Advika's pov:

The hallway buzzes with energy—students rushing around, some laughing, some stressed, and a few couples stealing quick kisses before heading to their classes. It all looks so effortless, so carefree. A small smile tugs at my lips as I take it all in.

Shaking off the momentary distraction, I walk further, my eyes scanning the classroom numbers until I finally find mine. Thank god, I'm on time. I step inside, quickly scanning the room for a seat. Most of the students are already settled, chatting in small groups.

I spot an empty seat beside a girl who looks friendly enough. Taking a deep breath, I slide into the chair. Please don't be another Sanya. I don't think I have the patience for another one of her.

The girl turns to me with a bright smile. "Hi! I'm Kashvi." Her voice is warm, her energy almost blinding—so much sunshine.

I hesitate for half a second before replying, "Hey, I'm Advika. Nice to meet you."

Her smile widens, and for the first time today, I feel at ease.

The lecture starts, and we exchange quiet glances whenever the professor says something ridiculously boring. Yeah, I think I like her already.

Once class ends, we have a short break before the next one. Kashvi stretches her arms dramatically. "Wanna roam around for a bit?"

I nod, chuckling. "Lead the way."

We step out of the classroom, the cool breeze hitting my face as we walk through the university corridors. Kashvi is practically bouncing beside me, her energy infectious.

"So, Advika, tell me... are you a nerd or a party animal?" she asks, tilting her head dramatically.

I snort. "Neither. I'd say I'm a 'sit-in-my-room-and-watch-random-stuff-on-my-phone' kind of person."

Kashvi gasps, clutching her chest like I just insulted her ancestors. "Unacceptable. How do you not get bored?"

"I myself have no clue." I deadpan, and she bursts out laughing.

We walk further, and she suddenly grabs my arm. "Okay, super important question. What's your take on coffee versus chai?"

I raise an eyebrow. "Coffee. Hands down."

She lets out a fake gasp. "Traitor. Chai is superior!"

"I don't hate it! But coffee is... coffee."

Kashvi narrows her eyes at me. "I'll forgive you for now, but only because you're cute."

I laugh. "Thanks."I say laughing .

We pass a group of guys laughing loudly near a bench, and Kashvi leans in, whispering dramatically, "By the way, if you ever hear the name Riday Oberoi ... run."

I blink. "What?"

She nods seriously. "That man is trouble. And dangerous. But mostly trouble."

I roll my eyes. "Well, thanks for the warning, but I already met him. And I don't plan on sticking around."

Kashvi stares at me like I just grew a second head. "You met him? "

I nod my head. "Long story. Just know that I already hate him."

She smirks. "Oh well every girl simps over him apparently ."

I internally roll my eyes . And yeah, Kashvi might be chaos, but I think I just found my first real friend here.

..

Classes have ended, and we're now sitting in the student lounge. This place is supposed to be for studying, but looking around, it's a whole different scene—people chatting, laughing, and... what the hell? Smoking? I mean, I know people smoke, but at this age? Damn, that's beyond reckless. Whatever. Not my business. I'm here to study, not to care about my surroundings.

Beside me, Kashvi is surprisingly quiet, her head buried in her notes. I honestly thought she'd never stop talking after the way she chattered through class, but she's fun, really. Guess she knows when to focus. Okay, I should start studying too.

"I'm going to get a coffee," I say, stretching a little.

"Get me one too, please," Kashvi replies, flashing a hopeful smile.

I smirk. "Oh, ab aapko coffee chahiye? What happened to chai supremacy?"

(Oh so now you want coffee?)

She pouts dramatically. "Coffee is fine, but chai is chai, yaar. And since they don't even have it here, I have no choice."

(Coffee is fine but tea is tea.)

I chuckle. "Aww, so sad. Fine, I'll get you one."

I walk over to the counter, grab our coffees, and turn back—only to come face-to-face with the most annoying piece of shit.

I don't even acknowledge his existence. Just move past him like he's invisible, but I can feel his gaze burning into my back. I don't turn. I reach my table and place the coffees down, taking a sip of mine.

A few minutes later, someone sits directly in front of me. Who the hell—

I look up. Oh, for fuck's sake.

Riday fucking Oberoi.

"Hi, Advika," he says casually, picking up my coffee and—what the actual hell—drinking from the exact spot I just sipped from. My lipstick mark is literally right there.

I stare at him, disgusted.

He smirks. "Ignoring me isn't a good decision, rose."

Rose?. And how does he even know my name?

I sigh, rolling my eyes. "I'm not ignoring you. I just don't want to waste my time talking to a stupid person."

His smirk doesn't fade. Instead, it deepens. "So now you've got the fucking guts to call me stupid?"

I lean back, unfazed. "I don't need guts to call a stupid person stupid. I just need a mouth." I give him a tight-lipped smile, enjoying the flicker of surprise in his eyes.

He nods slowly, stands up, and then leans in, his face dangerously close to mine.

"Now that you're so bold," he murmurs, his voice low, "we're going to have a conversation every single day. And it won't be nice."

And just like that, he walks away, leaving my heartbeat going haywire.

What the fuck just happened?

I blink, still processing, and turn to Kashvi—who's staring at me, mouth slightly open, eyes wide as saucers.

"Oh. My. God. ADVIKA, what the fuck did he just whisper?" she practically shrieks.

"Nothing. He's just a stupid person, let's leave it." I wave it off, trying to act normal, but Kashvi obviously doesn't let it go until I spill every detail.

After over two hours of pretending to study, we finally leave for our rooms. But no matter how hard I try, I still can't get his words out of my head.

Fuck my life.

Riday' pov:

Watching her cheeks turn red gave me a twisted sense of satisfaction. I wasn't going to do this—not until she had the fucking audacity to walk past me like I was invisible dust.

You don't get to ignore Riday Oberoi. Not unless you want trouble .

I move toward my idiot friends, and of course, they're already smirking, laughing like they know something I don't. I roll my eyes and drop onto the seat.

"So, found yourself a new girl?" Neil drawls, amusement lacing his voice.

I shoot him a glare. "The fuck are you talking about?"

Kabir grins. " Riday is finally over that stupid Sanya. Should we throw a party?"

What the fuck Sanya was just a fling , but I don't say this to them. I know how this goes—one comment turns into another, and before I know it, they'll spin some bullshit story in their heads. And right on cue, Aditi jumps in.

"You look at her differently."

Tisha and Aakriti nod like parrots. "Exactly."

Aditi keeps going, "Like, I don't know... with admiration? Which, by the way, you've never shown to any girl."

I let out a low growl. "What the fuck is wrong with you?" I scoff. "You're so deep in your own little love stories that now you think anyone who talks is in love?"

Annoyed as hell, I push off the chair and stride away. I'm not about to sit here and listen to their bullshit.

Just as I think I'm done with the day's stupidity, she appears.

"What was that, Riday?" Sanya's voice drips with suspicion.

I exhale sharply. "What was what?"

Her eyes narrow. "With that first-year girl."

I let out a dark chuckle. "Do I look like I owe you an explanation for everything I do?"

She crosses her arms, clearly not amused.

I lean in slightly, my voice dropping. "You're annoying as fuck, Sanya.Come in my way once more and I swear you are going to regret your existence."

I don't wait for her to answer. I stride toward my room, done with the entire fucking day.

..

The warm water rushes over me, washing away the exhaustion of the day. I step out, towel-drying my hair lazily before slipping into a black hoodie. Settling on the balcony, I grab a cigarette, as my phone buzzes.

Rivaan .

I answer, but the voice that greets me isn't his.

"Hii bhai!" A feminine voice chirps through the speaker.

I frown, already putting the cigarette down. "Tera phone ko kya hua, baccha?"

(What happened to your phone, kid?)

"Mumma ne le liya."She says.

(Mom took it.)

I can already picture her pouting. Kaira Oberoi—the younger sister the one who has always been by my side . She's got my back, and I've got hers. Always.

"Bhai, woh phir se math mein fail ho gayi hai. Tabhi toh Mumma ne phone le liya tha."Rivaan's voice comes through next. My younger brother.

(Bhai, she failed in math again. That's why Mom took her phone.)

We may be a chaotic trio, but we're solid. No one comes between us.

I sigh, running a hand through my damp hair. "Kaira bachaa, last time bola tha na ache se math padhne ke liye?" (Kaira, didn't I tell you to study math properly?) My tone softens, knowing damn well she'll tear up if her brothers go against her.

"Par bhai, maine try kiya tha... but still..."Her voice wavers, and I know she's on the verge of tears.

(But bhai, I tried... but still...)

I exhale, shaking my head. "It's fine, Kaira. I'll talk to Mumma, alright? Now, come on—Rivaan is going to buy you a cheesecake. Right, Rivaan?"

There's a beat of silence.

I smirk, already imagining my brother's irritated expression.

"Ab har baat pe mujhe hi kyun phasata hai?" Rivaan groans. "Baap ka naukar lagta hoon kya?"

(Why do you always trap me in these things?Do I look like a damn servant?)

"I'm not buying anyone any cheesecake!"

"Dekha, bhai?" (See, bhai?) Kaira whines. "He never buys me anything!"

And just like that, they both launch into an argument.

I sigh, cutting the call because if I wait for them to stop, I might be here all night. At least Kaira won't cry now.

Leaning back, I grab the cigarette again, lighting it up. The first inhale burns its way through my lungs, easing the tension in my body. The calm doesn't last long, though—because out of the corner of my eye, I see movement.

A girl steps onto the balcony opposite to mine.

Even in the dim lighting, I recognize her instantly.

Advika.

She's wearing a T-shirt—rose-printed, because of course she is—and shorts. Shorts so fucking tiny that they barely cover anything. Her legs are on full display, long and smooth, her skin glowing under the soft night light. Slender, toned, and damn near perfect.

My jaw tightens.

For a fleeting second, her eyes meet mine. It's just a glance, but she turns away instantly, acting like she didn't even see me.

Cute.

Even in the morning, she smelled like roses. Like something fucking addictive.

I smirk, taking another drag of my cigarette.

She thinks she can ignore me?

We'll see about that.

With plans forming in my head, I step back inside my room.
