Chapter 271 - TDP Chapter 270 Reverse Flash Barry

It was slightly different from the original plot.

In the original plot, when Starlight was captured, Homelander firmly stated that she had betrayed them, that she was an insider in The Seven.

But now, Homelander claimed that Starlight was merely misled by Super Villains, and even included The Deep, who was already dead, in his accusation.

This was clearly a change brought about by Kevin.

However, Hughie didn't care who brought about the change.

Starlight's capture instantly panicked him; he sprang from the sofa and stared blankly at the television, taking a long time to recover.

"I guess she should be held on the 42nd floor," Lamplighter said indifferently.

A panicked Hughie didn't hear what Lamplighter was saying; he picked up his phone to call Butcher.

However, Butcher's phone was unreachable.

"Damn it... What is Butcher doing?! Why isn't he answering the phone!"

Butcher hadn't told Hughie when he went on the mission with Frenchie and Marvin.

Hughie's task was to keep an eye on Lamplighter, and he didn't need to be informed about the mission to assassinate Neuman.

So now Hughie had no idea what Butcher was doing, nor why he couldn't reach Butcher's phone.

Fortunately, Hughie didn't completely lose his composure.

Upon realizing Butcher's phone was unreachable, Hughie immediately recalled what Lamplighter had just said:

"...You just said... the 42nd floor? What does that mean?"

Lamplighter rested his hands on the sofa and explained, "The 42nd floor of Vought has a special room, made of metal that can block most superpowers. Once someone is locked inside, they basically can't get out."

"Good... good!" Hughie paced back and forth, then suddenly asked, "How do we get in?"

"Get in? Don't be silly. Vought is heavily guarded; there's no way we can get in. And since she was caught by Homelander, she's probably more likely to be dead. You should just stay here."

"There must be a way!"

"Uh... I say, how about I help you guys... rescue her?"

As Hughie and Lamplighter argued, Barry, eating chocolate, walked in from the kitchen.

Since Kevin was busy with something Barry wasn't suitable to participate in, he, like Hughie, stayed here to look after Lamplighter.

And also to prevent Lamplighter from escaping.

He had heard all of Hughie and Lamplighter's conversation and, thinking he had nothing else to do, decided to help them rescue someone.

"You... you're willing to help?! Thank you so much!" Knowing Barry would help him, Hughie immediately said to Barry, moved.

Afterward, perhaps feeling it wasn't good to rely entirely on others, he added, "Uh... is there anything you need me to do?"

"No, no need. You just need to tell me the address."

Barry waved his hand at Hughie.

For a speedster, as long as they know the address, there's nowhere in this world they can't go.

Especially for Barry, who possesses Speed Force, this is even more true.

...

Kevin was not surprised to receive Barry's call.

By his calculations, it was indeed time for Starlight to be captured in this world.

Kevin hadn't mentioned this, as he had no obligation to warn this world's Starlight.

Although her appearance, name, and personality were highly similar, this world's Starlight was ultimately not the Annie Kevin knew.

Moreover, this world's Starlight didn't seem to like Kevin, so Kevin didn't specifically remind her what to do.

Anyway, with the protagonist's halo, she certainly wouldn't die.

That being said, Kevin had still left a safeguard with Hughie.

That was Barry.

If anything happened to Starlight, Barry definitely wouldn't stand idly by; he would find a way to rescue Starlight.

Just like now.

"You want to rescue Starlight? You can, but I also have a request."

Barry, on the other end of the phone, was stunned startled when Kevin said he had a request.

"What request?"

"After you rescue Starlight, you need to find a way to let people know that 'God of Mist' saved her."

"God of Mist...? What is this... a Superhero or a Super Villain...?"

"It's my current codename. As you understand it, it should be a Super Villain."

At this point, Barry immediately fell silent. Even through the phone, Kevin could feel Barry's speechlessness.

"You should know we're heroes, right?"

"Who says a hero from one world can't be a villain after going to another world?"

Kevin chuckled and then said to Barry, "Moreover, after you've learned about the Superheroes in this world, do you really think they deserve the title of Superhero?"

Barry had been in this world for some time now, and even if no one deliberately told him anything, he could understand from Kevin and Butcher's conversations, and the exchanges among The Boys, what kind of abominations the Superheroes in this world were.

To put it harshly, they were a bunch of demons in hero's clothing.

Barry didn't acknowledge them as Superheroes.

So when Kevin finished speaking, Barry quickly understood:

"So, the positions of hero and villain have been reversed now?"

"I told you you're smarter than me, Barry. All right, now go do what a 'villain' should do, and cause some havoc."

"Alright... but I still have one question."

At the end of the call, Barry asked, "Your villain name is 'God of Mist'... Honestly, that name sounds terrible, far worse than Aquaman, and it doesn't even sound like a villain's name... Ahem, never mind all that, I just want to ask... what should my name be?"

"You? Let me think..."

Hearing Barry ask this, Kevin tilted his head, stroked his chin, and then a mischievous smile suddenly appeared on his face as he asked, "How about 'The Reverse Flash'?"

"The Reverse Flash... The Reverse Flash..."

Barry mumbled a few times, his voice gradually growing excited: "Sounds pretty good? Okay, then I'll be called The Reverse Flash here!"

The movie version of Barry was completely different from the TV show version. The movie Barry had not yet encountered his destined rival, The Reverse Flash.

Therefore, Barry had no idea about the origin of the name The Reverse Flash and even thought it sounded great.

Flash becoming a bad guy was The Reverse Flash; Barry thought it was very fitting.

Although he didn't want to be a bad guy.

"Ahem, well then, I wish you a successful debut, The Reverse Flash."

Seeing Barry accept the name The Reverse Flash so readily, Kevin almost couldn't hold back his laughter. He struggled greatly to give Barry his blessings in a serious tone.

After hanging up, Kevin finally couldn't hold back his laughter.

Flash becoming The Reverse Flash, he truly wondered what expressions others would have if this Barry went to the TV show version of Flash and introduced himself as 'The Reverse Flash' to Flash.

He believed that would be very interesting.

However, the name Johnny Quick would also work, the name of the evil Flash in the Crime Syndicate team.

But that name didn't sound good; it completely lacked the imposing presence of The Reverse Flash.

Of course, this might also be due to Kevin's preconceived notions.

"Ex...excuse me, sir, are you done with your call?"

As Kevin was laughing uncontrollably, suddenly, a female voice came from beside him.

He instantly suppressed his smile, put down his phone, and turned to look.

Beside Kevin, a relatively young woman and a child who bore some resemblance to Homelander stood there.

They were Butcher's wife, Rebecca, and Homelander's son, Ryan.

That's right, after his 'God of Mist' debut, Kevin immediately went to the secluded place where Rebecca and Ryan were living.

What he had to do was simple: take the two away and leave behind the name 'God of Mist'.

"Sorry to keep you waiting. Where were we just now?"

Kevin put away his phone, sat up straight, and asked the two.

Holding her son tightly, Rebecca said with a trembling voice, "Just now... just now you said you would rescue us..."

"Yes, rescue you. I can guarantee to get you out unharmed, and even guarantee that Vought will never come looking for you again, but... Ms. Rebecca, you should understand the saying 'there's no free lunch in the world'."

"You... what do you want me to do? As long as it doesn't harm Ryan..."

Rebecca's voice held a hint of fear.

It was fear of Kevin.

She understood that Kevin was a Supe, and one who could silently arrive here and successfully take her and her son away.

Considering Vought's power, Rebecca knew just how powerful Kevin was to be able to stealthily infiltrate this place and also take them away.

But the more so, the more Rebecca feared.

She actually didn't want to leave here. She had been here for a long time and had long grown accustomed to her current life.

Moreover, Rebecca wanted to raise Ryan here and prevent him from encountering all the dirty things in the outside world.

She didn't want Ryan to become the next Homelander.

So staying here was best; in fact, leaving would only make her feel lost.

But Rebecca was also a smart woman. Having worked in Vought's public relations department, she clearly understood that when Kevin proposed to take her and Ryan away, it wasn't a suggestion for their salvation, but merely a statement of fact.

Rebecca had no right to refuse.

Then at least...

She had to ensure Ryan wouldn't be harmed.

"I think you might have misunderstood something, but never mind, it doesn't matter."

Seeing Rebecca's frightened expression, Kevin knew he had definitely been perceived as a bad person.

But Kevin didn't care.

Anyway, his current persona was that of a villain, and he should act like one.

Therefore, once he confirmed that Rebecca and Ryan were willing to go with him, Kevin smiled and raised his hand:

"Don't worry, I wouldn't lay a hand on a child. Now then..."

Mist suddenly rose all around them.

Thick mist obscured Rebecca's entire secluded cabin, gradually enveloping the figures of Kevin, Rebecca, and Ryan.

Seeing this, Rebecca nervously hugged Ryan tightly, shielding him firmly in her arms.

It was then that Kevin spoke the latter half of his sentence:

"...Let's leave here first."

With that, the dense mist completely covered everything around the cabin.

And likewise, concealed the three figures.
