Chapter 7 - Demon vs Wings

He dropped his hand back to his and, slowly turning his head back, noticed Theo had his attention back on Crow.

He turned his body fully, then tucked on his collar, sighing.

"Damn this heat. It's getting worse, and that run-in with th-"

The ground shook rapidly; instantly, hundreds of people lost their balance and fell. The shaking was strong, really strong, reminiscent of the 'Cracking.'

Fuck, what's happening now?!

A panic erupted aloud, and screams filled the air.

An earthquake? No.

Riche stumbled back and forward, barely managing to keep his balance.

"Whoa, whoa!"

As everyone was focused on keeping their balance, a scream sounded loudly, followed by a chilling voice of a woman.

"The sky!" The woman pointed to a spot in the middle of the sky, and suddenly a small black slit appeared in the middle of the air between where Theo and Crow stood, and where Riche was.

Everyone glanced at it, and a silence fell over the field.

Riche looked to Crow and Theo, who seemed ready in stance as their hands hovered over their weapons.

Seconds passed, as they stared in anticipation, and suddenly, a long pitched black leg stepped out from the slit, and as it continued, its whole body appeared from the slit.

The being was tall, almost human-like, but not. Its feet were long and its toes curled just like its long fingers that circled into fists.

It had beautiful, long white hair and pure white eyes that had no pupils. Its face, its skin, its body, was purely jet black; no light could ever pierce it, but the glowing white lines that ran down its chest were inked to its skin almost like tattoos.

It was a demon.

As it fully appeared, its head turned down, looking at the scared faces that pleased its confidence. Then it let out a loud high high-pitched screech that ruptured the ears of those closest and filled the air with a bloodlust.

Riche quickly covered his ears, one with his hand, and the other with the book, then squinted his eyes.

People started falling to the ground, some had screamed in pain, and others got the worst of it, passing out completely. Nobody but a few could handle it.

Suddenly, the screech stopped, then so did the shaking.

Without hesitation, Crow jumped in a dash towards the demon. She quickly unsheathed her sword, coated the blade with the same black glow, and as she closed the gap, she threw her arm and white, then whistled her blade towards the demon's body.

As the blade inches towards the demon's body, it goes straight through, like it didn't exist at all.

Without moving, the demon reached its arm back, catching the back of Crow's head with the entirety of its hand, palming it.

Suddenly, she felt her body going the opposite way, and the creature let go of her head, throwing her back to the ground quickly.

Her body flipped through the air, but before she hit the ground, she twisted her body upright, landing almost gracefully next to Theo.

She swiped her hair away from her face, then looked to Theo, who met her gaze with a puzzled expression, almost shocked that she was thrown back so easily.

"Nothing?"

"Nothing, my blade went straight through it. An error of attributes, I assume, so I can't use the dark coat anymore," Crow responded.

Theo smiled, then reached over his shoulder to where a golden hilt presented itself from a similarly gold sheath on his back.

"Then, should I take over?"

He pulled on the hilt, revealing a thick white blade three times the width of Crow's. He gripped the hilt tightly with both hands and held it out in front of him, facing its sharpness to the demon's eyes.

He crouched down, but before he leapt away, Crow stopped him.

"Wait…"

Suddenly, she sheathed her blade, expelling the dark coat, then brought it back out.

"Let's go at it together, Hawk."

Theo laughed.

"You always want to be a part of the action."

He walked up to Crow, stopping right by her side.

They both looked towards the demon.

"Well then, shall we?"

"We shall."

At the same time, the two crouched down, then they leapt off their feet, dashing into the air towards the demon. Their figures rapidly strided the air, creating streaks of wind that caused the grass to sway in the opposite direction.

Theo reached his blade above his head and then swung it straight down. Simultaneously, Crow threw her arm out again, then swung her blade towards the demon.

Swiftly, the demon dodged Theo's blade, then stretched its torso, limboing under Crow's blade. It then grasped the back of both of their heads and threw them far from where they began, distancing their chemistry.

Crow and Theo landed perfectly on the grass.

After a fraction of a second, they each turned into a sprint, dashing through the crowd of people, dodging people as they ran with a blur following them.

It became hard to track their movements, as the whole field had become their battlefield,

As they reached what presumably seemed like the demons' sides, they both jumped at the same time, perfectly synced together like wings.

This time, Theo chanted something loudly, then suddenly a golden light illuminated his right hand. Quickly, he swiped his hand over his sword, coating it with the gold glow.

Closing the demon, he swung his sword from the side, and so did Crow, but they missed again and were thrown back to the ground.

However, they never gave up and continued launching themselves at the demon, searching for a weakness.

As they did, everyone on the ground only watched in disbelief. Nobody wanted to join in; it was a conscious fact, going into battle with those two would be pointless, nobody could ever keep up with them. They were the strongest of all Details and by a huge margin.

After continuous attempts, Crow and Theo finally noticed something odd about the demon; its feet never moved, like they were constrained.

They didn't know why; it wasn't moving its feet, but each of them knew this was their chance, the wake they had been looking for.

Such an odd weakness to have.

They dashed towards the demon, one last time their blades soared towards the demon's legs…

A voice suddenly sounded:

"Strong as ever, little Luminaries."
