything."

He glanced at the room his green eyes flickered once.

After showing him around, he stayed quiet the whole time.

"So, are you leaving? You're probably busy running your clubs and hotels. Why aren't you managing your companies?"

He gave a short laugh, low and sharp.

"Seems you know a lot about me."

"No. I actually know nothing. You're supposed to run your company, but here you are… helping. I want to know more about you."

"You can't understand me," he said coldly. "I have a past that doesn't fade. The more you try to know about me, the more you'll regret meeting me, Liah."

"I'm sorry for asking too much," I whispered.

He ignored me again.

"I'll stay with you tonight."

Him here? That didn't sound bad.

We entered the room.

"You're not going to sleep in that, are you?" I teased.

"Is something wrong with that?" he asked, voice low.

"Yeah," I chuckled, "let me get you some clothes."

He pulled off his suit, revealing his broad chest and abs, and walked toward the window.

"Why are you staring outside? Nobody's here apart from us," I said but he didn't move, still watching silently.

My dad had three rooms one for him and Mom, one personal, and one for his clothes. The closet room was near his private office, between the two.

Axel followed behind me, still shirtless, only wearing his trousers.

The heat from his body brushed against mine every step we took.

When we entered the room, I switched on the light and pushed him toward the mirror.

"You're too tall," I muttered.

He looked down at me, unreadable.

I pulled open my dad's wardrobe and grabbed a shirt.

"If my dad were here, I'd be dead," I laughed, shaking my head.

"It's a night, not a year," he said flatly.

Then suddenly, the main parlor door burst open five men dressed in black, armed with guns and knives.

"Zane sent them," I whispered, my heartbeat going wild.

"Let's go up she's upstairs, the lights are on!" one of them shouted as they ran for the stairs.

"We need to leave, ASAP!" I yelled, but Axel's face stayed calm too calm, like he didn't care.

"Axel, this isn't the time for your dullness! We need to jump down! It'll take them time to reach here!" I shouted, running to my dad's window. The height terrified me.

"Shh," he said, lifting me easily and carrying me to the wardrobe.

"What about the light?" I whispered.

He gently laid me inside.

"What about you?" I asked.

"I'm meeting them."

"What?! Are you insane? Get in now!" I pulled him inside with all my strength I didn't even know where it came from, but I was glad it did.My breathing was rapid, but he was perfectly calm.

The men entered.

"Someone was here look, clothes on the floor."

Oh no… I forgot about that.

"That means they're still here," one said, pointing at the wardrobe.

Oh no… they're going to find us.
