Chapter 43 - Venturing into the outside world

Gaia was going over the rest of the teams when Derek and the head priestress asked if they could venture into the outside realm with their teams to get an early start.

While Gaia wanted all the teams to exit together she decided to allow it.They had to prepare quickly in the event that another threat like Gordon showed up.

Both were eager and curious to exit the dungeon. They said farewells to their fellows and those they got along with. They then exited the dungeon whilst the others were picking their teams. From there on Gaia could no longer see them.Due to the dungeon war though she would still be able to gain essence from whatever they killed and be able to respawn them.

...

The two teams gazed at their surroundings. All things considered it looked abnormally normal considering they were in a different realm. To the left of the dungeon entrance was a far off settlement of sorts.Straight ahead was what appeared to be a town.To the right was a large forest of sorts. The air felt clear but the mana concentration was far less the further away you got from the dungeon.

"I'll head to the left which way are you picking?"

The head priestess had already chosen a direction to head in without consulting her team.

The four elite human shrine warriors in her team didn't mind this. The other three within her team were less composed but they realised that if they didn't venture then nothing would be gained.

"I'll head straight ahead into that large town.I've got an idea on how to approach it."

Derek chose his direction and while his team was worried and believed it might be better to head into the forest they were relieved that he at least had an approach in mind.

"Then let us proceed Derek"

The two teams headed in different directions. Both were heading to signs of civilisation. What was waiting for them they had little idea.

Derek decided to order his teammate Scott to disguise all his team members as some of those long eared people they had encountered before in the dungeon.

While Derek's team finished doing that the head priestress's team took a 25 minute walk to get to the settlement.Although it appeared to be less of a settlement and more of a place of operations where they were digging things out of the ground.

There were multiple caves where those other races were moving carts filled with some sort of rocks they found in the ground. They appeared to take shifts and followed a schedule.

[Quest issued:destroy Ersatz mining settlement]

[Tasks:kill over 80% of the inhabitants of the settlement.Recieve bonus rewards for killing 100% of the inhabitants.Pillage and steal anything of worth including metal ores(you can teleport anything valuable to the Gaia dungeon by touching it with intent but only in the quest area).Destroy the settlement.]

[Rewards:7500 experience to each human who took part though extra will be issued to those who put in the most work.Every human taking part will recieve one piece of equipment and one skill according to their rank.]

All the humans present recieved the quest. They didn't expect to be able to recieve such rewards for something they were already going to do.That amount of experience was equivalent to 3 or 4 level ups.

"Praise be to Gaia"

The head priestress praised her deity. The path forward had been made clear. They had to complete the tasks given to them by Gaia.Glory to Gaia and the human race.

...

George had finished his shift for today and was looking forward to returning home to his wife. The goat beastkin wiped sweat off his brow whilst putting his pick axe away.

They had successfully made their quota for the week and they were bound to be paid a bonus.George passed by some kobold miners talking about their venture inside of a new dungeon again.

"So there we were and then these malformed,grotesque,round-eared parodies of elves showed themselves."

"They wielded spears and their strengh was ferocious as befitting of savages but with superior combat skill we bested them. With a little magical help of course."

Sindri grinned a tad at the fact that they alluded to his help. The crowd listening to the tale listened in awe.George shook his head. Why a bunch of miners would bother exploring a dungeon when there were adventurers for that line of work would never not confuse him.

Not all of the miners had returned from that trip and Radway had died on his second venture.Better to leave that kind of work for the professionals.

Not to mention the kinds of creatures they were finding in dungeons nowadays were outright abominations.Round eared parodies of elves.Who on this planet could come up with such a thing.George sighed in exasperation.
