A smirk spreads across his face, settled there like it belongs, and he looks at Riley as if he is examining something unexpectedly interesting.
His eyes stay on him with an attention that does not wander, as though Riley is already a subject worth studying.
The stare makes Riley groan inside. I hope this isn't another psychopath he just met, he tells himself, holding the thought back behind a face that shows nothing.
