Chapter 39 - 39. Helen

The captain and Helen were chatting casually, not trying to lower their voices.

Alan was quite far away.

Besides, his attention was focused on the lobster monster.

He didn't hear the captain and Helen's comments about him.

Fellin, Duke, and Angel, who were behind him, did hear them.

Fellin and Angel didn't react.

He remained focused on casting spells, reducing the lobster monster's vitality.

Duke, however, looked displeased and snorted harshly.

He suddenly strode forward.

"Hey! Buddy, what are you trying to do?"

Felin noticed his unnatural behavior and quickly raised his hand to stop him.

"Alan's defending well up front, don't make things worse!"

Duke was impatient to listen to his advice.

Shoved Felin aside and walked straight to the lobster monster. He took a deep breath.

Opened his mouth wide.

From the depths of his throat… Suddenly, a pale stream of cold air erupted! Swish! The extremely cold air expanded in a cone, sweeping straight towards the lobster monster.

In the blink of an eye, it enveloped the monster, freezing it into an ice sculpture!Allen turned his head to look at Duke, his eyes narrowing slightly.

The sight of Duke spewing cold air… It brought back a strong sense of déjà vu.

Back in the Meditation World, Allen had witnessed a familiar scene when he fought the Dragon Man as a Poison Demon

. The poisonous gas spewed by the Dragon Man was naturally different from the cold air spewed by Duke.

However, the two attack methods were essentially similar.

If nothing unexpected happened, Duke was probably a "Dragon Vein Warlock" with white or silver dragon bloodline.

Otherwise, it would be impossible to master the ability to spit out cold secondary dragon breath during the apprenticeship stage.

Alan retracted his gaze and looked at the lobster monster again.

No matter how high his talent or how strong his bloodline,

Duke was still just an apprentice after all.

The secondary dragon breath he had just spit out could only temporarily freeze the lobster monster.

In the blink of an eye.

The frost covering the lobster monster had shattered into pieces.

It was about to break free from its icy cage and regain its freedom.

Alan didn't give it that chance.

He rushed up along the frost-covered lobster's tail.

Bone-penetrating force sank down, filling his legs!

He aimed at the lobster monster's head and kicked it hard!

The lobster monster's frozen shell had become extremely fragile.

Alan's kick was like striking a giant ceramic jar.

With a bang, the lobster monster's head exploded.

Broken shells, flesh, and roe splattered everywhere! Alan leaped from the lobster monster's corpse.

The battle was over, and his tense nerves relaxed somewhat.

Only then did he realize he was being stared at. He turned his head.

The red-haired girl was standing on the balcony on the second floor of the bridge, watching the battle.

Their eyes met for a moment.

Herent gave him a faint, charming smile. Alan nodded in return and returned to the lobster monster.

Even more so than the beautiful girl's smile and seductive eyes, the exotic ingredients held a greater allure for him.

He secretly used the system to verify the information.

As expected.

The lobster monster's flesh is a special ingredient!

Alan cut off a piece of lobster meat with his dagger.

While it was still fresh, he stuffed it directly into his mouth.

It was crisp and chewy, with a sweet taste.

The system prompt echoed in his mind.

"Eat special ingredient!"

"Potential +1!"

"Agility +1!"

Current Attributes: Constitution 18, Agility 17, Spirit 19

Alan stuffed another piece of lobster meat into his mouth.

This time, he wasn't trying to improve his potential or attributes, but simply to enjoy the food.

Ignoring the surprised looks around him, Alan nodded in approval:

"Not bad! It tastes great!"

Eating raw seafood is commonplace for the islanders.

The people on the boat were surprised by Alan's actions.

Because the fresh seafood Allen was feasting on...

It came from the very sea monster that had just been chasing him on deck!

Eating a sea monster raw—most people wouldn't have the courage.

But then again, it was understandable that this happened to Allen.

After all, he was a renowned foodie on the ship!

This reckless gluttony actually suited him perfectly.

The lobster monster sashimi was just an appetizer.

That evening, Allen enjoyed a more substantial lobster feast in the cafeteria.

The lobster gratin and shrimp roe seafood soup, prepared with his "seasoning technique," were a feast for everyone.

The lobster monster that had delivered itself to his door had been put to good use.

Fighting side by side brought Allen closer to Flynn, Duke, and Angel.

During dinner, the four of them sat at the table and chatted casually.

Felin was from Griffin Island, a direct descendant of a minor warlock family, with griffin blood and superior talent.

This chubby boy was quite likeable.

He was humorous and a great livener.

At such a young age, he already displayed the demeanor of a social butterfly.

Anger, the black-robed youth, was from Tiefling Island.

He had the blood of an Abyssal Demon and was a novice apprentice.

He was frail and coughed frequently.

Sometimes, when he coughed so hard, he would cough up bloody phlegm.

Anger was a bit of a loner and taciturn.

Perhaps it was because he was always indifferent to others that he seemed unsociable.

The sarcastic girls on the ship mocked him behind his back, calling him a "consumptive."

Angel came from a poor family, and even with such a weak constitution, he still received a letter of recommendation, demonstrating his exceptional talent.

Duke, from Whalebone Harbor, was also a high-ranking apprentice.

As Allen had guessed, Duke possessed the bloodline of the White Dragon and possessed exceptional talent.

"As for my family background... I'm sorry, my elders are very strict, so I can't disclose it."

"Anyway, those who understand will understand."

"Everyone here is intelligent; I'm sure you'll understand what I mean."

Duke introduced himself with a proud expression.

Even though they hadn't met closely, Allen could sense it.

Duke, this kid, was quite cocky.

He loved to show off whenever he had the chance.

He was quite respectful of Felin, who came from a family of sorcerers.

He had a certain disdain for himself and Angel, who came from commoner families.

From the subtle hints in his words, it seemed he came from an incredibly noble family.

He was most likely a direct descendant of a powerful dragon vein family.

As a young noble, it was perfectly natural for him to look down on commoners.

Having lived two lives, Alan certainly wouldn't bother with such a brat.

"Did you notice?" FeLin gave Alan and the others a suggestive look. "The red-haired lady is observing the four of us, and she might be interested in one of us."

Duke sneered and said calmly, "In case you didn't know, let me remind you: she sleeps in the captain's cabin."

"So, Helen is the captain's wife?" Angel asked.

"How many serious couples are there among warlocks?" Felin scoffed. "In my opinion, most of them are just casual sex partners, just for fun. When they get tired of it, they break up and find new partners."

Angel frowned slightly, seeming to dislike these gossips, and changed the subject.

"Felin, how did your human family have griffon blood?"

"It's mainly through two methods: transfiguration breeding, or flesh and blood transplantation."

"Which method does your family use?" Allen followed up, curiously asking.

"Children make choices. Adults, of course, want them all!" Felin replied with a smile.
