Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2: APPEARANCE

Watching the sun setting, a pair of twins were seated side by side clothed in matching velvet robes that shone with the star's luminance waiting in front of a table. Dishes were arranged with ceremonial precision. Bowls of cloud-ear fungus floated in golden broth infused with qi-enhancing herbs. Plates of phoenix-tail fish, glazed in plum wine and garnished with spirit blossoms, shimmered with a faint iridescence.

"Brother... what elements do you think you awakened"

Feng Chen's eyes flashed with anticipation for the upcoming reveal which will decide their rest of the journey.

"Chen'er you awakened earlier than me, why did you not ask mother to complete your ceremony, as for me I don't really care as long as it's not some support type shit"

Feng Liren answered with a nonchalant tone as if this will not decide the difficulty of his future endeavor.

"Uuugh, why are you always like that don't you want to accomplish something big, don't you want to make our sect the best in the world."

"Our sect is already one of the best in the world there is no need to be so ambitious, we just need to do the bare minimum and live a long-long life with mother. Hmm but isn't it time for mother to come for dinner".

'I have already worked myself to my bones in my past life there is no way I am wasting this god given chance living in caves for how long who knows'

Just as Feng Liren was trying to diverge Feng Chen's attentionr, the lanterns flickered. A pulse of qi rippled through the air, making the dishes tremble. The doors blew open—not with violence, but with reverence.

She stepped in.

Her robes shimmered like moonlight on water, her eyes glowing with the weight of centuries. A faint aura of celestial energy clung to her—elegant, but unmistakably powerful. The twins eye glimpsed with unmistakable happiness.

"I'm sorry I'm late," she said softly, her voice carrying the warmth of a thousand lifetimes.

"The heavens tried to keep me."

She raised her hand, and the broth reheated instantly. The cracked bowl mended itself. The room filled with light—not from the lanterns, but from her presence.

"Mother are you alright?"

Feng Chen asked with scrutiny.

"Ooooh.... is my Long'er worried about his cute mother"

When Chunqinq teased him, he closed his mouth and narrowed his eyes in suspicion.

"Well, what were my two dumplings talking about"

"Mother!! when are you going to reveal our primary elements"

Feng Chen asked with clear impatience present in her tone.

"Aaaaa! I forgot about that, we will talk about that after the dinner"

Both twins glanced at each other, their suspicion growing stronger.

"And yes, one thing more Hanan will take you two tomorrow somewhere."

"What!!!!!!!!!"

Both twins exclaimed at the same time with surprise evident in their eyes.

"Is something going to happen at the sect tomorrow"

Feng Liren asked with such seriousness unusual for a ten years old that both the mother-daughter pair blinked at him surprisingly.

"Mother tell us what's happening, why are you behaving so weirdly".

Feng Liren ignored them and asked unblinkingly.

Just as Chunqinq was about to speak, she stopped and ran outside.

The twins seeing her also walked out and saw the three finger sized human figures high above in the sky. The three as if sensing our gaze disappeared and appeared fifty steps away from us.

The sole women among the dressed in flowing scarlet robes embroidered with serpentine patterns, moves like a whisper of perfume—graceful, intoxicating, and deadly. Her eyes are almond-shaped and glint with mischief, framed by long lashes and raven-black hair cascading down her back glanced at me, her expression contorted into something wicked.

"Out of everybody, I did not expect you to betray me Luo Zu, well I guess your love for your grandson exceeds the loyalty you feel towards the sect".

Chunqinq hissed and locked eyes with the bald man among three, towering and bald, with skin like weathered stone and arms thick as temple pillars. His robes are anything but simple, decorated with the rarest of jewels, but his presence is overwhelming. A jagged tattoo of a broken wheel coils around his scalp.

"And you my dear brother-in-law's bother, I always knew my sister's husband's brother was a lustful toad but I did not expect you a so called noble being to do something so despicable, did the little gift I gave you on you face not enough".

Chunqinq swore at the man standing in the middle, tall and lean, with raven-black hair swept back to reveal a jagged scar slashing across the bridge of his nose, his eyes, a piercing shade of ice-blue, flicker with amusement and calculation.

"Hahaha... Chunqinq last time I gave face to you since sister-in-law was present but now nobody would care about what happens to an exiled person, but don't worry I would make sure to pay you back in full before feeding you to the fishes".
