Chapter 93 - That Child Will Bear the Senju Name

Chapter 93 – That Child Will Bear the Senju Name

"I wonder what brings the head of the Uchiha Clan to my humble home today?" Sakumo Hatake asked, raising an eyebrow with genuine curiosity.

"Please, Sakumo-sempai, there's no need to be so formal. Just call me Fugaku," replied Uchiha Fugaku with uncharacteristic humility.

That only deepened Sakumo's curiosity. Everyone knew the Uchiha Clan for their pride—especially its current head, who was rumored to be as proud as he was powerful.

"I'm here on important business today. It concerns my son," Fugaku continued.

"There's no need to hesitate. Go ahead and speak your mind. I'm listening," said Sakumo, gesturing for him to continue.

"I want my son to be trained... by Yusuke."

Sakumo blinked. "You want him to become Yusuke's student?"

"That's right."

Sakumo let out a low chuckle. "Unfortunately, that's not a decision I can make. You'll have to ask him yourself."

As if on cue, Hatake Yusuke stepped out from the house, his tone flat but not unfriendly.

"I don't mind guiding Uchiha Itachi. But don't expect me to take him on as an official student."

Fugaku was stunned for a moment—but then his lips curved into a rare, satisfied smile.

"That's more than enough, Jonin Yusuke. I'm truly grateful."

Yusuke nodded casually.

"Then I'll take my leave. Sakumo-sempai, if you ever have time, you're always welcome at the Uchiha Compound."

With a few more polite words, Fugaku turned and left.

"I didn't think you'd actually agree to that," Sakumo said once the man was gone.

Yusuke gave a small laugh. "I'm just giving him a little guidance—it's no big deal. Besides, the kid's got potential. His ninjutsu talent might even surpass Kakashi's."

Sakumo raised a brow. "The Uchiha are impressive, sure. But is that enough to make you train him personally?"

As his father, he knew full well just how terrifying Kakashi's natural gifts were. For someone to be considered even slightly above him? That was no small thing.

"You're overthinking it, old man," Yusuke said with a grin. "You're getting senile, maybe? I just see talent and respect it. That's all. I'm not some big-shot or anything."

"You really can't go one day without running your mouth, can you?"

"Stop worrying about me already. I'm a grown man now."

"You call that grown up? You still talk back to your own father like a brat."

Yusuke only laughed and disappeared in a golden flash, leaving Sakumo shaking his head and chuckling under his breath.

"Damn rascal."

Later that day…

"You came, Yusuke-nii!" Itachi greeted him with a bright smile.

"Of course I did. I promised your father, didn't I? That means I'll be giving you proper training."

"Now then… show me everything you've learned so far. All the ninjutsu you've mastered."

"Yes, Yusuke-nii!"

Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique.

Fire Style: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique.

Fire Style: Dragon Fire Technique.

One after another, Itachi unleashed his Fire Release techniques with impressive form and control. Beads of sweat began to gather on his brow.

"That's enough," Yusuke said, raising a hand. "I've seen what I need."

He had to admit—it was terrifying. Despite only using basic C-rank ninjutsu, the amount of chakra and precision behind them was extraordinary. Even his hand seals were blisteringly fast, faster than most chunin—maybe even faster than Yusuke himself had been at that age. If he kept training, he might soon be able to perform six seals in a single second.

Of course… Yusuke didn't need hand seals at all anymore.

"Alright, we'll start your training from here. Every time you clear a milestone I set, I'll teach you one new ninjutsu."

"I understand, Yusuke-nii-san!"

"Good. A shinobi must always have a strong foundation—both physically and spiritually. Think of the body as a bucket, and chakra as the water that fills it. The larger and sturdier your bucket, the more chakra it can hold. So for the next month, you'll be focusing purely on physical training."

"I understand."

"Use this. No matter what, don't take it off—unless your life is in danger." Yusuke handed him a pair of weighted training gear, once worn by Kakashi.

"Yes, Yusuke-nii."

"By the way... you've awakened your Sharingan, right?"

"Yes."

"Then go. Start training."

Yusuke watched as Itachi, already worn out, pushed himself even harder. The boy's resolve didn't waver. Despite the exhaustion, his eyes never lost focus.

With this level of talent—and that kind of will—if fate allowed, he might one day surpass even Uchiha Madara. That was no exaggeration.

Later that evening…

"Oi, brat. Heard you're training an Uchiha kid now?" Tsunade said, walking up with a raised brow.

"Yeah. You know him?"

"I've heard of him. A new prodigy from the Uchiha Clan, right? They say his potential might rival even Minato's."

"That's true." Yusuke nodded. "His tactical thinking is top tier, too."

In the future, Itachi would be able to use Tsukuyomi-level genjutsu without his target even realizing they'd been caught. Even elite genjutsu users like Kurenai wouldn't stand a chance. That alone showed just how terrifying he would become.

Secretly, Yusuke wondered… if Minato and Itachi had lived in the same era, who would have come out on top?

Tsunade let out a long sigh. The Uchiha Clan just kept churning out geniuses—Shisui, and now Itachi. Meanwhile, the Senju Clan was down to… just her.

"You jealous?" Yusuke asked casually. "If that's the case… we can just make sure our kid carries the Senju name."

"Wha—! Who said I'm having a kid with you, huh?! Go knock up Kurenai or something if you want children!"

Since the war, Tsunade and Kurenai had grown close enough to understand each other's place in Yusuke's life.

"Hahaha!" Yusuke dashed off, laughing.

"You jerk!" Tsunade, flustered and annoyed, ran after him.

Their chase ended in a quiet, open field, away from the noise of the village.

"You remember this place?" Yusuke asked with a nostalgic smile.

"Of course. This is where you taught me Haki."

"How about a rematch?"

"No thanks. You and I… we're on completely different levels now," Tsunade said with a smirk.

"Can't believe the Princess Tsunade would actually admit defeat."

"I just don't want to fight when there's no challenge," she shrugged.

They lay back in the grass together, watching stars twinkle above them—soaking in the kind of peace that had become rare.

"Hey, Yusuke… Were you serious? Back then?"

"About what?"

"About… the child carrying the Senju name," Tsunade asked softly, her cheeks faintly red.

"Of course. But the second one has to be a Hatake, deal?"

"...Thank you, brat," she whispered.

"Between the two of us, maybe it's time we stopped using that word."

"Tch. I was just trying to be polite!"

Yusuke laughed again. This side of Tsunade—half-blushing, half-snappy—was one he wouldn't trade for anything.
