Chapter 3 - My Boss is the Devil

Aria flopped onto her bed that night, still fuming. She pulled out her phone, fingers flying over the keyboard.

StarrySky ➤ Lumos:

You won't believe what my boss said today!

A reply came almost instantly.

Lumos ➤ StarrySky:

What happened? Tell me.

Aria rolled onto her back, glaring at the ceiling. "He told me to stop singing! Can you believe that? STOP. SINGING!" She typed furiously.

StarrySky ➤ Lumos:

He's literally the devil in a designer suit. No, worse. He's a robot programmed to destroy happiness.

Across the city, in his penthouse office, Daniel Cross nearly choked on his coffee.

His assistant Ethan raised a brow. "What's wrong? You look like you swallowed a lemon."

Daniel's jaw twitched as he read Aria's next message.

StarrySky ➤ Lumos:

Honestly, if a meteor fell on him tomorrow, I'd probably write a thank-you song.

Daniel pinched the bridge of his nose. He had been called many things in his career: genius, ruthless, cold-blooded. But never meteor bait.

He typed slowly, choosing his words carefully.

Lumos ➤ StarrySky:

Maybe your boss isn't as bad as you think.

Aria snorted so loud Mia shouted from the other room, "What happened?!"

"Nothing," Aria shouted back, then returned to typing.

StarrySky ➤ Lumos:

No, trust me. He's THAT bad. He hates music, sunshine, puppies, and probably babies too.

Daniel set his phone down and rubbed his temples. "Puppies? Babies?!"

Ethan peeked at the screen, then burst into laughter. "Boss, you're doomed. Even your secret account can't save your reputation now."

Daniel glared. "Shut up."

Back in her apartment, Aria sighed dramatically, hugging her pillow. "At least you understand me, Lumos. Unlike him, you actually care."

Her phone buzzed.

Lumos ➤ StarrySky:

I'll always care. Don't let him crush your spirit. Your voice is too beautiful for this world.

Aria smiled, her heart fluttering. "See? You're the best, Lumos. If only you were my boss instead of that monster…"

Meanwhile, in his office, Daniel nearly dropped his phone.

Ethan grinned. "Congratulations, Boss. You're officially competing… with yourself."
