"Oh man.." A breeze of wind passed in front of Kuro; the source of this wind was the open window. "I mean, these books are old..and also not fully the language i know.." He was reading a book. Yet the scar on his face was covered in bandages.
"Nivor, explain this part to me." Kuro asked his inner voice for help in reading.
A mysterious yet known figure to humanity appears at a specific time, the wind bow of respect for it: entity destiny to stop the demon lord. The prophecy of the great master Toa Ogomashi. Nivor explained the part to Kuro.
"They sure give respect for this prophecy..although many missing parts. I've taken this book to know the mystery of who I really am.." Kuro yawned as he spoke this. He then turned around to the sleeping boy, "He sure slept for a long time."
I mean..he said something about being free, i've read this book to know if some human was sealed before, although nothing really was written other than the prophecy of this Toa Ogomashi. My father also said something about me being a child of prophecy...this is giving me a headache.. Kuro thought as he raised his hand, tapping on his forehead in hope for the headache to fade. I mean..something weird about this boy, his hair is red, but his pupil is gray...it's kind of representing what the library worker told me. As he was thinking his gaze turned to the sleeping boy.
-
In a quiet corner of the town's library, Kuro trailed his fingers along a dusty shelf."These books… they don't match my timeline at all," he muttered. He pulled one free, frowning at the yellowed paper. "Even the texture feels ancient."
As his eyes drifted upward, a title caught his attention: Child of Prophecy.Kuro tugged it down, flipping open the first page. "It really does talk about a prophecy…" He turned toward the woman seated nearby.
"Hey," he said, walking over. "Do you know what this book's about?"
She looked up, adjusted her glasses, and took the book from his hands."Oh, you've got sharp taste. That's one of the old legends." She skimmed a page, her brow furrowing. "Funny, I thought I threw this one out last night. No one reads it anymore."
Her voice lowered slightly, as though speaking of something dangerous."It tells of a savior who would one day defeat the Demon Lord. The chosen one. People believed it once… but the details kept changing. That's why it was abandoned."
She flipped a page, hesitating. "Strange. It didn't use to say this. Now it claims… a human who leads a dragon will stand against the darkness."
Kuro narrowed his eyes. "A dragon, huh?"
The woman's fingers froze on the next line. "And here… his presence will carry three beings. That's new. I don't remember this ever being written." Her gaze lingered on the cryptic words as if they unsettled her.
She turned more pages, only to find emptiness. "The rest is blank. That's why people stopped believing in it. Just another unfinished tale. Mystery without meaning." She closed the book with a soft thud and handed it back.
"They say the author was found dead with this very book beside him, blood staining the pages." Her tone was casual, but her eyes flicked toward Kuro with a trace of unease. "That's all anyone really knows."
Kuro studied her, then accepted the book. "…Thanks for clarifying."
"You can keep it. No one else wants it." She returned to her own reading as if the conversation had never happened.
Kuro glanced once more at the cryptic words before walking away, the weight of the prophecy heavy in his hands.
-
"Yeah.." Kuro stared at the book for some seconds, then said, "Well, i don't believe the story myself, the missing pages are the issue." He forced the book open again, to repeat his read.
The boy shot upright, eyes wide.
"IM FREEEEE!!" he screamed at the ceiling like a man possessed.
Kuro calmly flipped a page of his book.
The boy glanced around the small apartment in panic, then froze. His eyes locked onto Kuro sitting casually in the chair with a book in hand.
"W-W-WHAT DEMON ARE YOU?!" the boy stammered, pointing dramatically. "Did you bind me into another curse?! Are you the dragon's brother?!"
Kuro didn't even look up. "...I'm reading."
The boy gasped, clutching his chest like he'd been stabbed. "H-He talks! The demon reads human books too! Someone save me!"
Kuro finally lifted his gaze, unimpressed. "If you keep yelling, I'll throw you back in the cave."
The boy instantly snapped his mouth shut, nodded, and sat down cross-legged on the floor like a scolded puppy. Then after a pause, he whispered, "…Can I at least get breakfast before you sacrifice me again?"
"Story first. Then breakfast. That's the deal." Kuro stated as he changed the chair's direction to face the boy, then sat back on it.
The boy then hovered over the bed edge, "Is that.." He kept observing Kuro from beneath till the top. Here comes another prophecy shit.. Kuro thought as he sighed. "The old man told me the one who will unseal me is a demon.." His eyes widened toward Kuro.
"Huh?" The confused Kuro.
"How though..i feel an unnatural thing inside of your soul." The boy proceeded, "There are..4 PEOPLE!???"
"Oh well..didn't expect that, it's a long story. Anyway, enough with this shit, tell me your story." Kuro leaned back on the chair, waiting for the boy to tell his story.
"Oh i forgot to introduce myself." He stood up then bowed, "My name is Yoshiru Uti."
"WHY IS THIS SUDDEN FORMALITY!?" Kuro shouted in confusion at this boy's actions. Yoshiru sat back, "Well.."
"I've always been the hated boy in my village..the other boys said i'm the sacrifice of the Oyo. I didn't understand them until i turned 16.. a day that will never be forgotten.." He closed his eyes.
-
A village surrounded by fire, the heat pressure struck all around. As the people were freaking out, some running, some kids were left out in the midst of this destruction. The voices of crying were heard from every corner of this village.
"Mom..." A crying boy who was in the ruins of a house, his tears fell on his mother's dead body. His gaze changed direction as he stared at a guy standing in front of him. "The dead can't return.. She tried to cause the disaster by hiding you. Now you shall come with me to end this chaos." The man stepped in front, raising his arm toward the boy. "If i do..will it all end?" The boy's innocent eye observed the man's palm. The man smiled and said, "No more people will die.."
The boy held the man's arm and stood up. They walked toward the village's middle area, each step they made was heavy for the boy as he said,
"Old man.."
"..." His reply was all muttering about something, "Old man..will i be able to return..?"
The man stopped walking, as if he felt something heavier down his chest. He turned to the boy as tears fell down his face, and then he said, "Don't worry, my little boy.." He patted the boy's head and then proceeded, "A demon..will free you someday..and we will be able to see you again."
The boy smiled, knowing the old man lied to him.
Eventually, they both reached the midst of the ruined village where the dragon stayed.
"You truly brought my meal!?" The dragon lowered his gaze to the man.
"Not that fast!" He stepped forward to the dragon, "Do i feel a challenge..?" The dragon laughed in high volume, sending all the fallen wood around him afar.
"Do you think you can scratch me with that little sword you're holding!?" The old man unsheathed his katana, "Not at all..". The dragon spoke afterward and said, "I have a challenge for you. Go ahead and try to pierce that blade through me. I won't even move an inch!" He then laughed again.
"You mutt.." The old man muttered as he ran toward the dragon. Upon his arrival, he pressed the boy against the dragon's leg. "What is this stupid greezer doing..?" The dragon said, As a scroll appeared on his arm, he wrapped it around the dragon's leg and the boy, tying them together.
"!" The dragon finally understood what the old man was doing, as he tried to move, the old man spelled fast, "Fūinryū Metsuzai, ETERNAL SEAL!" A light shone, growing bigger almost as if the dragon had disappeared along with the boy.
Before the boy's disappearance, he raised his head, taking his last look at the ruined village. "Goodbye.."
The light disappeared from existence, leaving the old man on his knees. "The prophecy was right.."
-
"That's what happened.." Yoshiru was staring at the ceiling, "One day i heard my mom saying something about the Oyo dragon was a prophecy of someone called.." Kuro bent in intense to hear the man's name.
"I forgot." Yoshiru lowered his gaze at Kuro and raised his finger. "Stupid brat.." Kuro returned his back to the chair, then turned his head left. "Was his name Toa Ogomashi?" He asked.
"Wait.." Yoshiru took a thought, "Actually, that was his name." He said as Kuro shouted, "SO YOU REMEMBER HIM!" He bent in anger.
"I DO, BUT I FIGURED YOU'RE NOT GONNA BELIEVE ME!" Yoshiru replied to the anger with anger. "Tsk.." Kuro pressed his back against the chair as his temper cooled.
This name repeated many times..that guy has to be someone who planned all of this, or he is just someone who makes prophecies and hopes it'll become reality. Kuro's thinking was cut by Yoshiru saying, "Can i get my breakfast?"
Kuro sighed, "Don't worry about food, we got a lot to figure out first.." He then stood up, "First step is to leave this filthy town to solve our mysteries."
"Also, i forgot to introduce myself." He stepped toward his katana as he spoke, "I'm Kuro Sato." He grabbed the sheathed katana, pinning it to his right.
Yoshiru's eyes glared stars, "SO COOL!" Kuro grabbed the door handle as he sighed, "Let's get going." After he opened the door.
Chapter End.
