Chapter 81 - 12. Supervisory duties

Unfortunately, there are no erotic elements this time.

Holy Land Mariejois

Five old men in this place also known as the center of the world.

They were called the Five Elders and were responsible for discussing the situation in the world and giving orders to maintain order.

"...The Tag Tag Fruit, Monkey D. Luffy?"

"That hero is apparently Garp's grandson."

And the topic of their current discussion was the name of a certain adventurer who had suddenly come forward in the Eastern Blue.

The family name was familiar to them, and it was a factor in their evaluation.

"A Devil Fruit with no records, huh? According to reports, it rewrites the information of matter."

"The problem is the scope and the danger. Depending on the circumstances, it could even turn the world upside down."orderrule

The Gura Gura no Mi of Edward Newgate, also known as Whitebeard, one of the Four Emperors, is said to have the power to destroy the world.

Due to the existence of a certain song, the Utauta Fruit requires the owner to prepare for the destruction of the world.

Nika, the model of the Human-Human Fruit, who has the name of a god and is said to have the power of that god.

The Ope Ope fruit is said to grant immortality in exchange for the user's life.

Even with just one Devil Fruit, there are many that have the potential to destroy the balance of the world.

For this reason, the World Government kept any fruits with such potential stored and continued to monitor those with the ability.

However, this Devil Fruit is completely unknown even to the Five Elders, who know all of the World Government's information.

Given that the content involves "rewriting information about matter," it is easy to imagine that if misused, it could turn the world upside down.

"...I can't just overlook this."

"Ha! Ha! Ha!"

Rogue Town in the East Blue.

The Great RouteGrand LineThis town is famous as the gateway to the Pacific Ocean, and as such, pirates often visit it as they make their final preparations.

To that end, Marines train day and night to capture outlaws.

"Ahh!!"

The only person wielding a sword at the training center is the Navy Headquarters Sergeant Major, the No. 2 officer at this Navy branch station.

The stroke of the sword is beautiful, and anyone who handles a sword can see that it has been cultivated through hard work.

"You're doing it again, Sergeant."

"Yeah, well, the Colonel will take care of it all anyway."

"Now that I think of it, yesterday they said they'd captured the remnants of Jesus' forces, right? It seems they were subdued by ordinary people."

"Seriously? Isn't that your goal? Maybe that's what your current position is all about? Like, you're a woman, so you can seduce people with your sex appeal."

"Ugh...!"

The Marines were chattering away behind Tashigi's back. Unfortunately, they didn't have the same ambition as Tashigi, and only joined the Marines because the pay was good.

Furthermore, Smoker, who had worked his way up through the ranks to become a captain at the Marine Headquarters, had never allowed a pirate to escape from Rogue Town, so he had no sense of danger in battle or respect for his superiors.

The Navy is also a meritocracy.

Because of this, men tend to be more likely to advance in their careers, and people like Otsuru, the wise chief of staff, and Hina, who has the ability of a devil fruit like Smoker, are treated as special, and it was common for Tashigi, an officer, to be looked down upon.

"...Ahhhhh!!!"

It was a world beyond his reach with mere physical strength. Smoker would have been able to capture him in an instant.

One could make the excuse that there are walls that devil fruit users and non-users cannot overcome, but Garp, known as a hero of the navy, and Iska, a female vice admiral, are both non-powered individuals who rose to the top.

She doesn't envy him, but she does envy him. It's something that can't be helped as a human being, but the earnest Tashigi can't accept it.

"...Ah..."

In a fit of emotion, he swung his sword with all his might, only to find that it had just swept away the water, and he finally realized that it was raining.

Yesterday we were busy dealing with a sudden storm, but the rain that had stopped this morning and had just started falling again did not seem to be an emergency.

Before I knew it, the Marine who had been gossiping was gone.

"Huh..."

As the rain poured down, Tashigi felt as if even the tears of frustration were being denied by the rain, and she was overcome with misery.

"Where have you been, Tashigi?!"

"Ha! Sorry, I got caught in the rain during my self-training and was changing!"

When he returned to the police station after receiving an emergency call, his boss, Smoker, yelled at him.

All the Marines except Tashigi had already gathered, and among them were some privates who were chuckling at her for being late.

Smoker simply clicked his tongue in response to the report, and Sergeant Mashik began his story.

" You all have heard that the pirate fleet Don Creek has returned to the eastern seas after an incursion, and today it has been spotted heading out again!"The Great RouteGrand LineThe Great RouteGrand Line

Mashikaku's words send shockwaves through the group. Don Creek is one of the few pirates with the military might to challenge the East Blue. The Great RouteGrand Line

Mihawk, one of the Seven Warlords, encountered him and nearly destroyed him in battle. There were reports of him being spotted in the East Blue, but he was surprised that he would challenge him again after being defeated once. The Great RouteGrand Line

"The town is now on high alert! All units, please remain vigilant!"

Being wary of a bigger figure than ever before. This might be a situation that would motivate someone with ambition and a sense of justice like Tashigi, but sadly, this is not the case for many.

There are only two ways to land in Rogue Town: on the rocks away from the town or at the port in front.

Don Creek is a pirate, and also known as a coward with the nickname "The Sneak Attack."

To do this, they split into three squads, with Smoker guarding the rocky area, Tashigi in charge of the front, and Masikaku guarding the entire town just in case.

"Ugh, why are we doing this in the rain?"

"It's so hard..."

"There! Don't let your guard down!"

However, the recruits were not feeling tense and were probably naively thinking that the pirates would not come, so they were chatting away in front of their superior, Tashigi.

However, even when he was warned, he just said, "Yes, yes, Sergeant!", showing no sign of remorse.

If this had been a "man" like Smoker or Mashikaku, would things have been properly controlled?

There's no point in thinking about it, but it still crosses my mind.

"Huh...?"

Suddenly, Tashigi looked out over the harbor and noticed a ship. The sails were folded so the markings were not visible, and there was nothing written on the flag.

The ship was anchored at the edge of the harbor. There were other ships there, so it didn't seem strange, but I felt a strange sense of danger.

"You guys, please fix that ship."

"Huh? It looks like just a private ship."

"That's an order."

The unmotivated and sloppy recruits head to the ship, not hiding their reluctance to follow orders.

However, the sense of crisis is not subsiding but rather growing.

(What is this feeling? Something about that ship?)

However, I don't know what it is. I try to make them cautious, but it doesn't seem like they'll be convinced by excuses like "woman's intuition."

So I was on guard alone.

"---!!!"

By the time they realized it, it was too late. There were cannons on the deck of the ship, and by the time they realized they were aimed at them, the ignition holes had already been lit.

"All hands evacuate!!"

"Huh?"

How many Marines had heard Tashigi's words, or sensed the danger of an attack on Rogue Town that day? At the same time as he grabbed the hand of a Marine nearby and flew away, the thickest spot the Marines were guarding came under fire.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!"

Tashigi's screams and the groans of the Marine she was protecting were drowned out in the blast.

Somehow, I managed to force myself to let go of my screaming body and get up, only to find that so many men were heading towards me from the ship I was on guard against, it was impossible to tell where they had been hiding.

The man at the front, clad entirely in golden armor, had a face I'd seen earlier.

"...Don Creek...!!"

"Ha, you're lucky to survive, little girl. Well then, you bastards! Take everything from this town!"

"I'll stop them here! Can you help me...?"

Tashigi tries to create a defense line, fearing that the residents will be in danger if they are allowed into the town. However, when she tries to order the Marines she protected earlier to provide backup, they are nowhere to be seen.

"Hahahaha!! That bastard you just protected would have given up and gotten on that ship!!"

"What!?"

Don Creek, laughing hysterically, points at a regular sheep boat, not a naval vessel.

It was unclear who owned the ship or where it was from, but it was definitely a desertion in the face of the enemy.

"Damn it...!"

However, Tashigi cannot run away. She readies her beloved sword, Shigure, but the tip of the sword trembles.

"Hahaha! Hey, your hands are shaking! Women should be feminine and do what men tell them to!"

"...!! I'm a Marine!! I won't do what pirates tell me to do!!"

Despite Tashigi's encouragement, Creek and his subordinates still laughed, but then Creek pulled out a gun from somewhere and pointed it at Tashigi.

"Then die!"

"Huh!"

"[change]"

A gunshot rang out and a bullet hit the wall that appeared in front of Tashigi.

"What?!"

"Yeah?"

Neither Tashigi, Creek, nor the subordinates around them knew what had happened.

Then Creek notices a man on the deck of the sailing ship where the Marines had earlier fled, and he points his gun at him in a panic.

"You!! What are you doing!!"

"Just passing by. [All Control Change]"

"Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!"

When the man activated his power, Creek and his subordinates collapsed, covered in blood.

At that moment, Tashigi heard the sound of hard objects colliding, and when she looked closely, she saw that the rain that had been falling had turned into hard stone.

"Uh...hey, are you okay?"

"Um... ah, you were yesterday..."

There was Luffy, the rookie adventurer who had helped me yesterday.

Luffy stepped down from the deck to the port and said "[Change]," causing the wall in front of Tashigi to disappear.

"Guu... you...!!"

"You're as tough as you look. [Change]"

"Guh?!"

Creek tried to stand up, but fell down as if being held down by something.

He struggled to get up, but couldn't move, as if the armor he had been wearing had suddenly become heavy.

Tashigi was stunned by the situation in which so many people were subdued in an instant.

"...Ahaha... You're strong."

Not only had she done nothing, but Tashigi's hands were trembling as she held onto Shigure, realizing that she had almost been killed.

But Luffy said, "You too."

"It takes a strong person to stand up to this many people."

"...But I couldn't do anything."

"Tashigi!"

"Ah... Mr. Smoker..."

Hearing the sound of artillery fire, Smoker brought his troops in. Seeing his men safe and Creek and the others lying on the ground, Smoker's eyes widened.

Then, when he saw Luffy standing next to Tashigi, he seemed to understand something.

"I see... so you took control."

"Yeah. Is that bad?"

"...I never thought I'd see the person everyone's talking about in the East Blue."

When Smoker said that, Tashigi looked at Luffy and asked, "Rumor?" Then, as if remembering something, she cried out, "Ah, ahhh!!!"

Yes, that was a name I'd heard before, and it was the hottest topic in the Navy right now.

"The adventurer who defeated the most wanted man in the East Blue, Saw-tooth Arlong, and Captain Kuro, who was hiding out three years ago, pretending to have been executed?"

"ah"

When I replied in affirmation as if nothing had happened, Tashigi's mouth dropped open.

Including Krieg this time, he has taken out three famous pirates, meaning he is earning more than a mediocre bounty hunter.

" I heard he was coming, but I never thought I'd actually get to meet him."The Great RouteGrand Line

"We were actually planning to set sail as soon as the rain stopped, but when that thing came on board I wondered what was going on."

Luffy pointed to a Marine. His face was swollen, but Tashigi realized it was the man who had run away in front of Krieg.

However, Smoker, who was unaware of this fact, seemed puzzled and asked, "Why is his face swollen?"

"I heard a sudden explosion, and then he got on board and said, 'Get the ship out!' Thinking he was a bandit, I refused and he started to act violently, so I beat him up. ...Maybe it was a bad idea? It was self-defense."

When Luffy remembered this, Tashigi suddenly came to her senses and defended Smoker, saying, "He abandoned his mission and tried to steal a civilian ship and escape! It's not your fault, Luffy!"

After hearing the story, Smoker held his temples and said in exasperation, "That's enough, I understand."

"Mashikaku, begin capturing these guys and treating the injured immediately. Also, investigate the damage caused by their sabotage."

"Oh, me too."

"You're treating your wounds. At least be aware of your own condition."

When Smoker pointed it out, I noticed that blood was coming from my head.

He then said, "Once the treatment is finished, you will be on standby. There is no work to leave to the injured," and took command of the scene.

"... Understood."

"......"

News quickly spread throughout Loguetown that the famous Don Creek had been attacked and captured.

The residents were terrified by the imminent danger, but praised the Navy for containing it - though this praise was quickly dashed when Smoker declared, "It wasn't us Marines who captured them."

"Ahh!! Hah! Fuh!!"

The training grounds of the Navy branch station have been cleared out due to a major arrest. As the rain that began falling in the afternoon gets stronger, Tashigi, with her head wrapped in a bandage, swings her sword with all her might.

Those who knew her normally might have thought it was just part of her regular training, but her expression showed she was desperate and was definitely doing something reckless.

"Ahhhh――!!!"

Perhaps his recklessness was too great, as he let go of his sword, which was important to him as a swordsman.

Tashigi watched her beloved sword, Shigure, roll away with a loud noise, her breath rising as her hands trembled, losing their grip.

"Haa... haa... haa... aaaahhh!!!"

Tashigi's cries fade into the rain. In frustration, she slams her fist into the ground.

However, it wasn't powerful enough to dig into the ground, and the accumulated rainwater just splashed up.

"You look frustrated."

"!? Luffy-san..."

Standing there holding an umbrella was Luffy, the man who had helped me yesterday and today.

I wondered why he, an outsider, was there, but then I remembered that I had gone to the police station to be questioned regarding Creek's arrest.

However, it was a humiliation for Tashigi right now to be protected by him, who was supposed to be a citizen she was supposed to protect.

"...It's pathetic, isn't it? A woman, protected by civilians, trying her best, but still a weak marine...!"

"...There are strong women in the Marines too."

"I know that!! But I can't be like them!! No matter how hard I try, I'll never be able to help anyone!!"

"Maybe I can help."

Luffy said in shock, picking up Shigure, who was lying on the ground. He then folded his umbrella, put it on the ground, and swung his sword - but Tashigi saw that it was a completely unpredictable movement.

The way he holds it is messy and there's no technique to it. It's just like swinging a wooden stick.

"I can't use a sword, I can't predict storms by looking at the weather, and I'm a terrible cook. Isn't asking someone to help you do something you can't do yourself?"

"...things I can't do."

It suddenly made sense to me. I can't capture enemies like Smoker can, nor can I subdue them like Luffy can.

But Luffy says there is something he can do.

"...Luffy, what do you think I can do..."

"I don't know. You're the one who has to find it, right?"

With that, Luffy handed Shigure to Tashigi and went back inside the police box.

Tashigi, who was left behind, clutched the Shigure that had been handed to her and muttered softly, "Thank you."

"..."

the next day

Rogue Town was sunny and sunny, a stark contrast to the past two days.

The town was bustling with activity, with housewives hanging out their piled up laundry, children happy to finally be able to play outside, men hard at work, and marines bustling about cleaning up after the previous day's attack.

"Colonel Smoker, I'm sorry for leaving you yesterday."

Tashigi went to the police station and immediately went to her boss, Smoker.

There is still a lot of hustle and bustle inside the police station, but it's nothing like it was yesterday.

However, when he apologized for the burden of not being able to work as an injured person, Smoker, who was at his desk compiling reports to various parties about the Creek attack and documents regarding the city's recovery, stopped what he was doing and pressed the cigar he was holding into the ashtray.

"Is the wound better now?"

"Yes, it's just a scratch and there's no concussion or anything like that. You can return to work today."

"...No, I'll give you a different mission."

"teeth?"

The town is still struggling to even carry out normal operations due to the recovery efforts following the Krieg attack, so what on earth could this other mission be about?

Smoker then took out a document from the drawer.

"Tashigi, do you remember your duties as supervisor of the general navigators?"

"Um... yes, it's a special instruction issued to new adventurers and explorers to avoid trouble at sea when they set out on a voyage. I've heard that it's basically applied when there is no one with experience in steering, and when the purpose is to monitor those with a criminal record or history to see if they might become a pirate or other criminal."

Tashigi herself has heard of the system, but cannot remember any cases in recent years where it has been applied.

It was originally issued as a way to monitor the increasing number of sailors who engaged in acts of plunder while posing as adventurers or explorers and hiding the fact that they were pirates during the Great Age of Piracy, which began with the words of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger.

However, 22 years have passed since the order was issued, and the system itself has become a mere formality and has faded into obscurity. There are even some Marines who have heard of the hardworking Tashigi but are unaware that the system even exists.

"Monkey D. Luffy has taken down a total of 48 million bounties in the East Blue. If he were to declare himself a pirate, he would surely be able to get 30 million berries. Just in case, it has been decided to place a supervisor on that ship."

"...Does that mean you doubt Luffy...?!"

The Navy's decision to send supervisors to a ship that has already destroyed three pirate gangs means that they recognize the ship's potential as a potential pirate force.

She understood the logic, but after seeing Luffy's personality, Tashigi didn't think he was the type of person who would become a criminal like that.

"That's what the higher-ups think. They've entrusted the task to me."

Certainly, with Smoker's abilities, it would be easy to take control of the ship in the event of an emergency.

Since he was assigned to Rogue Town, zero pirates have been able to enter through Rogue Town. The Great RouteGrand Line

Furthermore, it would be strange for a headquarters colonel to be at a police station in the East Blue, but that's because Smoker has been ignoring orders from his superiors and acting on his own, so instead of being disciplined he's only been demoted.

If you think about it that way, it's not strange to assign him to supervisory duties.

"So, Smoker, please come to Luffy's ship..."

"No, you ride."

"…picture?"

I thought that meant Smoker would be leaving town, but what I didn't expect was to be ordered to get in there myself.

This mission was supposed to have been ordered by Smoker from the higher-ups, so Tashigi's eyes widened as she wondered why it had come to her.

"I already knew they wouldn't become pirates. But it would be better for you to be on the ship than for me to be on the ship."

"...Convenience?"

"The East Sea is also known as the 'Weakest Sea.' It's not the best environment for those aiming to reach the top. To gain more strength, it's more meaningful to be tossed about by the waves."The Great RouteGrand Line

"...!"

That means Tashigi needs to train on Luffy's ship and get stronger.

I never expected that Smoker, who seemed like the very definition of a strict boss, would offer to see me off.

"He's no swordsman. But there's a lot you can learn from him. His techniques, his fighting, his way of thinking. Absorb everything. And become stronger."

"--yes!!"

"As of today, I have been appointed special supervisor of this ship. Umm... although I am the supervisor, please treat me as a crew member just like you."

"Hey, Luffy!"

Just before they set sail in Rogue Town, Luffy said, "I have someone to give you a ride."

I thought that perhaps he had spat on the girl during his short stay, but it turned out that the person who came was a woman with the title of special director.

I had no idea what was going on.

"What?"

"What? It's not! Explain!"

Not understanding the situation at all, everyone approached Luffy.

From their perspective, they also agree that Luffy's harem will grow and he will have more friends to share his "love" with by using them.

However, if it's a Marine, it's a different story. In the worst case scenario, Luffy's harem could be destroyed.

"Just as Kitashigi said earlier, a special supervisor will be placed on this ship. The reason is that there is a suspicion that I will be branded as a pirate after defeating Arlong and Kuro."

"Huh?! Luffy would never do something like that!"

Nojiko looks at Tashigi as if to argue, but Tashigi is also surprised, not expecting such a strong reaction, and can only do her best to calm her down by saying, "Calm down!"

"Well, that's just the pretense."

"...Is that just a pretense?"

"The reason is the same as yours, I have a purpose for getting on the ship. My purpose is to improve my combat skills, and I will gain more experience fighting on the journey than staying on the island in the East Blue and training ."The Great RouteGrand Line

Just like us, they had their own reasons for getting on the ship.

If you say that, I can't argue.

However, Makino took a step forward, thinking that the other person was a female naval soldier.

"Yes, yes, it's Luffy's decision, I'm sure no one will disagree."

"That's... well, if that's your decision, Luffy."

Kaya seemed convinced by Makino's words. Nami and Nojiko, who had opposed the idea, also accepted, saying, "I get it."

Makino then turned to Tashigi with a smile.

"Nice to meet you, Tashigi-chan. Once again, I'm Makino, and I'm the cook here."

"Nami. This ship's navigator."

"...Nojiko. Nami and I are sisters."

"I'm Kaya. Nice to meet you!"

"Yes! Thank you very much!"

Tashigi, full of energy, gave a firm salute, but Makino chuckled, "Relax a bit, this isn't a warship," and she blushed a little and lowered her hand, saying, "Yes."

Then Tashigi looked at the four crew members again and turned to Luffy with a puzzled look on her face.

"Um, is this all there is to the crew?"

"Yeah. There are five of us, including me... but from today there are six."

Even though they are small sailing ships, there are far too few.

What's more, the fact that Luffy was the only man on the team was a strange feeling for Tashigi, who had spent her time in the male-dominated Navy.

"I haven't forgotten anything. We're leaving now."

"Oh, yes! By the way, how did you..."

"Let's do this. [Change]"

When Luffy activated his power, the sails of the ship rose by themselves. As he watched in amazement, the ship caught the wind and began to move slowly.

"That was..."

"It's the power of the Tag Tag Fruit I ate. I can copy, paste, and remove information about objects as tags."

"Information... Ah, then what about the attack on Don Creek's faction that time...!"

The scene of the takeover I saw yesterday. The pirates had taken damage and were lying on the ground, even though they hadn't done anything. Creek was also trying to get up, but he couldn't move.

"I manipulated the temperature of the rain and instantly turned it into ice. I also made that gilded armor weigh two tons, so it's probably impossible to move properly."

"I see…"

Meanwhile, Luffy uses his ability to raise the sails and the ship leaves the shore. Watching Rogue Town leave, Tashigi tries to suppress the rising emotions as she gazes ahead of the ship.

Riding the wind, the Merry picked up speed and soon found itself on its planned route, proceeding parallel to the Guiding Light that pierced the entrance to the water. The Great RouteGrand Line

The weather was clear and there was a nice breeze, so we arrived at our destination quickly without any problems.

"That's... "Red Earth ContinentRed Line

It was the first time I had actually seen either Tashigi, a marine, or Nami, who worked as a thief in various parts of the East Blue.

As I gasped at the overwhelming presence and magnitude of the natural scenery, I saw the entrance to a canal leading into the mountain.

"That's it! That's the entrance!!"The Great RouteGrand Line

"The ship is veering a little to the left!"

"Leave it to me, [Change]!!"

When Luffy activated his power, the rudder moved by himself and the ship's direction changed. Tashigi was surprised that he could control a small sailing ship by himself, and the ship entered the opening as if being sucked in.

And at the top of Reverse Mountain, the currents of the four oceans met and flowed into one.

"It's in!! "The Great RouteGrand Line

"Wow, it's been a long journey so far, but it's also been short."

"But this is where the real action begins."

"Yes, for the true purpose of this ship."

"(I'll definitely get stronger...!)"

"Let's go !!!"The Great RouteGrand Line

The four ocean currents merged and the Merry was thrown off course by the force of Reverse Mountain.

When the ship settled safely, it passed between the two lighthouses and emerged into the open sea.

So, that's where Tashigi boards the ship.

To be honest, she was actually supposed to join them after their trip to Whiskey Peak.

I'll explain the details later, but since it would have been difficult to have them join up in that scenario, I decided to have them board the ship while staying in Rogue Town.

After thinking about the reason, I decided that "for training" seemed the most likely answer, and that solidified the second half of the story. Before that, I decided that Tashigi had a complex about her gender and abilities, and so the attack incident that triggered the first half of the story became the trigger

. ...At that time, I was thinking of having an unknown pirate carry out the attack, but then I thought, "Oh, there's someone I haven't mentioned yet," and added Krieg.

He ended up becoming even more of a punching bag than Arlong or Kuro...

and I was thinking of corrupting Tashigi from there, but I ran out of characters before I could get that far.

Forcing it in would have made the story too thin, so I decided to just include the first conversation between the Five Elders and make it a sort of interlude without any erotic elements.

Also, I was actually thinking of having Kaya or Nojiko verbally persuade Laboon to stop his self-harming behavior.

However, since I couldn't figure out how things would unfold after they were swallowed by Laboon, I decided to just say that they passed by the Twin Capes while Laboon was underwater. I figured

that given the timing, there were probably quite a few pirate crews that passed by while they were underwater.

That's why I included a story in the previous chapter where Mr. 9 and Wednesday were interrupted by Crocus.

The two are now back at Whiskey Peak and reporting that their mission failed.

Now, since this story doesn't have any erotic elements, I've shortened the posting interval from the previous chapter, and the next one will be posted next week on April 5th.

The story will not involve them arriving at Whiskey Peak, but rather trying to seduce Tashigi before that.
