Chapter 308: The Awakening (Selena)
If Maria's awakening was a screaming blizzard that sought to tear the Guest Spire from its foundations, Selena's was a haunting, absolute vacuum.
There was no frost on the walls, no shattered timber, and no roar of mana.
There was only a silence so dense it felt as though the very concept of sound had been surgically removed from the room.
Leon stood at the threshold of the second infirmary chamber, his hand trembling as it hovered over the handle. His chest ached—not from the lingering bruises of the Iron Wilderness, but from a desperate, pounding hope. For three days, he had lived in a waking nightmare, haunted by the image of Selena's pale, dying face under the roots of the World Tree. He had prayed to every god he knew for a single chance to see her eyes open again.
He pushed the door open.
