Chapter 12
The group was walking in the forest following Jing. A creature suddenly ran towards them. The group was surprised to see something running at them at full speed. It lunged at Jing with all its might, knocking Jing to the ground. It was a baby black dragon, the same height as the group.
The group reacted quickly to the sudden attack and ran toward the baby dragon on top of Jing. Leia quickly cast a spell to knock the dragon back. The dragon flew away from Jing and landed on the ground with its four limbs.
The group quickly moved to protect Jing except for Ai and Alex, who stood on the sidelines watching the scene. They quickly took out their weapons to prepare for battle. Leia prepared an attack spell to support them from the back. Delton and Maya took out their swords and pointed them at the baby dragon. James suddenly summoned a bow in his hand and produced an arrow, aiming it at the baby dragon. The twins took out their daggers from the back of their belts and took a defensive stance in front of Leia.
Jing watched the group preparing to fight the baby dragon. Then he looked at Alex and noticed he didn't join the others.
"Aren't you going to help them?" Jing looked at Alex watching from the sidelines. Alex wasn't fazed by the dragon's sudden appearance. He had been told what happened to the world, about the Great Merge of Worlds.
He chose to watch the others fight. He still didn't know what Anima was or how dangerous the baby dragon they faced was. He couldn't risk being killed; he was too cautious to try something.
"I'm just going to watch. I'm not obliged to fight," James said with a straight face. Jing just looked at him with understanding and quickly went back to check on the others.
The group fought the baby dragon. Leia produced two wind blades flying towards it.
'I'm going to impress Alex with my overwhelming strength,' Leia thought smugly as she watched her wind blades fly towards the baby dragon. But the baby dragon just swatted the wind blades like they were nothing, dissipating them into the air.
Leia watched her spell crumble, her mouth wide open, surprised that it failed her.
Delton moved forward and swung his sword horizontally in front of the dragon, but the baby ducked its head and spun, hitting Delton's legs with its tail and knocking him to the ground. The baby dragon jumped up, trying to crush Delton with its body.
Maya reacted quickly and swung her sword upward, trying to slice the baby dragon from below. The baby dragon quickly backed off using its wings. Then it opened its mouth. An orange color started to glow in its mouth before releasing giant flames.
Leia reacted quickly. She moved to the front and produced a barrier blocking the flames. The twins moved to each side of the baby dragon, attacking from left and right. The baby dragon stopped spitting flames and quickly tackled Larry, knocking him out.
"LARRY! I'll kill you for what you did to my brother!" Barry shouted, running towards the baby dragon's back and jumping high into the air. His dagger glowed with green light as he embedded the dagger in Amina. But suddenly, Jing stepped forward, stopping Barry from hurting the baby dragon.
"I think we should stop here," Jing said, looking at Barry and smiling. "Larry isn't dead yet. No need to get all worked up."
Jing pointed at the unconscious Larry lying on the ground. "See, he's still breathing."
Larry's chest was moving, showing he was breathing. Suddenly, something flew from above them. Its shadow blocked the sun, making the group look up to see what flew above them.
Before they could look up fully, it landed in front of them. A huge cloud of dust flew towards them. Its enormous body was half the size of a mountain. The group cowered in fear from the black giant dragon before them.
The group froze in fear, looking at the enormous dragon. The dragon moved its head forward, revealing menacing yellow eyes. It looked directly at the group.
"Mama, mama, let's play with my new friends!" Suddenly, the baby dragon ran towards the giant dragon. "Let's play! Let's play!"
The group was surprised that the baby dragon could speak, shocking them. The baby dragon urged its mother to play with it, jumping around in front of her.
"Mama, Papa came back," The dragon said happily and pointed at one of the group members. "Look over there."
They all looked in the direction the baby dragon pointed. It pointed directly at Jing, who sat in the dirt watching the scene unfold.
"Yes, I'm her father," Jing nodded, confirming the baby dragon's words. The group stood there in shock, their mouths wide open, shocked by the sudden revelation.
Suddenly, the black giant dragon opened its mouth and spoke in a woman's voice. "What are you doing here? You deadbeat of a father." She was annoyed to see him return after missing all that time raising their daughter.
"Oh, don't be like that, Mai. I was just busy dealing with something in the kingdom," Jing stood up and patted his butt, removing the dust from his clothes.
He walked forward and started caressing his daughter, petting her head. The baby dragon responded by cuddling in front of the group.
"I miss you too. Papa misses you too, Lana," Jing hugged Lana, the baby dragon, in front of the others, shocking them even more.
Alex just watched this unfold, still trying to process how they could do the deed with the difference in their race.
"You still didn't answer my question, Jing. What are you doing here?" Mai moved her head forward in front of Jing, as if about to eat him.
Jing just caressed her enormous head, unconcerned about the threatening power she exuded. But the others weren't so lucky; they couldn't handle the power.
"Come on, honey bun, don't be like that," Jing kissed her on the front of her face, calming her down.
"You're lucky I'm in a good mood." Suddenly, black flames engulfed Mai, devouring her.
Someone suddenly came out of the black flame.
