Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Iron Man Tony Makes a Dazzling Entrance

Every person has their purpose. And as long as Wilson Fisk stays alive, he remains valuable to Rory.

He could invest in Rory's lab, procure rare materials, provide legal cover identities , all crucial resources.

Rory had no desire to play the hero or champion virtue. In a decaying society, clinging to "kindness" was nothing short of foolish.

Are gangsters bad? Sure. But that's just the surface.

The true rot lies with the politicians perched at the top , and the capitalists endlessly bleeding the system dry.

For people at the bottom, survival is the only thing that matters.

If Fisk was a tyrant, then Daredevil was a Confucian scholar , and not even the useful kind, but the idealistic type who thought he could redeem everyone with words.

And Frank? He was the embodiment of Legalism , the brutal, old-school kind. One mistake meant death. Kill a few to warn the many. No appeals, no redemption.

The Next Morning

After a passionate night with Vanessa, Wilson Fisk rose early.

Vanessa sat up in bed, pulling the blanket over her chest. She didn't ask where he was going , just gave him a soft look and asked, "Why don't you stay for breakfast?"

Fisk adjusted his cufflinks and smiled warmly. "I've got a reservation tonight at George's. I wonder if the beautiful Miss Vanessa would do me the honor of joining me?"

"I'd love nothing more," she said with a playful smile.

Fisk leaned down, kissed her forehead, and left the apartment.

His luxury car was already parked outside. He climbed in and headed straight to Brooklyn.

Upon arriving at the designated location, he sent Rory a text. Minutes later, Rory slid into the passenger seat, wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses.

A vial of serum was handed to Fisk.

"This is what you wanted," Rory said. "There's a secret agency sniffing around lately , I can't show my face. I've already sent you the instructions."

Fisk nodded and carefully stowed the vial in a protective container.

"Thank you, Rory. You're my best friend."

"Of course. Friends are supposed to help each other." Rory's tone carried a hint of something more.

Fisk didn't dwell on it. After parting ways, he and his driver headed straight to a factory on the outskirts of town.

The moment they entered, surveillance systems secretly installed by S.H.I.E.L.D. detected movement. Alarms lit up on a screen inside the Triskelion's monitoring department.

"Director Hill! Someone just entered the facility!" a S.H.I.E.L.D. technician reported.

Maria Hill grabbed her tablet and hurried to Peggy Carter's office.

"Director Carter , take a look at this!"

The footage on the screen showed Wilson Fisk powering up the control console.

Peggy frowned. "That's not Rory?"

The moment she saw Fisk approaching the equipment, she gave the order: "Alert Steve and Tony. Tell them to move in immediately."

"Yes, ma'am!"

Back at the factory, Fisk had already stripped down and stepped into the energy conversion chamber. He slotted the serum into its holder and instructed his driver, "Pull the main lever. When the reading hits 200, stop. Got it?"

"Yes, boss."

Fisk inhaled deeply. "Do it."

The driver pulled the lever, and the machine began to hum.

Lights on the console flickered wildly as arcs of electricity crackled through the chamber.

Zzzzt… Zzzzt…

The electrical surges intensified, making the driver instinctively back away.

"Ughhh!!"

Even though Fisk had undergone a prior enhancement, the process still hurt , just not as badly as before. It was still within tolerable limits.

Just as the machine reached its peak output, the roof of the factory suddenly exploded.

BOOM, CRASH!

With a gleaming red-and-gold suit and a textbook superhero landing , one knee down, fist to the floor , Iron Man had arrived.

A moment later, the roar of jet engines echoed outside. A S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet landed. Captain America and a squad of agents stormed the factory.

Fisk's driver drew his pistol on instinct,

Clang!

Cap's shield slammed into his back, knocking him flat.

"Stay down," Iron Man said, his metal boots clinking as he approached.

The driver groaned, "I want a lawyer!"

Tony couldn't have cared less. "That guy inside , who is he?"

Just then, the glow inside the chamber faded. Its doors hissed open, and a heavy foot stepped out.

Wilson Fisk looked visibly more massive. His clenched fists crackled as he flexed.

"This… this is power!"

The strength coursing through his body was nothing short of explosive.

"Sir, please raise your hands," Tony said, fumbling a little through official procedure. "We suspect you're, uh… involved in the development of biological weapons. Thanks for cooperating."

It was his first mission as a S.H.I.E.L.D. consultant , still getting the phrasing down.

Fisk finally noticed all the people in the room. The red-and-gold iron suit. The man in blue with a shield.

"Who the hell are you?" he asked coolly.

"Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. S.H.I.E.L.D. for short. We're asking for your cooperation."

Fisk blinked… then his face twisted in rage. "You're here to arrest me?!"

Without hesitation, he grabbed the energy chamber next to him and hurled it at Iron Man.

BOOM!

The chamber shot through the air like a missile. Tony hadn't expected him to strike so fast. By the time he reacted, it was too late , he was slammed into a wall, the chamber embedding itself deep into the concrete with him inside.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Fisk charged. The agents opened fire.

He instinctively turned and shielded his face. A few seconds later, spent bullets rained to the floor around him , completely flattened.

The rounds hadn't even pierced his skin!

Not even Steve Rogers could tank bullets like this.

"Hahaha!!!" Fisk let out a wild, manic laugh, reveling in his newfound invincibility.

While the serum was derived from the one that created Captain America, there was a vast difference in their conditions pre-enhancement.

Think of it like building a skyscraper , the stronger the foundation, the taller the tower.

Before the serum, Steve was a scrawny recruit who couldn't even complete a two-kilometer run. Fisk, on the other hand, was already nearing the peak of human physicality.

Steve had lost from the very starting line.

And this was Fisk's second enhancement. Naturally, the results were even better than the first.

Captain America charged in and landed a clean punch across Fisk's jaw.

Smack!

The hit didn't hurt much… but the insult level? Off the charts.

Fisk swung back.

CLANG!

Blocked by the shield.

He pressed the attack. Steve held the line.

Round after round, Steve couldn't do real damage, and Fisk couldn't crack the Captain's turtle shell.

Then, suddenly, the embedded energy chamber exploded outward.

Iron Man burst free and rocketed toward Wilson Fisk.
