Having completed her first hunt the little dragon was very happy. And she celebrated her first victory by snacking on her defeated opponent.
The sounds of flesh tearing and gulping echoed around whilst internally the dragon only thought one thing, 'Delicious!' Truly the meat of a fresh kill was just the best!
After eating her fill she quickly ran back to the pond to have a quick drink and then proceeded to head back to the cave entrance to finally get a look at the world outside.
And the outside was… just a bunch of trees. They were very big trees! But most things are quite big when you are a 1ft long baby dragon.
Still this didn't deminish our little dragons mood in the slightest, and that was for one quite simple reason she spotted another of the Dire Mice near one of the trees.
Letting her instinct for hunting show her what to do the little dragon tried to lay low to the ground, her gray scales actually working quite well to blend into the stone around her. Slowly getting closer to her new prey she took her time and didn't rush. When she deemed herself to be close enough she pounced managing to land on the creatures back and immideatly set to work with her claws.
Digging deep furrows on the back and sides of the mouse.
SKREEE!
The mouse let loose a screech of pain that only egged the dragon on further and she bit down with all the force she could muster at the area where its neck should be.
CRUNCH!
The dragon felt momentar resistance with her jaws before the bones gave way and the mouse instantly fell limp.

Hmm no level up this time, the dragon was slightly disappointed but then she tasted the blood that covered her maw and all worries left her as she dug into her newest meal. Deciding she should figure out which parts tasted the best she tried to tast every part. Finding that she really enjoyed the heart she promised herself that she would always start with that on any future meals.
After a her gastro taste test was concluded she merrily stalked her way onwards. Deciding to first explore the area around her cave she she managed to spot a few more Dire Mice, this time it was a pair of two.
Dropping low again she began to stalk them her movements feeling more and more assured as she practiced. Looking closely she saw that one of the mice was slightly bigger than the other so she decided to focus on that one first.
Slowly sneaking forwards she got within range before pounced once more aiming directly for its neck again. However, this time it managed to notice her leap and managed to slightly move out of the way causing her to miss the bite but with a quick twist of her own, she still managed to rake her claws along its side managing to shred its front leg. Landing in a small skid she turned around to face her opponents one of whom was now limping.
Before she could come up with a attack plan the smaller of the two burst forward and tackled the dragon using its upper two limbs to bash at the dragons back.
THUD THUD!
Pain erupted on her back as the two blows landed causing the dragon to leap back to create some distance. Ok so the small one is faster than me but cannt do much more than hurt me, but that still hurts. I need to get rid of the small one or damage it enough so that I can circle round to take on the bigger one, as I bet that one can do some real damage. With the two creatures now staggered apart a wicked gleam appeared in her eyes as she dashed back in preparing to pay back her pain tenfold!
SQUEEK!
Letting loose a battle cry the baby dragon charged towards the smaller one acting as if she was about to pounce again she lowered her self and tensed. Seeing this the small mouse lept to the side, feeling happy at this trick the dragon altered its position and dove at the location the smal mouse will land at and managed to tackle it. Using her claws again she raked multiple times on its side and used her maw to bite down on its neck.
A satisfying CRUNCH! Echoed out as its neck was crushed beneath her jaws. Letting it drop to the floor she locked gazes with the larger injured mouse and began to circle it closely, sticking to the side she damaged earlier and awaiting for an opening.
She soon found it as when turning around the mouse put too much pressure on its injured leg and let out a yell of pain and lost its ballence. That mistake proved too costly as it found its neck being bitten down on by the dragon one more CRUNCH echoing out as it too fell to the floor dead.

Woo! Now that was a great fight! She thought, although my back still hurts after that blow I revived. It was a silly mistake that should have easily been avoided she chastised herself. Shaking it off she dug in to her new snack managing to devour 2 delicious hearts for her efforts.
Her day continued on like this with an abundance of the Dire Mice in the surrounding area to her cave our little dragon had an abundance of pray to kill, she avoided any groups of 3 or more stalking through the trees and undergrowth with her new stealth skill. She could feel the way the skill worked, it would guild her ever so slightly. A gentle nudge to not step on that particular spot, an understanding of how the shadows fluttered through the canopy overhead to stay writhing the shifting shadows.
As her familiarity with remaining hidden increased her chances of a successful sneak attack increased till she was confident in quickly eliminating a single opponent. Her gains for this effort truly paid off.

She learnt that she seemed to get 3 status points per level and they were distributed depending on what aspect she used the most. So she would gain agility from being quick and quiet, strength from relying on brute strength, constitution from taking hits, intelligence from planning her attacks and utilising mana and wisdom from utilising her neutral advantages and knowing when and where to take a fight or if taking a fight was even the right thing to do.
She also unlocked a new skill.
[New skill unlocked - Pounce]
This new skill allowed her to 'charge up' her pounce attack increasing the force she could release, it utilised her mana to charge up and the longer she charged the greater the impact.
The baby dragon was stalking through the trees again looking for her next pray when she came across a group of 3 Dire Mice, whilst she normally wouldn't go for this she figured that as she was stronger now it should be possible. So taking this chance she carefully stalked them from the shadows.
Once they had stopped to much on some foliage our baby dragon crept as close as she could before charging her pounce, after a few seconds she was ready and pounced upon the closest mouse managing to instantly bite its neck.
CRUNCH!
One mouse down 2 more remaining. The two mice waisted no time and instantly charged her one on each side diving to her right she closed the distance with one taking a swipe with her claws she gouged a deep cut along its side and face sending it staggering back. The second mouse however managed to catch up and launched a series of slams on her back with its two front limbs.
SLAM, THUD, SLAM, THUD
Letting out a hiss of pain at this she whipped her tail around to slam into the attacking mouse striking it across its side and sending it sprawling back. Taking this opportunity she dove at the first one managing to bite a chunk out of its side and taking one of its legs with it. She did however revive a blow to her face as payment for this act though. Staggering back herself she looked up through slightly blurry vision and took in her two opponents.
The one she had focused on was barley standing with blood pouring out of its wounds whereas the second after reviving from the tail swipe dove back at her with no hesitation. Meeting its charge head on they exchanged blows claws shredding the mouse's side whilst the club arms of the mouse slamming into her body.
SCREEE
A scream of defiance and pain left the dragons maw as she bit down and ruthlessly tore out the throat of her prey. With the second now dealt with she fused on the nearly dead one and charged up a pounce, releasing the mana stored within she lept forward and impacted with the injured mouse. Sending it sprawling to the floor where it stopped moving.
