"So, the reason you came to see me—was it because the negotiations didn't go through?"
Kamisato Ayaka shook her head with a smile. "They've already been finalized. We came to see you purely out of curiosity."
"Curiosity?"
Ayaka nodded. "That's right. Miss Rita mentioned that Honkai Impact 3rd was developed almost entirely by you alone, so…"
Before she could finish, Yae Miko's lips curved into a sly smile as she cut in:
"So naturally, we were curious. For someone to singlehandedly create a game as brilliant as Honkai 3rd—surely this producer must have three heads and six arms~"
Mo Li raised a brow. "And now that you've seen me in person, what do you think?"
Yae Miko rested her delicate chin in one hand, letting her eyes roam over him from head to toe before giving her verdict:
"Other than being handsome, I can't see anything else~"
"That sounds like a compliment… but somehow it doesn't feel like one." Mo Li narrowed his eyes with mock suspicion. "How about you say it again? I'll listen carefully this time~"
Both girls covered their mouths, laughing softly.
"Ah, I see another good quality now," Yae Miko teased. "A sense of humor~"
Ayaka chimed in with a smile. "Confident, yet not arrogant."
"Mm, very charming," Miko agreed.
And it wasn't flattery—they truly meant it.
In Sakura Nation, they had met many accomplished young men.
But those men always carried an air of superiority when looking at others.
They hid it well, but their eyes inevitably betrayed them.
Miko could see through it almost instantly.
Not that she despised such people. On the contrary, she understood it.
It was human nature.
Any young man who gained wealth and success was bound to change in mentality.
Sometimes, he didn't even realize it himself.
And honestly, there was nothing wrong with a bit of pride.
A man who made something of himself deserved to feel that way.
But whether they understood it or not, Miko and Ayaka still disliked being around men like that.
That gaze made them uncomfortable.
Mo Li, however, was different. In their eyes, he too was a successful man.
Yet his mindset remained calm and steady.
Confident—yet utterly free of arrogance.
That surprised them, and left them with a much better impression than they had expected.
Of course, the real reason Mo Li could remain so grounded… was simply because he had self-awareness.
His accomplishments hadn't been earned through his own abilities, but through the System.
So yes, he was confident because of what he had achieved.
But humble, because he knew it wasn't truly his own doing.
"Heh~ The two of you are quite captivating yourselves. If I had the chance, I'd really like to bring you into my studio."
Ayaka blinked at him in surprise. Inwardly, she wondered: "Could it be… he's only interested in our looks?"
It wasn't vanity on her part. She and Miko had dealt with such situations before.
With appearances like theirs, it was almost inevitable that others would harbor such thoughts.
That was why they never drank anything handed to them, nor allowed strangers to get too close.
Even the tea Mo Li had just poured—they hadn't touched it.
Yae Miko's eyes gleamed mischievously, her lips curving. "Oh my~ So on our very first meeting, Boss Mo Li already has his eyes on us?"
"And not just one of us… but both, at once~"
Mo Li chuckled, shaking his head. "Miko, you jest."
His gaze grew earnest as he looked straight at her.
"No, truly—I want both of you to join miHoYo. With our studio's potential, I believe there's a real chance to recruit you."
That left both women genuinely startled.
From his tone… he really did mean it.
Still, they couldn't help wondering—did he want them for their skills, or simply their beauty?
Exchanging a quick glance, Ayaka gave a polite smile. "Boss Mo Li, you haven't even seen our abilities. How can you be so sure we'd make excellent employees?"
Mo Li nodded firmly. "Because Rita told me."
"I see…"
Hearing that, both Miko and Ayaka felt their hearts stir.
After all, miHoYo truly did have incredible potential.
And truth be told, they weren't particularly happy at their current studio.
Most of their colleagues were men. And nearly all of them had… ideas.
It wasn't that they disliked men in general. But every day, someone would come by to fawn over them.
For a short while, it was flattering—being treated like goddesses wasn't unpleasant.
But over time, it became exhausting.
Accepting constant favors made them feel guilty.
Rejecting too often risked souring workplace relationships.
And in a place where they saw the same faces every day… sour relations meant an impossible work environment.
Just as their thoughts were spinning, Mo Li dropped another trump card.
"You've probably noticed—aside from me, nearly everyone in our studio is a girl. If you were to join us, you'd fit right in instantly."
"They're all gentle girls who love games. Who knows? After a while, you might even gain a whole circle of close girlfriends~"
Those words… genuinely tempted them.
They lifted their eyes, studying Mo Li carefully, trying to see into his heart.
Beautiful women always had to be cautious, after all.
Mo Li didn't press. He only smiled.
"Don't worry, it's just an offer. If you're not interested, it won't affect our cooperation in the slightest."
Ayaka's expression softened, gratitude in her eyes.
Yae Miko's smile bloomed again. "Thank you for your trust, Boss Mo Li…"
"As for your proposal… may we have some time to consider it?"
"Of course," Mo Li nodded. "Once you've decided, you can always contact Rita."
"Or just call me directly~"
"Thank you so much…" Ayaka bowed deeply to him.
Mo Li smiled. "If you're not in a hurry to leave, why not stay at our studio for a while? You could meet the other girls, get to know them first."
"Of course, once the agency contract is signed, you'll be free to come and go as you please~"
