Chapter 9 - Six Months

Six months later.

In Dean Tunguska's residence, Locke, Patty Issa, and Cord Newman were sitting together and studying.

Since the magic teaching resources in Aurelian College are very limited, even if the three of them want to take different courses, they will be taught individually by Dean Tungus.

However, Locke couldn't say anything about it. After all, the magic stones needed for his classes were also discounted.

The course that originally required an investment of more than one hundred magic stones now only requires ten magic stones, so it doesn't matter if the teaching quality has some minor flaws.

By this time, Locke had become familiar with Patty and Code.

Both of them are students from common families, and both have wizard talents. Patty has a level 2 wizard talent, while Code only has a level 1 wizard talent.

Code is an ordinary boy with red hair and pockmarked face. He is taciturn and seems difficult to deal with, but in fact he is just not good at speaking.

It only took Locke one day to successfully break the ice with him and become familiar with him.

Code has a simple family background and is a simple person without much.

His parents were serfs of a viscount lord in the Kingdom of Aaron. By chance, the viscount noticed his talent for learning. After passing all the exams and receiving education from famous teachers, he finally came to the Aurelian College.

It turns out that there is a reason why his learning ability is so strong. He has the talent of a wizard, although it is only at the lowest level.

According to Code himself, after drinking the elemental emerald potion, the elemental light spots he could see were very rare.

Patty is a girl who is cold on the outside but warm on the inside.

Otherwise, she would not have helped Locke who sought help from her half a year ago.

After the three of them got to know each other, their relationship became very good, and in the eyes of other students in the college, they had become a small group.

When Code was studying magic control, he suddenly asked Locke a question. After getting Locke's answer, he said admiringly: "Locke, you are really smart."

"I've been learning for over two years, and you've quickly caught up and even surpassed me."

Patty on the other side also showed admiration.

In general, these two people are ordinary academic masters, and naturally admire students with good grades and smart minds.

Locke nodded slightly and rotated the ring inlaid with dark blue gemstone on his thumb.

It only took him three months to catch up with Patty and Code's learning progress, and then another three months to surpass them.

There are many reasons for this.

First, Locke's wizard talent is level three, which is a lower-middle talent, better than Code and Patty's talents.

His basic learning speed is actually at least three to four times that of Code.

Moreover, the gap will only get bigger in the future.

Just like a snowball, at the beginning, perhaps low-qualified wizard seedlings can catch up through hard work, but the gap will only get bigger and bigger.

This made Locke understand why wizards attached so much importance to the talents of young wizards.

But there's actually a second reason.

Locke looked at his thumb. Six months ago, he discovered that by synthesizing sapphire to the fourth level, he could synthesize [Deep Blue Gem].

Later, he asked someone to make a ring out of the deep blue gemstone, and while wearing it daily, he discovered what it meant to make the fluctuations of mental power more stable.

Wearing this deep blue gem can make your daily mood stable and your attention more focused. The time you can concentrate every day is more than doubled, and your learning speed is at least doubled.

It was thanks to the deep blue gem that Locke was able to catch up with Patty and Code's learning progress in such a short period of time.

Of course, Locke also discovered that the deep blue gem is actually a consumable item. One deep blue gem can only be used for about half a month.

Therefore, he needs to continuously synthesize level 4 sapphires.

In addition, Locke also tried to synthesize other synthetic items, but other synthetic items, after being synthesized to level 4, only became more exquisite and more expensive, and no special effects appeared.

This meant that Locke no longer lacked worldly money.

However, Locke has only discovered one synthesis formula that is useful for the path of a wizard. This is to use three level 3 sapphires to synthesize a deep blue gem.

Locke was not in a hurry about this matter. He had too little contact with the wizarding world and had not left the Corfu continent, so the resources he could access in this low-magic area were very limited. He believed that when he really arrived in the wizarding world in the future, he would be able to discover more useful synthesis formulas.

The Horadric Cube can at least ensure that you don't lack resources.

Just like, he is currently using the deep blue gem to increase his learning speed.

In Dean Tunguska's residence, Patty said to Locke, "By the way, Locke, I don't think you know yet, but Angel, the one who was always pestering you, is dead."

"He died more than five months ago."

Locke was stunned for a moment. He had been immersed in the joy of learning during this period, so he really couldn't remember who Angel was for a moment, but he soon thought of the girl who was cheated by Professor Olde like himself six months ago.

Locke nodded slightly. "I reminded her."

"But she didn't listen to me."

Patty said, "Teacher Olde has been going too far these days. Those who died were children of noble families after all. Isn't Teacher Olde afraid of anything happening?"

"Dean Tungus said he was a second-class wizard apprentice. He's already 150 years old, and has reached the end of his lifespan."

"That's why he used magic to borrow lifespan from those ordinary students."

Cord blushed and said, "But I don't like this."

"How could he do that? Many people, without even knowing anything, had their lives borrowed by him."

Locke nodded and said, "Let's do our own thing. All we have to do now is study."

"I think the academy will have its own arrangements for Olde."

Professor Old obviously doesn't have much time left and is now on the verge of going crazy. I dare not interfere in this matter.

Patty suddenly spoke up, "Do you think we'll end up like Professor Older one day? The very person we once hated the most?"

Code opened his mouth, wanting to say something but stopping himself. He thought of Professor Old's increasingly crazy expression recently, and when he thought about the possibility that he might become like that in the future, he felt a little scared.

Patty laughed instead. "I was kidding."

"What's with that expression on your face?"

Cord was already frightened by her, but she actually laughed. "We're still young. By the time we need to worry about our lifespan, we won't know how old we will be."

Locke glanced at her and remembered that Dean Tunguska had told him that Professor Old's original wizard qualification was level 2.

One level lower than himself, the same level as Patty, and one level higher than Code.

Locke looked at his textbook and came to his senses. After six months of dedicated study, he had already laid a certain foundation in magic, which was no longer the same as before.

"I can already start growing magic vines."

"Cultivate magical vines, then use magic to transform them, creating a resonance and synchronization with my magic power. Through gradual practice, I will be able to master my first cantrip spell model - Hand of Vine."

"However, there are no magic vine seeds on Corfu Island. I can only buy seeds from Dean Tungus. Since this is one of the five magic models prepared for the wizards of the indigenous people of Corfu Island, Dean Tungus must have the corresponding magic vine seeds."

But judging by the tone of the academy, I guess these vine seeds will not be provided to me for free.

I guess I'm going to owe another sum of magic stones.
