Chapter 34 - The Sky Trembles

Two days passed in silence. Too silent.

Azure Cloud Sect usually rang with sword chants, clashing qi, and disciples' sparring. Now, an uneasy hush lay over the mountains. Even the spirit cranes flew low, wings beating nervously.

The heavens were stirring.

Ominous Signs

On the morning of the second day, the sky above the sect darkened without clouds. Sunlight dimmed as if swallowed by unseen hands. A low hum spread through the air, vibrating the bones of every disciple.

From Frostmoon Peak, silver-haired Li Qingyue gazed upward. Her violet eyes narrowed. "The heavens… are watching."

Across the sect, disciples muttered anxiously.

"Why is the sky so heavy…?"

"It's him. Long Chen. The rumors were true—heaven itself comes for him."

"No one survives Heavenly Observation. Not in the Lower Realm."

Some whispered with awe, others with fear. All eyes turned toward Azure Spirit Peak—toward the dragon who had provoked heaven.

The Elders' Council

Inside the Jade Pavilion, elders gathered once more. The air was thick with tension.

Elder Zhao sneered, his voice venomous. "You see? Even the heavens mark him as an abomination! This is proof he must be purged."

Elder Yun countered, voice calm but sharp. "Or proof that he has already risen above mortals. If he survives the Observation, even the heavens acknowledge him. To kill him after would be to invite disaster."

Sect Master Ye Tianxing stood silently, his hands folded behind his back. His eyes pierced the darkened sky.

At last, he spoke. "The heavens will decide. Until then, none shall interfere. If he lives, he is ours. If he dies, it was fate."

Long Chen's Calm

On Azure Spirit Peak, Long Chen sat cross-legged by the spirit pool. His golden eyes were half-closed, his breath steady. Dragon qi roared faintly in his body, scales shimmering across his arms.

The Origin Loom spun violently in his mind's sea, threads glowing brighter than ever.

Long Chen exhaled slowly. "Heaven… you dare test me?"

The dragon within laughed, its roar shaking his veins.

Li Qingyue's Visit

That night, as the moon rose pale and cold, Long Chen's chamber door opened without sound. Li Qingyue stepped inside, her presence like drifting frost.

Her violet eyes studied him in silence for a long moment. Finally, she spoke softly.

"Do you understand what is coming?"

"Tribulation," Long Chen said calmly. "The heavens descend to suppress me."

Her expression didn't waver, but something flickered in her gaze. "Most die. Even those chosen by fate."

"And?" he asked.

She tilted her head slightly, moonlight glinting off her silver hair. "You are not afraid?"

Long Chen's lips curved faintly. "Afraid? I am the dragon that devours fear. Let them come."

For an instant, her Pure Yin stirred, resonating faintly with his bloodline. The Origin Loom thrummed violently.

[ Synergy Event ]

Target: Li Qingyue (Pure Yin)

Effect: Creation Thread Progress +1%

Warning: Heavenly Observation resonance deepens.

Li Qingyue turned, her robe whispering against the stone. "If you fall… I will know the heavens are cruel. If you survive…" She paused, violet eyes glimmering faintly. "…then perhaps you are worth following."

Her words lingered as she vanished into moonlight.

Mo Lingxi's Shadow

Far beyond the realm, in the void between worlds, crimson eyes gleamed with wicked delight. Mo Lingxi leaned lazily against a throne of shadow, lips curved.

"Yes… the heavens descend. They will try to break you. And when you bleed, I will drink deeper than they ever could."

Her laughter rippled through the Omniverse like a song of doom.

The Sect Watches

By dawn, disciples and elders alike gathered on the surrounding peaks. No one spoke. All eyes fixed on Azure Spirit Peak, where Long Chen sat cross-legged beneath the heavens.

The sky darkened to black. Stars blinked out. A vast, unseen gaze pressed upon the sect, heavy enough to make even Core disciples kneel.

Then—thunder cracked across a cloudless sky. Lightning split the heavens, arcs of blinding silver roaring down.

The Heavenly Observation had begun.
