The morning buzzed with activity. Lunchboxes snapped shut, shoes were hurriedly buckled, and Zane had somehow managed to get peanut butter in his hair, again.
"Zane, how, why..." Talia trailed off, wiping his curls with a damp towel.
"I was checking if it smells the same on my head," he said innocently.
Luna rolled her eyes. "That's not how science works."
Ethan choked back a laugh as he zipped up Luna's tiny pink jacket. "She's not wrong."
The twins were only three weeks into school, and already little routines had formed. Zane hated wearing socks. Luna insisted on picking her own hairstyles, today's look included glitter clips and a tiara. And every morning ended with a dramatic goodbye at the gate as though they were off to war instead of pre-K.
Talia kissed their cheeks. "You've got this. And remember, no biting."
Zane blinked innocently. "What if someone steals my crayons?"
"No biting," Ethan said firmly.
Meanwhile… Back at the house.
