Chapter 114 - DG 114: Drinks?

Germany, Einzbern Castle.

"So, what do you think of that notice?"

A makeshift strategy meeting.

Many were present, but only three were true decision-makers.

Alaric, Artoria, Kiritsugu Emiya.

Kiritsugu spoke first.

"The Church's intentions are unclear… but hiding our movements when we're already exposed would be utterly foolish."

"My suggestion is to have Illya register, while the rest of us stay in the shadows... "

Kiritsugu analyzed rationally.

Unlike other Masters, the three Fuyuki families were certain to participate in this Holy Grail War. Complete secrecy was meaningless… and sending Illya to register with the Church served a small personal motive of his.

Though he knew the Church wasn't trustworthy, with the Holy Grail War looming and their fates uncertain, he was willing to bet on the slim chance that, if he and Irisviel were forced to exit due to unforeseen circumstances, the Church would offer Illya basic protection.

"I also agree with registering."

Artoria's stance was firm.

She was the type who preferred games with clear rules, especially ones that suited her taste... fair and square, no harm to civilians. Those two points alone were enough to satisfy her.

As for Alaric's opinion?

"Come on, how many drinks did she have to end up like this?"

"Some insignificant nobody, and she really thinks she's the referee, setting rules for the game?"

Surprising?

Not at all.

Alaric and that little one had a good relationship, but that didn't mean he'd follow her every whim as "Santa Claus"… Even friends disagree sometimes, right?

"It's decided. Once we reach Fuyuki, we'll blast that Church to bits and let her sleep on the streets!"

This wasn't empty talk... he was definitely going to do it.

Well, fine.

"Then Illya and this white dragon will be in the open."

"Me, Irisviel, and Lancer will stay in the shadows."

About a week later.

The Fourth Holy Grail War was about to begin.

After final preparations, Kiritsugu and Irisviel headed to Munich's airport, bound for the [Einzberns' promised land].

Artoria traveled with them.

On the other side, Illya, a child, and a visibly reluctant Viviane chose a far more "spectacular" mode of travel...

[Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon]

"Wow, I've seen this in books!"

"It's a fighter jet!"

A fighter jet shaped like the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, with four jet-powered tail wings. Its ferocious dragon claws and wings might not align with aerodynamics... but it was undeniably cool and eye-catching.

Illya loved this jet, especially the red button in the cockpit that seemed to fire white magical energy blasts forward.

"See that plane ahead? Try aiming at it and pressing the launch button."

A dangerous suggestion.

But the clueless little girl didn't hesitate, pressing the button immediately.

A destructive white light shot from the jet's dragon head, hurtling toward the civilian airliner... but just as it was about to hit, the airliner executed an emergency roll, using turbulent airflow to veer off its flight path, narrowly dodging the [Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon]'s attack.

"Well done, Lancer!"

"Why is it attacking us? Has it gone mad?"

Irisviel's cheer and Kiritsugu's question rang out simultaneously in the cabin.

Artoria, gripping the controls, maintained a serious expression, using her A-rank Riding skill to expertly maneuver the airliner.

She understood exactly what Alaric was conveying:

"The war has already begun... "

"Don't expect me to hold back!"

A thrilling chase.

From Munich, Germany, to Fuyuki City, Japan, nearly every country along the route detected this high-altitude battle.

By comparison, Fuyuki's residents might need a bit more "luck."

"Boom... "

A final blue-white magical energy blast erupted from the dragon's mouth, grazing the wing of the emergency-landing airliner before striking the sky above Fuyuki's Church, unleashing a tremendous surge of energy.

A declaration of war.

Undoubtedly, this was a declaration of war.

Not just to the Church, but to all the Heroic Spirits and Magus who had arrived in this city, poised to wage war.

"Rules? What a load of nonsense."

"Come fight me... winner takes all, loser falls!"

The silver-white dragon jet circled Fuyuki's skies, as if a victor surveying its domain, before slowly vanishing from sight.

"Whoa, that dramatic?"

"We're fighting an enemy like that?"

The red-haired king gazed at the sky, looking utterly astonished.

Yet his face showed no trace of fear... only excitement. His warlike heart, dormant for millennia, seemed ignited by that explosive magical blast, surging with exhilaration.

The middle-aged man in red beside him frowned, smoking silently.

At the epicenter of the explosion, beneath the Church.

"Cough, cough... "

"That damn little white jerk, showing me no respect!"

Jeanne Lily was furious.

She'd been thrilled when she saw the white dragon jet appear in the sky... but when that magical blast targeted the Church, she knew this reunion wouldn't be as pleasant as she'd hoped.

As the explosion's aftershock faded, Jeanne Lily withdrew her magical energy, releasing the protective barrier around the Church.

She looked up at the now-empty, clear blue sky, her cheeks puffed out in a "I'm mad, and it's serious" Expression.

"Bad child."

"You've made Santa Claus angry!"
