A week had passed in a flash. Yuki had only seen the landlady and her niece once, that was when he rented the room. He thought maybe they forgot he lived here.
Yuki started his day by exercising, after that he freshened up and got ready to leave for school. He wore blue shorts and a blue jacket to match. He looked like a woman on her period according to Kira.
He picked the black box which was his grumpy AI best friend and put her into his bag. Kira had insisted on Yuki taking her with him. Although she just wanted to watch over Yuki, he thought she was just trying to be a nuisance.
Yuki walked all the way to school, he actually enjoyed the stroll. To his right, the sun began its slow ascent over the rooftops. The sky shifted from a deep, bruised purple to a soft, burning orange, bleeding gold into the edges of the clouds. As the first true light hit the street, Yuki's shadow stretched out long and thin before him—a dark giant leading the way toward his new life.
He adjusted his glasses, which had begun to slide down his nose. The golden light caught the lenses, masking his magical blue eyes for a moment in a flash of amber. He looked up, watching a single crow take flight from a power line, its wings cutting through the silence of the dawn.
"Forty minutes ahead of schedule, Yuki," Kira's voice drifted from the bag, muffled by the fabric but still unmistakably sharp. "Try not to use all your energy on walking. You'll need some left to fail your first class."
Yuki didn't stop smiling. He watched the light dance off the power lines and the way the shadows retreated into the narrow alleys.
For the first time in sixteen years, the horizon wasn't a wall—it was an invitation.
"I'm not going to fail, Kira," he whispered to the empty street, his voice steady. "I'm just getting started."
He quickened his pace, his tall silhouette moving through the golden morning, a single Acolyte heading toward a school full of giants.
Yuki had arrived in front of the school and was marveled by it's size and aesthetic structure.
Kyorin High School doesn't look like a typical place of learning; it looks like a fortress designed to contain and train vessels of power. Situated on a steep hill overlooking the city, it looms over the neighborhood as a constant reminder of the gap between the powerful and the powerless.
"How can it be this big?"
"Your tiny brain would never be able to comprehend." Kira answered from inside his bag.
"Why did I even bring you?" Yuki asked, his tone laced with annoyance.
"Cause you can't do anything without me."
Yuki stared at the Iron Gates in front of him with awe. He was very early therefore no other student had arrived. He had arrived early on purpose so he could meet the student council president that Kira told him about.
Yuki explored the hallways looking for the student council president's office. He finally found it after roaming for a while.
KNOCK KNOCK
Yuki knocked on the door lightly.
"Come in!" A feminine voice sounded from inside the room. Yuki slowly opened the door and walked in.
Yuki stood in the center of a room that felt more like a luxury lounge than an office. Large windows offered a panoramic view of the city, and the air was thick with a refined, calming Ki.
There was a beautiful girl sitting at a desk, her hair was bright green and reached her mid back, she had bright green eyes to match. Any male would instantly get the hots for her.
On her desk was a neatly folded charcoal and gold uniform.
"You're remarkably early for a trouble maker." She stated while examining Yuki from head to toe.
He's very good looking and tall, I can tell he has a nice physique. But his ki, I can barely sense it. With this amount of ki, he's the weakest in the entire school.
She had assessed Yuki in her thoughts.
"I'm Seri Kyorin. Student council president." She spoke in a rather haughty tone.
She stood up, her long hair swaying slightly. As a Paragon, her presence was effortless, cool and pressurized, like the deep ocean.
She was two levels higher than Yuki.
"Wow! This room is amazing! Is that a real fountain?" Yuki was amazed by the small fountain on the right side of the room "And the uniform is this real silk? It feels so much better than the itchy sweaters Kira makes me wear!" His eyes were beaming wide with wonder.
"I heard that you ungrateful idiot!" Kira yelled from inside the bag.
"Who's that?" Seri was confused by how a voice came from Yuki's bag.
"She's a witch."
"Shut up!" Kira decided to introduce herself since Yuki would just tarnish her image. "I'm Kira, an AI created by and for the Kinatarou family. I'm the Yuki's current guardian, I accompanied him here to make sure he stays away from trouble. Please let me accompany him further." Kira sounded incredibly professional and polite.
"Okay, I have no problem as long as you don't distract anyone during classes." Seri's voice commanded authority. She turned her attention towards Yuki once again. "An AI that talks back? How charming. My family built these walls, so try not to break them, okay? You've been placed in Class 2-A. It's an elite track, mostly filled with Adepts and Paragons." She said while leaning forward, her chin resting on her hand with a playful smirk.
"Class 2-A! Got it! I'll work harder than anyone else. I'll make sure your family's school becomes famous for having the best Acolyte in history!" Yuki pumped up his fist and declared.
Seri laughed softly, a sound as sweet as silver bells. "You're very energetic, most people can barely breathe in my presence because of how strong I am. But you're just standing there talking about fountains and silk, you're either very brave or very dense, Yuki-kun."
She walked around the desk, stopping just inches from him. Being 5'10", Yuki was taller than her, but she didn't seem to mind. She reached out and straightened the collar of his current jacket, her fingers lingering for a second longer than necessary.
"I'll be your classmate so I'll be watching you closely. Don't let our star pupil Renjiro bully you too much, I'd hate to see that beautiful smile of yours get dimmed." Seri whispered softly but loud enough for Yuki to hear clearly.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine. I'm harder to melt than a glacier." Yuki said in joyful tone.
He was happy because of this star pupil named Renjiro. Now all he had to do was get into a fight with Renjiro.
Seri revealed a faint and mysterious smile. "Is that so? We'll see, now go and change. You're making me nervous just by being this happy."
