Chapter 13 - Family

Points and money are two different things.

For adventurers like Kyson who go out into the wild to hunt, they can earn points by killing monsters.

At the same time, they can also earn money by selling the things they got from their adventure in the wild.

Be it natural treasures like precious herbs or monster materials. All of that is worth some money.

Of course you can also trade it for points if you want.

However, it honestly depends on the thing that you're selling if it's worth using points to buy it.

While both are currency, points are more of a higher level currency than money.

And right now, Kyson has 28 points on his card.

Looking at it, Kyson can't help but be curious.

"Hmm, I killed quite a bit of mutated creatures this time and only got 28 points. I wonder what I can use this for."

At the moment, points are still unusable.

That's because when he registered, it was mentioned that he can only use it at the Adventurer Agency when it's established.

So, Kyson can only wait and see how things go until he can use it.

…

After coming out of the city hall, Kyson directly went back home.

Back at his house, he sat down on the sofa and turned on the TV.

However, even though his eyes are glued on the TV, his mind can't help but wander somewhere else.

Various thoughts about the recent changes appeared in his mind. Including what direction he should direct his life.

While Kyson was occupied with his thoughts, his phone suddenly started ringing.

Ring~ Ring~

It immediately snapped him out of his thoughts and he looked at his phone.

When he saw the caller ID, a look of surprise appeared on his face.

He hurriedly picked it up and answered the call.

"Hello, Mom?"

"Son, how are you over there?"

The one who called Kyson is none other than his mother.

Kyson's parents and other siblings live in the capital city, Mandila.

Originally, their whole family lives in the rural area where Kyson is living.

But when his eldest sister succeeded in her career, she unhesitatingly brought everyone to Mandila where she lives and works.

In their family, there's four of them siblings. Kyson is the third in line.

His eldest sister and brother are both working in Mandila. Both of them are already successful and his brother even has a wife now.

As for the youngest sister, she is still studying in Mandila at the expense of their older siblings.

Kyson's eldest sister also wanted to bring him to Mandila so that the whole family could live there where it's more prosperous and has a much better environment.

However, thinking that he's too old to still continue relying on them, Kyson decided to stay in this rural area and develop his own career.

Unfortunately, life is not as easy as it seems.

Now at the age of 22, Kyson feels like a failure for still not achieving anything and for not even attending college.

This frustrates him and makes him distance himself more and more unconsciously to his family.

Because of that, there's been less and less contact between him and them.

The last time that he talked to them was already 3 months ago when his mother celebrated her 54th birthday.

But with him having nothing on his name, Kyson didn't even go there and just greeted her through the phone.

Now hearing his mother's concerned voice, Kyson can't help but feel warm.

"I'm good here, Mom. There's no problem so far on my side. How about all of you there?"

"Well, we're also doing well. You know, your sister just…"

Kyson's mother started talking continuously about the things that happened to them in the past few weeks.

Kyson quietly listened to his mother's chattering with a smile on his face.

After almost half an hour, his mother finally stopped.

Then with worry in her voice, she said, "Son, you have to tell mom if you're having a hard time there, okay?"

"Your sister and brother here are already doing well. They will surely be able to help you as long as you say something."

"With the world changing like this now, it has become more dangerous for all of us. So, Son, please come here with us. We should help and rely on each other because we're family."

Hearing his mother's words, Kyson was silent for a while.

On the other side of the phone, Kyson's mom noticed this and she couldn't help but sigh helplessly.

'It seems he still doesn't want to rely on his older brother and sister.'

Thinking of that, she was about to say something to dismiss what she just said.

But at this time, Kyson's voice reached her ears and she heard something she didn't expect.

"Alright, Mom. I'll go there soon to visit you and Dad. I just have to sort some things here before I leave."

Hearing such unbelievable words, Kyson's mother thought she might be going deaf or hallucinating.

So, she hurriedly cleaned her ears and said,

"W-wait, Son, what did you say? Can you repeat it again? I don't think I heard it right."

"I said alright. I will visit you soon, Mom."

After hearing Kyson say it again and confirming that she wasn't mistaken, Kyson's mother suddenly bursts into tears.

"Huhuhu, my son, you're finally willing to see us here. That's great, that's great, Son. Huhuhuhu."

"Okay, Mom will get ready for you to come here. Mom will be waiting for you. Make sure to immediately message you when you're about to come."

Hearing his mother continued talking about this and that, Kyson just smiled and agreed with her from time to time.

Finally, after talking for an hour and reminding Kyson to call her when he's about to go there, they ended the call.

Looking at his phone, a smile on Kyson's face could be seen.

"Don't worry, Mom. Your son already found what he's good at. It's finally time to show you my successful side."
