Austronesia Empire, Imperial Majapahit, East Kalimantan, Tanjung Redeb, In The Streets Of Tanjung Redeb.
1st Year Of The New Age, Wednesday, 1st Week, 2nd Month Of Noah.
Screams and cries rang out from the abandoned city as the rebel militants ran about in panic from the sudden spread of destruction. Several parts of the city had seemingly disappeared in the sudden explosions with the fire that seemed to be unable to be doused with water.
"Echo 3-1. Good effect on targets! Viking RTB, good hunting."
"Much obliged, Viking. We'll take it from here."
Another loud sound started to ring in the buildings, an alarm, as Riley and his team were now breaking down a door and making their way toward their objective.
"Heads up."
"Multiple guns, on foot."
"Kami sedang diserang! Temukan orang-orang kami yang hilang, sisanya amankan kirimannya! (We're under attack! Find our missing men, and the rest secure the shipment!)"
"Hold up, let them approach," Riley commanded.
"Ada laki-laki di bidang ini. Temukan mereka dan bunuh mereka! Atau Direktur akan membunuh kita! (There are men on this ground. Find them and kill them! Or the Director will kill us!)"
"Menyebar! Jika Anda melihat sesuatu, tembaklah! (Spread out! If you see anything, shoot it!)"
Riley advanced a bit and gripped his gun. His squadmates waited for him to give the call. Suddenly, flashlights lit up as the enemies approached. Riley had no choice.
"Smoke 'em! Now!"
Riley and his team fired, each taking down a target.
"Clear, force up."
The squad made their way through the area, which is now entirely burning to the ground. There was only but fire and cinders surrounding them, and the trees and the grass everywhere were still burning around the squad as they were walking among dead, burnt bodies of rebel soldiers.
"Looks like someone was playing with fire…" said one of the squadmates mockingly.
"Serves 'em right," another replied.
As they approached the front gate, a burning watchtower started to crumble right in front of them.
"Watch out!" yelled a squadmate, making everyone step back.
The tower collapsed into the flames, triggering another explosion.
"Shit…" a squadmate muttered.
"Hey!"
The Overwatch Team immediately turned around, weapons raised, only to find one of the rebel soldiers came in front of them with his whole body burned as he crawled towards them.
"Please…Help me..!"
One of the soldiers grunted in distaste as he aimed his weapon and shot the man in the head.
"Ugh…" he growled, clearly showing his disgust for his own actions.
"Hey, you did good. We gotta pull them out of their misery…" Riley said as he tried to comfort his mate. "There's nothing we can do. He is already dead…"
"I know… I know…" the soldier replied in a clearly annoyed tone, clearly unhappy with what he had to do.
Riley sighed at him before going ahead, leading his squad into the burning facility as they were checking every corner while making their way.
Riley made a sign to his squad, pointing towards a building where they heard voices.
"Matikan api ini! (Put down these flames!)"
"Saya mencoba! Aku tentara bayaran sialan karena menangis dengan suara keras! Saya dibayar untuk membunuh orang, bukan untuk berperan sebagai pemadam kebakaran! (I'm trying! I'm a damn mercenary for crying out loud! I was paid to kill people, not to play fireman!)"
"Anda tidak dibayar jika Anda mati! (You don't get paid if you're dead!)"
Riley approached the door as he made a sign to one of his mates, readying themselves in front of the door. Before smashing it with a kick as they entered and killed one man each.
"Clear."
"Uh… Element of surprise is not on our side, boys. Stay frosty."
All the squad readied themselves in front of another door as they were breaking the handles to enter.
Suddenly, a light lit up right in front of the first man as he got pierced through by a rain of bullets, blood spilling out of his body.
"MAN DOWN!" Riley shouted as he quickly stepped forward to shoot and provide cover as a squadmate was dragging the deceased man inside.
"There's an MG up ahead!" shouted one of his mates.
"He's dug in! Lay suppression and get up there!"
"I'm on it! You guys suppress and cover!" Riley ordered.
"Copy 3-1!" The others put themselves in position.
Riley started to make his run, taking cover behind the carts on the railroads before him as his squadmates were shooting towards the LMG to prohibit it from shooting.
Enemies started to show up on his way. He didn't think twice before shooting them down as they tried to cover, having the advantage as they didn't know where he was until now.
"Reloading! Cover me!" Riley yelled as he changed his magazine.
"I got you 3-1!" another answered, offering suppression.
Once reloaded, Riley pinned his rifle to the cover's side and started shooting multiple rebel soldiers trying to counter-attack his mates, killing them with well-placed shots.
He continued his advance, jumping over a barricade when an enemy suddenly lunged at him with a knife. Riley blocked the attack with his rifle, blocking the man's elbow before kicking the man in the knee, passing under his arm and projecting him on the ground, pinning him down as he pulled his pistol to shoot another enemy approaching from the side, and execute his primary opponent with a bullet right in the face.
"Damn it!" he grunted, as he put his pistol back in the holster.
Riley was now near the LMG, who couldn't get him since he was in a dead angle. He pulled a grenade from his belt, yanked the pin, and threw it up. After a little while, the entire floor where the LMG was stationed exploded, accompanied by the screams of his enemies.
"MG down!" he shouted.
"Nice job!" his mates cheerfully shouted as they regrouped on him.
"What's his condition?" Riley asked the medic of the team, referring to the one who got shot.
The soldier shook his head sadly in response.
"Fuck…"
Knowing they had lost one of their squadmates, they have to mourn his death, but not now as they had a mission to finish.
Moments later, one of his team placed an explosive on the gate and stepped back up.
"Cover your ears!"
BOOOOM!
The gate blew up, opening it and allowing them to get through.
"More guns ahead!" a mate yelled as he took cover.
"Hey, they're running!" another laughed.
With Riley situated up the ladder, where the LMG was, they shot the remaining rebel soldiers who tried to regroup and mount a defense.
"You see anymore?" a squadmate asked.
"Nah, seems clear," another replied.
Riley went down the ladder and checked the remaining bullets in his magazine, before loading it up and taking the lead of the squad.
"Check your corners and stay on guard. This is the building High Command told us about up ahead. They stated that the Rebel leaders are there. If you see anyone, fire on sight. Don't let them get the chance to smoke you," Riley ordered.
"Rog."
"Solid copy."
They continued to go forward with their formation covering every corner of the squad from front to back upon reaching the door of the building.
"All right, masks on," the captain ordered.
Everyone proceeded to put a mask on their face making sure it was well placed. A squadmate went forward to the door and looked to Riley, who gave him a nod of approval to open it.
The door opened, and they entered the place, checking every corner with guns on point, until the lights went out.
"Uh… Of course." a squadmate spat.
"Maybe the explosion?" asked another one in a low voice.
"Right when we enter? Hell of a coincidence," growled another.
"Lead?" one asked, looking at Riley.
"Lights up on your weapons, tight formation, two on me to cover the front, the rest check the back. Report everything you see that seems suspect and if anything other than us moves, you shoot first," he replied in a stern voice.
Everyone gave a nod of approval and put themselves into formation, watching every of their steps as they walked into pure darkness.
Suddenly, a movement ahead caused some cardboard boxes to fall.
"Right, we're not alone, boys," a squadmate spat.
"On your guard, and shut it," Riley whispered.
They continued to walk, and Riley stopped as he saw something near the obstacle before him. Without thinking twice, he started shooting, earning a scream as a man fell. Immediately after, bullets began to rain from their sides.
"Take cover!" a squadmate yelled.
"Drop flashes on their faces and smoke them!" Riley ordered. He grabbed a cylindrical grey grenade from his belt and threw it. It exploded with a loud noise, disorienting the enemies who clutched their heads. No one wasted a second before shooting them.
"Still one up!" a mate yelled.
Riley immediately reacted and shot the last man standing on the balcony above them, ready to shoot, making him fall to the ground in front of them.
"We're clear?!"
"This is the end of the first floor. They might be on the second," another replied.
"All right. Let's get the power up. Shed some light and found the rebel leaders."
"Copy 3-1."
"Lookin'."
"Copy, searching for power."
Riley looked around him, walking with caution as he still was on his guard, until he found a box against the wall with a yellow triangle and a lever.
"All right, got it. Lights up," he said as he pulled the lever, lighting the building up.
