Chapter 122 – Little Kitten
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Tsunade snapped, her tone sharp and full of anger.
Yusuke tilted his head, looking puzzled. "Huh? What do you mean?"
"That boy was Jiraiya's student! How could you do something like that to him?!"
"Ah, so that's what this is about..." Yusuke scratched the back of his head, looking a little flustered. "I didn't mean for things to go that way."
"You better not let Jiraiya find out, you brat. He won't let you off easily," Tsunade warned, her tone softer but her glare still piercing.
"Why not?" Yusuke asked, tilting his head slightly.
Tsunade crossed her arms and sighed, calming down a little. She knew this man. No matter how arrogant he seemed, Yusuke wasn't the type to murder someone just to steal a pair of eyes. Not even if it were the Rinnegan.
"…Because I know you," she muttered. "You're not that kind of person."
"Well..." Yusuke lowered his gaze slightly, a rare somber look crossing his face. "I never planned to take these eyes. They were given to me... by the Great Toad Sage. These belonged to the Sage of Six Paths. I'm just borrowing them for a while."
"That eye... wasn't it once Nagato's?" Tsunade blinked in surprise, her brows furrowed.
She recalled Jiraiya once mentioned that Nagato's Rinnegan lacked tomoe markings. But the one Yusuke had... was different—there were six tomoe circling the ripple patterns.
"Of course not. I didn't want to implant it so soon either, but... the Great Toad Sage insisted. I couldn't exactly say no," Yusuke replied casually.
"I see... I almost thought you did something unforgivable," Tsunade sighed, placing a hand over her chest, as if trying to calm her heart.
"C'mon now, would I ever stoop that low? I've still got my principles," Yusuke said with a grin.
"Tch... whatever. Anyway, how strong is that eye of yours?" she asked, narrowing her eyes in curiosity.
"Hmm... it's pretty powerful. It's the ultimate Dojutsu—it can control life and death itself," he answered as if it were a normal topic.
"Control... death? Are you serious?" Tsunade's expression darkened.
"Yeah. But... I can't use that part of it yet. The risks are too high right now," Yusuke admitted with a deep breath.
Even with his body reinforced by the Phoenix Fruit, he still didn't dare use the Rinne Rebirth technique recklessly. Not without something stronger—perhaps another powerful Devil Fruit to balance the strain.
"Is that so..." Tsunade looked down, visibly disappointed.
"Don't worry. I promise I'll master it someday," Yusuke said with a reassuring smile.
"Really?" she glanced up at him, her voice soft.
"Of course. That's not a big deal for someone like me," he replied lightly, grabbing her hand. "Now come on, let's head to that restaurant before it closes."
And just like that, their mission in Kumogakure came to a close—more like a vacation than anything else.
Ever since the clash with the Raikage, Team Ino-Shika-Cho rarely saw Yusuke. He only showed up during the Chūnin Exams, often accompanied by Tsunade.
"Hm... Tsunade, come with me to see the Raikage for a moment," Yusuke suddenly said.
"Huh? Why are you going there again?" she asked, confused.
"He still owes me something. Don't think I've forgotten." Without waiting for a reply, Yusuke grabbed Tsunade's hand and instantly teleported them to the front of the Raikage's office.
"Stop right there! No one enters without Raikage-sama's permission!" three Kumogakure shinobi blocked their path.
"Oh? Funny, since the Raikage still owes me something. Guess I'll have to take it myself," Yusuke said with a smirk.
"What did you just say?!" one of the guards growled, clearly agitated.
"Move aside. Don't make me use force," Yusuke's voice dropped into a colder tone.
He didn't appreciate being stalled, especially when he'd been promised something. And now, these guards had the nerve to interfere?
"Who the hell are you, brat?!" one of them barked, stepping forward aggressively.
Shinobi from Kumogakure were known for being hotheaded and quick to anger. Without further warning, the guard launched an attack.
"Don't go overboard. This is still Kumogakure," Tsunade cautioned.
"Relax. They won't die," Yusuke replied with a calm smile.
As the two shinobi attacked, Yusuke activated his Limitless Technique, unleashing the Infinity field around him.
Invisible energy lashed out.
Both attackers were sent flying, their limbs nearly erased from existence as they slammed into the Raikage's office wall with violent force.
"GAAAHH!" they screamed.
"Hatake Yusuke... is that you?!" a blond-haired ninja arrived just in time to witness the scene.
"Huh? Do I know you?" Yusuke tilted his head, pretending not to recognize him.
"You bastard! I'm the Raikage's guard! How dare you attack people in Kumogakure?!" C—also known as Shi—snarled in anger.
"Ah, right. I remember now. You were with the Raikage at the Chūnin Exams in Sunagakure. And during the Five Kage Summit, too," Yusuke said with a hint of amusement.
"Anyway, go call the Raikage for me," he added nonchalantly.
"You think—" But Shi suddenly stopped mid-sentence. He felt it.
So did Yusuke.
An enormous surge of chakra was gathering nearby.
"That's not the Raikage... it's the Two-Tails?" Yusuke muttered, a smile playing on his lips.
"Come on, Tsunade. Let me show you something fun," he said playfully.
They instantly teleported high into the air, overlooking the battlefield below.
"Oh... so that's the Two-Tails. Much more pleasant to look at than the Eight-Tails," Yusuke commented with a grin.
"Definitely easier on the eyes than the Nine-Tails, too," Tsunade added.
"Yeah, well... it is just a little kitten, after all," Yusuke said, chuckling softly.
At that moment, the massive blue-flamed feline below—Matatabi, the Two-Tails—lifted her head, as if hearing Yusuke's voice.
"Heh. So the little kitty noticed me," Yusuke said, his smile widening.
Raikage and the other Kumogakure shinobi finally realized the two unexpected visitors watching from above.
"Hatake Yusuke! What the hell are you doing here?!" Raikage bellowed from the ground.
"Oh? Uncle, uncle, you're so forgetful. Weren't you supposed to give me something? Or do I need to take it myself? Don't tell me... you've got early-stage dementia?" Yusuke mocked without mercy.
Raikage's face twisted in rage.
'Now's not the time to pick a fight,' he thought, clenching his fists. He couldn't afford to be reckless.
"Hmph. Of course I haven't forgotten. I'm just... busy," the Raikage said as he turned back to Matatabi.
Of all the Tailed Beasts, the Two-Tails might not be the strongest, but her speed made her incredibly difficult to control—even the Eight-Tails struggled to keep up with her.
"Well then, you guys keep doing your thing. I'll pretend I saw nothing," Yusuke said casually.
But of course, Matatabi didn't share that sentiment.
No one called her a "little kitten" and got away with it.
With a feral growl, the enormous feline cloaked in blue flames leapt straight at Yusuke.
"Oh dear. You've picked the wrong person to mess with," he said, raising his hand and unleashing a concentrated blast of energy.
The shockwave blew Matatabi backward.
She roared and retaliated, launching a giant ball of blue fire.
"Sigh... still trying, huh?" Yusuke raised two fingers.
"Domain Expansion: Infinite Void!"
The space around them warped into an endless white void.
It wasn't a true Domain Expansion—Yusuke hadn't fully mastered the technique yet. But the illusion alone created a powerful barrier that shielded both him and Tsunade from the attack.
He wouldn't let her get hurt.
"Conqueror's Haki." Yusuke decided to end the game.
A terrifying aura erupted from his body and surged toward Matatabi.
Dark purple lightning crackled through the air as the pressure forced the Tailed Beast to crash violently into the ground.
This was no ordinary Haki.
It was a fusion of Conqueror's Haki Infusion and his Limitless Technique—a deadly combination of power and control, entirely of Yusuke's own design.
