For a moment, the thought of leaving right now hits into Riley so hard. He can see himself running upstairs, shoving everything he owns into a bag, and disappearing without a trace.
His body almost reacts before his mind can stop it, his legs itching to move, to just get out before the walls close in completely.
But he doesn't.
He can't bring himself to do it.
Two reasons hold him back. Two anchors digging into him, refusing to let him move even though every nerve in his body screams at him to run.
The first is Skye. The thought of leaving without seeing him again, without saying anything, unsettles him more than he expected.
He treated Skye so poorly yesterday, if he left now, Skye would never know why. He would only remember the way Riley pushed him away, left him hanging.
Riley can't live with that. If he goes, he has to at least see Skye for the last time and tell him something, anything, to make sense of it. He owes him that much.
The second is Henry.
