Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Prejudice Against the Uchiha

"My heavens, I never thought the Hokage was such a person!"

"Exactly! You can't judge a person's heart by their outward appearance!"

"With such a leader, does Konoha Village even have a future?"

At that moment, Uchiha Fugaku stepped forward.

Seeing this, the crowd turned their curious gazes toward him, eager to hear about the Uchiha's experiences.

"Because our Uchiha clan refused to pay 'protection fees' to the Third Hokage, he constantly targeted us. Not only that, he deliberately stirred up conflicts between the Uchiha and the other major clans.

As a result, the Uchiha name was ruined, and we were ostracized within the village. All of you here—be honest—when you hear the name 'Uchiha,' don't you instinctively feel disgust?"

Fugaku's words plunged everyone into silence and deep thought.

They began recalling past encounters with the Uchiha clan, and realized that they did indeed seem to harbor subconscious prejudice.

"Could it really be true?"

"Yes… thinking carefully, when the Uchiha oversaw the Konoha Police Force, they always enforced the law fairly. They never engaged in corruption or favoritism."

"That's right. Then why did we have prejudice against the Uchiha before?!"

"Could it really be as the Uchiha clan head says—that all of this was orchestrated by the Third Hokage?"

"Of course! After everything he's already done, this would mean nothing to him!"

As the villagers continued their heated discussion, a group of civilian shinobi also joined in the debate.

"Perhaps the Uchiha's plight really was caused by the Third Hokage!"

"Yes, the Uchiha clan was never as terrible as outsiders made them out to be… Arrogant, maybe, but undeniably strong. Whenever I had Uchiha teammates on missions, I was always glad."

His words struck a chord with the surrounding shinobi, who nodded in agreement.

"That's true. Having an Uchiha as a teammate on missions greatly increased our chances of success."

"And let's not forget—the Uchiha's combat abilities are outstanding. Their taijutsu and ninjutsu are both formidable."

"They might not be very talkative, but as long as they get the job done, that's a trivial matter."

"Yes… maybe the Uchiha were simply too powerful, and that's why the Third Hokage targeted them!"

The shinobi increasingly leaned toward the belief that Sarutobi Hiruzen bore responsibility for the Uchiha's tragic fate.

At this moment, Uchiha Fugaku sensed the shift in atmosphere, and hope stirred within him. Perhaps this gathering could become the turning point to change the Uchiha's destiny.

"I believe the actions of the Third Hokage have already proven him unfit to hold the title," Nara Shikaku spoke calmly. "Therefore, I intend to unite everyone here and force the Third Hokage to step down so that we can choose a new leader who is truly capable!"

Though Shikaku's voice was not loud, his words carried clearly through the assembly hall. His declaration caused an uproar, sparking murmurs and whispers across the crowd.

"Our Uchiha clan agrees!"

"Our Hyūga clan agrees!"

"Our Aburame clan agrees!"

Following these statements, more clan heads stepped forward, voicing their willingness to ally with Nara Shikaku and collectively demand the Third Hokage's resignation.

In a single moment, the representatives of Konoha's great clans declared their intent. Their voices merged into a powerful force, shaking the very hall itself as though it might collapse.

The villagers present were stunned by this sudden development. They stared wide-eyed, unable to believe what they were witnessing.

After a long silence, someone finally spoke:

"If the Third Hokage really did all those things, then I agree."

Though his voice was quiet, it was like a stone dropped into a calm lake, setting off ripples that spread outward.

"That's right! If it's true, then I agree as well!" someone from the crowd shouted.

"Yes! We cannot allow such things to continue!" another added.

Gradually, more and more villagers joined the condemnation. Their voices merged into a deafening roar.

"Support the Third Hokage's resignation! Support Nara Shikaku's proposal! We need a new leader!"

"I believe Sarutobi Hiruzen is unworthy of the Hokage title!"

"I think so too!"

Seeing this, the clan leaders could not help but smile. This time, the Third Hokage was truly finished.

In the corner, several members of the Sarutobi clan witnessed the scene, their faces paling.

"The great clans are actually rebelling—we must inform the clan head immediately!"

Without hesitation, they scrambled and rushed back toward the Sarutobi compound.

Meanwhile, at the Root base.

Shimura Danzō frowned as he noticed the large crowd gathering outside the Hokage building. "What is Hiruzen doing? Why are so many people gathered outside the Hokage Tower?"

From the shadows, a Root operative emerged and bowed respectfully, asking if he should investigate.

Danzō nodded with a stern expression. "Go. Return quickly—do not waste time."

At his command, the Root member immediately departed, sprinting toward the Hokage Tower.

Danzō fixed his gaze in the direction of the building, muttering under his breath, "Hiruzen, Hiruzen… just what are you up to?"

Before long, the Root agent returned, clearly flustered.

Impatient, Danzō asked, "Well? Did you investigate? What exactly is happening at the Hokage Tower? Why are so many villagers gathered there?"

The Root agent drew a sharp breath, his face pale with shock, before quickly reporting:

"Lord Danzō, the heads of Konoha's great clans are gathered outside the Hokage Tower. In front of thousands of villagers, they have exposed the crimes committed during the Third Hokage's administration.

They accuse him of corruption, bribery, and abusing his power to suppress the clans—forcing Konoha into crisis.

Now, these clans have united and are demanding the Third Hokage's resignation to appease public outrage."

Danzō's eyes widened in disbelief. "What? You're telling me that the great clans are forcing Hiruzen to step down?"

"Yes, Lord Danzō. That is the situation," reported Genbu solemnly.

Upon hearing this, Danzō's expression twisted into delight. Suddenly, he burst out laughing.

"Hahahaha! Hiruzen, so even you have come to this end!"

Ecstasy surged within him. As one of Konoha's top advisors, if Sarutobi Hiruzen were to step down, his own chances of becoming Hokage would soar.

"No—I must see Hiruzen's downfall with my own eyes!" Danzō declared, leaving the Root base in haste as he made his way toward the Hokage Tower.

"The seat of Hokage… it will be mine! Hahahahaha!"
