Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

After consulting with Canto and looking through the map, I decided to hit the area in the north. The reason? There is a locked weapon room in that area. According to Canto, it was used by the local Arbites before they retreated because of the heretic. This room is untouched because the heretic does not have the access code. Canto can hack and open the door, but there is a problem.

The problem? There are at least fifty heretics in that area. Those are the numbers Canto can see through the working camera.

I don't need to kill them all at once, and I will do that. Currently, I am sneaking through the area, and Canto is kind enough to guide me.

{Two Infected are standing in the middle of the tunnel, blocking your path. They are the only ones infected in the area. You can take them out, Kael.}

I nod and walk through the tunnel and hide among the boxes. I put my weapon on the box and aim. I take a deep breath and press the trigger. I first kill the one who is not wearing a helmet and aim at the one wearing a helmet.

I shoot him in the leg first and finish him off with two hits to the head.

Because of a habit, I wait for two minutes to see if there is a hidden reinforcement, and when I see there is none, I continue my journey.

{The hidden weapon room is located in the room on the second floor, Kael. You can relax. Nothing in the area. All the cameras are working, meaning there are no blind spots in this area.}

Perfect. I walk to the stairs and walk to the room where Canto told me about. I watch the door open on its own, and I can see a lot of things inside.

I can see a lot of weapons inside. Most of them are what you see Arbites use in the game. There are Shock Maul, Suppression Shield, Shotgun, and Laspistol. However, other weapons exist, such as the autogun, chainsword, and combat axe.

That is not what catches my attention, however. What catches my attention are the Long-Las and the Bolt pistol. I snap from my thoughts when I see a notification appear in the corner of my vision.

Congratulations on finding an Untouched Weapon Room! You receive 1 Silver Ticket!

Huh? I get something by finding that? Well, it looks like Canto will be busy from now on.

I decide to roll now while I am in the safe zone and wait for a few seconds. I widen at the sight in front of me.

[Inventory]

Rare Ability

You have access to an inventory that you can store nonliving targets inside; the inventory's capacity is equal to the amount of weight you can carry.

Is Rob helping me?! This is perfect for me! I cannot store all of these inside my inventory, but I can store at least half of them and physically carry the rest of them. The first one I take is the Long-Las.

I stop and decide to take out the infinite magazine from my lasgun. I switched it with the power pack inside the box and put my trusty lasgun away. I put the infinite magazine near the Long-Las and watch it change size.

Long-Las is not using the same power pack. If I remember correctly, it is using something called a Hotshot Power Pack. It is a high-power energy magazine with liquid metal batteries that fires fewer blasts, though a single power pack is good for approximately twenty shots.

However, with my Infinite Magazine, it is not a problem. I decided to take the Bolt Pistol and Shredder Autopistol as my side arms. The Shredder Autopistol will be used to mow down a horde in case they reach my comfort zone, and the Bolt Pistol in case something needs an extra punch.

Of course, I can take out a Lasgun from my inventory if I run out of ammo for my side arms. I prioritized ammo instead of weapons and took what I could store inside my inventory.

And true to my prediction, I can carry almost half of it. I ignore the shield for now, but I will return for them. They can be used as a barrier to fortify my base.

For now, this will be enough.

"Let's return to the base for now, Canto. Can you watch my back?"

{Of course, Kael. You can use the previous one safely.}

I nod and leave the room while Canto locks the door.

==||==

I take aim through the scope of my sniper rifle and press the trigger. Unlike before, even with their helmet, my weapon kills the Infected with one shot. They look around because the Long-Las can mask their users' position by reducing the flash of all lasgun weapon releases.

Without wasting more time, I kill three more infected before they can finally locate my sniper nest. Sadly for them, I am too far away and able to kill most of them before they can take cover. With the help of Canto, I do not need to search for the people who manage to run away. One by one, I hunt them down.

When I am done killing them all, I release a sigh and see a bubble appear from the middle of the area.

With the area cleared, I open the notification that blinks in the corner of my eyes.

Congratulations on killing 50 Infected! You receive 2 Bronze Tickets!

With a smile, I use the ticket and watch as it rolls. After a few seconds, it stops, and I release a sigh.

[Rock Throw]

Common Ability

Conjure rocks and small stones and launch them as projectiles. They are not very powerful, but a rock thrown at your head always hurts.

A useless ability. At least it will help me unlock more ability slots. This is my fourth ability, and I only require two more abilities to unlock the third slot.

I press the roll button once again and use the last ticket.

[Intermediate Blacksmithing]

Uncommon Skill

You are experienced enough in blacksmithing to be called a real blacksmith. You know how to forge decent-quality weapons, armour, and various tools, enough that a warrior would use them without apprehension.

I clutch my head as a rush of knowledge enters my brain. It lasts for a few seconds, and I release a sigh. It is a useful skill, but something that I cannot use. I don't have any forge to make weapons or armor.

There is also the problem that the metal around me is not regular steel. They need a specialized forge that lets me mold the metal and turn it into weapons and armor.

With that done, I get up and prepare to leave. However, before I could even take a step, Canto showed me a video feed.

{Kael, there is a group of Infected herding a group of non-infected humans. From the audio feed, they are people who will be sacrificed.}

"Where are they going? And how many of them?"

As much as I want to help them, I don't think I can fight an army at the moment.

{They are going to your base. They are using the massive vault, and they will prepare to sacrifice the humans in the middle of the desert just north of your base. As for numbers, there are ten of them. They are all armed and fully equipped with armor covering their bodies.}

Shit. Should I help them? Argh. Fuck it. I will help them.

"Canto, search for a perfect place for a sniper nest. I will kill them from a distance."

{Roger! Searching… Found three locations that are perfect for sniper nests. Showing now…}

I look at the map and nod. I quickly run through the tunnel and return to the base. It is time for me to rescue some humans.
