Chapter 47 - Reinforcements arrive

Salhiel was starring to doubt her life.First the humanoid monster she was fighting became stronger after absorbing one of the loot drops and then its outfit changed.

The mask and fur clothing it was wearing became more advanced and better made as it began to shift in her view. The monsters weapon also changed and appeared better made now.

"Care for a second round knife ears?" Bolst asked snarkily with a cocky smirk as he looked at Salhiels face expecting a demoralised expression.

Salhiel had a neutral expression contrary to what Bolst had been expecting. They rengaged as all the buildings burned down around them with people panicking.

Bolst now attacked with greater force and speed then he had before.Salhiel was still under the effect of the cultivation pill she had taken. This was no longer a winnable fight and the mining settlement had already fallen.

WOOOSH

Bolst found an elven arrow embedded in his shoulder.Pain flared up as Bolst tried to see where the arrow had come from.Salhiel who possessed experience took advantage of the opening that appeared.

Bolst reacted just in time to avoid having his hand completely severed by Salhiel's blade.

"Salhiel we heard the alarm. What is that creature and why are they attacking the mining settlement?"

Salhiel smiled as her associates of the crescent moon mercenary company had heard the loud alarms and arrived to help.

"It appears to be some sort of dungeon monster and there are a number of them attacking the settlement."

"Rest assured we've also arrived with the lizardman mercenaries of the slithering knights mercenary group and the dwarf mercenaries of the runic drunkards mercenary group."

Salhiel grinned heartily as she knew the reputations of the other two mercenary groups. They were reliable and trustworthy.

The moon elf mercenaries got to work and ganged up on Bolst.Bolst was enraged by this behaviour and went into a frenzy before he found himself with multiple arrows and blades sticking out of his body.

The moon elves observed as his body dissolved and disappeared and they collected the loot.

...

Thangrim Bronzebeard expressed his battlecry as he attacked the flame elemental in the form of a tigre with his rune axe.The runes and gems adorning his axe lit up as it struck the fire elemental.

The fiery tigre roared in rage as its form broke down and dissipated. It didn't drop anything.

"AYE.IT SEEMS TO BE THE WORK OF A SPELL.WE NEED TO FIND AND KILL THE SUMMONER."

Thangrim yelled to the group of fellow dwarf mercenaries who had been standing back and spectating the battle. They did not do this out of laziness but because it was Thangrim's initiation into the dwarf mercenary company.

...

The head priestess had been standing on top of a lookout and watching it all burn down. All had been going well and the quest was nearing completion.

Then enemies had arrived and started killing the members of her human warband and her elementals. Why did they have to arrive now?

The quest was 85% complete for Gaia's sake.

Wait the situation could still be salvaged. The head priestess had levelled up a lot from all the miners and workers her elemental summons had killed. She had levelled up enough to gain new skills and pick a class for herself.

She was now a elemental aspect summoner. She felt this was the best option as though she didn't get new skills from class selection the class had greatly empowered her existing skills. She was the first level 5 boss human in existence.

Watching from the sidelines as her summons and fellow humans did all the work was good and all but it was becoming clear rapidly that if you wanted a quest done well you had to do it yourself.

The head priestess jumped down from the watchtower. She had destroyed the bell but not until after it was active for a couple of seconds.

She unsummoned her elementals and walked into the mining settlement. There were a lot of enemies now.The solution was simple though.Reduce the number of enemies back down to zero.

Some of those creatures calling themselves dwarves observed her approach and yelled battle crys. They charged. The headpriestress noted that they were quite slow due to their short legs but they were physically strong for their size.

The headpriestess raised her scepter.Ever since her wargear had increased in quality and she selected her class she could now use her scepter as a medium to vastly increase the ease with which she summoned her elementals.

The trip to this settlement had certainly swelled her powers and strengh to almost unheard of levels for the human race.If it wasn't for Arther she genuinely believed that she would've been at the top of humanity.
