Two and half years pass as I go through the motions as a baby too a toddler, teething and learning to walk were a painful experience and talking is hard so many questions I have yet while I know many words my mouth can't seem to keep up.
"Father magic! Magic!"
I yell this as I try to climb into his lap in the dining room after breakfast grasping my hand like mother does when ever she wants to make light or fire.
"Hahaha hold on lad let me help you up first"
Respen laughs heartly as he picks me up and places me onto the table next to a big tome with fancy elegant writing on it, this was a elvish written book I was learning the words with mother writing like my parents is hard but fun.
*Father please teach me magic*
"Magic, teach please"
I say although in my mind it was better presented in a year my I should be better ate conversations, I look around as the Blue mana i used to see everywhere had become less visible not because the mana was getting weaker no I had learned to focus less on it so I could see the world better after all seeing normal colours with constant blue covering everything was quite distracting.
"Alright son settle down and let's see if you can learn the basics of magic. Where to begin hmmm? Right Nathraval the world is made up of to major energies Mana and Qi and they exist in everything and person as faur as we know and being able to sense these elements is the first step do you understand"
I look at father while raising my hands i look at my left hand "Mana" and look towards my right hand "Key" the i look back at dad and I smiles.
"Not bad, now nearly everyone in our city use Mana except a few that use Qi and there are separate names for those who use these energies the first are Mages they use Mana and the others are Cultivators they use Qi"
My Father looks at me to see if im paying attention.
I nod my head "Mages use Mana, Cultivars use Key" I smile while thinking *when will I learn how to use Mana why can't I use it but see it*
"How mana use?" I say as I look from the book to my father.
"How to use Mana?" Well first you need to be able to sense mana when you breath can you feel a minor tingle a bit like this?"
My father picks up the feather brush he writes with and gently tickles my nose with it causing me to giggle.
I take a breath and don't feel anything apart from my chest rising and falling so I repeat this in a steady motion my eyes slowly closing while I try to feel this tingle feeling after a few minutes my mind drifts i too the stories from my past about storing the mana from breathing into a core part of the body but where?
Will I slowly breathed in and out my father watched in silence only looking away as the door to the house opened
"Shhhh Mer, our son is concentrating or fallen asleep hehe"
Merlara who had just come home from shopping looks at her husband and son sitting at the table from here she could see the child steady breath and slight flickering of the eyes under closed lids
"How long has he been trying to sense mana dear"
She inquired as she started to place the food for the next few days away before joining the father son duo at the table looking at her son she could feel the mana moving in and out through his breath
"About 7-9 minutes now im surprised most kids would lose interest after a minute or two but Ra ra seems to really want to use mana"
I as my parents whisper i focus purely on my breathing while I can't feel a tingle like father said I feel a light scratching like a something trying to get in from outside? I focus on it more intently and imagine it running from up my chest towards my left hand and when it feels like it's at in my inclosed fist I imagine it getting warmer like that gentle fire light orb my mother makes all the time when it gets dark.
"Hmmm"
Silence falls over the elf couple as they suddenly focus on there son they can feel the mana building up in the little palm of his left hand as they watch in astonishment as the young boy slowly rotates his hand and suddenly flicks open his palm and a large Blue glowing light appears bathing them in a gentle warm aura.
"By the world tree!!!"
Exclaims Respen shocking the boy into opening his eyes. It's at this moment the boy feels the warmth from his hand and sees the Blue Light Orb
"Why Blue?"
I say as I look at the Light orb above my hand and while looking i see more Mana focused around my palm much like when my mother use the same spell at the same time i can feel that the scratching has gone and been replaced with a gentle caress and when I think about it I can freely move the mana around in my body.
"Nathraval you went beyond sensing mana and cast your first spell im so proud of you"
Mother reachs over and drags me into her arms pulling me into a hug and distracting my thoughts about the light which promptly puffed out of all the mana freely returning to the world, she strokes my head as she hugs me repeating how proud she is of me.
*what, what is this*
I think as tears slowly well up in my eyes. I haven't done anything wrong why am I crying what is this feeling in me heart why are there memories of a Blury man looking at me with Anger no disappointment in his eyes who is he.
"Aww there there, no need to cry your a good boy we never expected you to be able to feel mana on your first try it usually takes a few weeks of practice and even then to cast a spell you must have a talent for magic"
My mother tries to console me while my thoughts race in confusion.
*Talent im not talented all I did was mimic you and it worked i still don't know what I did*
Respen looks at his son in his wife's arms shakes his head in before ruffling the boys hair.
"You were only meant to try and feel the mana boy, we haven't even gotten to the part about using your imagination for spell casting or even about chanting to help with the visualisation of Spells. Stop crying we are proud of you, Still why was the light Blue? Dear do you have any idea?"
Merlara shock her head while pulling a handkerchief from thin are and using it to dry her sons eyes.
"Wah Hankie?"
I reacted suddenly to my mother pulling the hankie from what looked like a Square cube floating next to her that swiftly disappeared from view.
*What was that cube and how did mother pull that handkerchief out of it and why haven't I seen it before?*
As I had these thoughts I felt a wave of exhaustion roll over me and feel asleep.
