Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Life on the Line

Train Rescue and City Slums

Johnson's hair glowed as he walked into the wreckage, pulling the driver out of the blasts. The man was badly injured.

"Hmmm… Jake, use REVIDE," Johnson commanded.

Jake hesitated. "Master, using that will reduce your lifespan in this world. Are you sure you want to proceed?"

Johnson smiled faintly. "Exactly why I'm doing this. It's not like I want to live in this world any longer." He sighed. "Use REVIDE on anyone injured."

With a whir of energy, Jake activated the skill. Johnson's life force drained, but one by one, the passengers and driver were healed as their wounds reversed.

Johnson exhaled. "Okay… let's wrap this up." At hyper-speed, his suit glowed, lightning shifting from blue to red to yellow, as he transported everyone back to the city gates. Then, he removed the train entirely from the track, letting it drop safely before releasing time.

Mike, reporting from the helicopter, stared. "A rainbow bolt of lightning… the train is no longer on the track! How is that even possible? The rock it was headed for has been smashed to bits, yet the train is intact, and the passengers are safe!"

The helicopter landed, and the cameraman and reporter approached the scene, still in shock at what had just happened.

Back at Johnson's home, Rose smiled.

Angela tilted her head. "Why are you smiling? Do you know who did that?"

Feigning ignorance, Rose shrugged. "Of course not. I don't even know that person. I'm just happy the kids are okay." She munched on her chips. "Well, thank God for that. I just hope Johnson gets home safely. That accident happened close to the restaurant nearby."

Rose, speaking telepathically to Jerry, teased, "Hey, you could have actually helped Johnson in this mission. So why didn't you?"

Jerry blinked, surprised at first, then calmed. "I didn't know you were a telepath."

"I am," Rose admitted. "But I only use it for important things. Angela doesn't even know about Johnson yet. So why didn't you help him?"

Jerry scratched his head. "If I had helped, he wouldn't have grown strong enough for the battles he might face. Besides, a king like me doesn't care about peasants."

Rose smirked and lightly knocked his head. "You know better than to lie to me. You were the one who buffed up Johnson before he left, right?"

Jerry winced. "Ouch… what was that for?"

Angela patted his shoulder. "Are you okay? Let me heal you."

Jerry waved her off. "It's okay. I'll be fine."

Mary returned from her shower, dressed in fresh clothes. "Is Johnson not back yet?"

Rose shook her head. "He's on his way. I can hear him close by."

Returning to Get His Order

Outside the city, at the restaurant, Johnson returned to pick up his order.

He changed back into his normal clothes and stepped onto an empty street, coughing up blood from exhaustion and stress. "Fuck! I used up my life force in the REVIDE process…"

Jake's mechanical voice suggested, "Master should rest and take transportation home."

Johnson shook his head and put on another mask beneath his hoodie. "No. I still have work to do." He approached the waiter. "My order!"

His mask slipped, revealing pale skin and red eyes from exhaustion. "Order!"

The waiter handed over twelve boxes of pizza and snacks. "Are you sure you can carry all this, kid?"

Johnson smiled. "It's no problem for me." With one hand, he effortlessly lifted all the boxes and exited the scene.

City Slums

The city's slums stretched below, a grim underground where xenomorph children and demi-humans were bought and sold as slaves. Humans sentenced to death were sometimes sent here, or fused with creatures. Those with low or no magic lived here, abandoned. The Stones family lived in these slums due to their inability to have children with abilities.

Johnson often passed by on normal days. Today, he shared the food he bought with the hungry, slipping through narrow alleys and helping those who rarely saw kindness.
