The Smiling Soul: Taro Abodo
The young boy's life was simple, bound by the same repetitive routine. From a very young age, he struggled to communicate with others, found even basic tasks exhausting, and often felt overwhelmed by the work.
One day, he visited the doctor. He discovered that he was burdened with three cruel illnesses. The first was type one diabetes, sapping his strength and leaving his body fragile. The second, anemia, made him tired easily, even during ordinary activities. And finally, a rare tear gland disorder prevented him from shedding tears, no matter how intense his emotions became. The doctor was astonished... and was surprised how he had survived this long.
He chose to keep it a secret, hiding the truth from his mother and his best friend. Nobody needed to know the pain he carried; all that mattered was smiling for them. That was his philosophy: protecting others from suffering, even if it meant hiding his own.
Even without fully belonging to the Overworld, and without mistreating anyone, he endured quietly. He kept smiling through the pain. At least he was alive... that alone made everything slightly more bearable.
The reality was against him, yet he responded with a smile...
Loyalty and Friendship: Vincenzo Giannsoni
The child entered his new home, feeling unfamiliar and uneasy in the strange surroundings. He began learning… communicating… trying to understand… yet something still felt missing. His parents were strict and rarely paid him any attention.
One day, returning from kindergarten, he saw a group of children tormenting a smaller, weaker boy. Without thinking, his body moved on its own... he couldn't stand by while someone was being hurt. He rushed forward, defending the boy and landing blows at the bullies. He didn't care for his own safety; all that mattered was seeing the other child safe. Covered in dust and bruises, he still managed to make them run.
Noticing he could barely walk, the weaker boy helped him home. His new friend and the weak boy's mother tended to his injuries. As they played, laughed, and chatted together, the child realized what had been missing all along... not just friends, but understanding.
He thanked them and returned home. The next day, while heading back, the bullies reappeared. He ignored them, refusing to be provoked. However, the weaker boy tried to intervene... and was struck instead. That was the last straw. Anger surged through him, and he fought for him, sending the bullies fleeing once again. He helped his friend to his feet and asked if they could be friends. Without hesitation, the weak boy agreed.
They bumped fists for the first time... a small gesture that marked the beginning of a powerful friendship combined with loyalty...
The Broken Samurai: Yukiko Hiroshi
At night in Tokyo, a family gathered at the dining table... parents, their older son, and a black-haired little girl. They ate together, laughing and chatting, wrapped in the warmth of their home.
One day, when the little girl returned from school, everything changed. Her house was ablaze, swallowed by roaring flames. Through the window, she saw her family... burned, lifeless within the fire. She froze in horror, tears streaming uncontrollably as she screamed their names, wishing they'd return.
Beside her stood a young woman, silent yet heavy with hidden sorrow. Her sharp eyes caught sight of a devilish symbol marked before the burning home. Without a word, she embraced the grieving child and carried her away.
That woman became her master, raising the girl in the way of the samurai. Five years passed, and the once-fragile child hardened into a warrior. At last, the master placed a katana into her student's hands. The moment the blade touched her palms, the girl's black hair turned to a radiant sakura pink... a sign of the weapon's acceptance.
Her master urged her to travel far, to Brookhaven near New York, and even gave her the funds to begin anew. There, the girl rented a small house and continued her schooling. However, instead of finding peace, she found isolation... mocked, shunned, and ignored by those around her.
Until one day, a boy met her. Unlike the others, he did not look down on her. He spoke kindly, treating her as an equal. Their exchange was brief... he was in a hurry... but to her, it felt like sunlight breaking through years of storms. For the first time, she realized how long she had been empty, her heart consumed only by revenge.
Behind the mask of the cheerful kitsune, the young Sakura Samurai's soul wept in silence, carrying nothing but hidden tears...
