For the first hour, Dayo watched.
He watched because he had to. The release had been too important, the System wager too heavy in his chest, the people in the room too invested for him to pretend indifference. He had stood in JD Records and watched Beautiful Things move from song to event, from event to history, and from history into something none of them knew how to name.
But after the first-hour total was confirmed, after the applause settled and the staff began speaking in trembling voices about broken records, Dayo did what he always did after the beginning of a major release.
He stopped looking.
