Chapter 68 - Is Mo Wang Still Human? A Philosophical Question

Anis wasn't the only one who thought this way.

At the very least, the fleeing Raptures around them probably felt the same way.

Rapture #1: Holy crap?! What the hell is that thing behind me? Why does it look like I can see my big brother's face on it?

Rapture #2: Damn it! That human is a demon! Not only does he want to kill us, he even wants to sew my corpse onto that monster!

Rapture #3: Quack! I don't want to, I don't want to become pieces!

Rapture #4: Teammates? Where are my teammates?! How did they all disappear so suddenly?

Rapture #5: Our teammates have all become the enemy's corpse parts! Let's get out of here!

Although the minds of Raptures were generally at the level of a low-end AI, with many of them having only beast-like thoughts, it was undeniable that Raptures also had instincts.

In the absence of a direct command from a high-ranking Rapture, low-level Raptures would instinctively flee from objects they considered dangerous.

For example, this huge pile of junk behind them, which to humans looked like a giant, stitched-together Tomie, was causing a massive SAN-draining effect.

"Anis! Prepare to defend!" Rapi quickly reminded Anis, who was frozen in place.

However, it was clear that neither the surrounding Raptures nor the giant stitched-together robot had chosen to attack the two of them.

"Marian, stop! I think we've arrived!"

As Mo Wang's voice came from inside the machine, this garbage-pile-like contraption finally came to a screeching halt.

"Finally... can we finally stop?"

Just then, Marian, her face pale, stumbled out of the robot.

From the vacant look in her eyes, it was clear that her soul had already left her body for a while.

"This won't do, Marian. You need more practice. We've only just gotten started. How can you call yourself an elite Nikke like this?" Mo Wang scolded Marian, seeing her pale face.

"Commander, although I'm happy that you called me an elite, I'm just an ordinary mass-produced Nikke. The real elites should be the Triangle Squad, the Matis Squad, or the Special Forces, right?"

"Oh? Not bad, you're retorting now? It seems you've made great progress." Mo Wang nodded proudly. "As expected of a Nikke taught by me, you learn fast. It seems you've understood that people without the ability to retort are useless."

"I really don't see the connection between the ability to retort and being useless," Marian said, looking at Mo Wang helplessly. She now clearly understood just how much of a headache it was to be with this commander.

"But I still have to remind you, Marian. A mass-produced Nikke who doesn't want to become a Pilgrim is not a good Heretic. You have to have dreams, young lady."

"I don't understand at all."

"A human and... a Nikke? What kind of strange development is this?" As she watched Marian and Mo Wang perform their stand-up routine, Anis, the Ark's number one stand-up comedian, couldn't help but interject.

"Ah? I'm sorry! I'm Marian! The Commander and I have safely arrived at the rendezvous point!" Seeing someone looking their way, Marian quickly composed herself and said to the two Nikkes.

"Oh?" Mo Wang also looked at Rapi and Anis.

He recognized them at a glance. Weren't these Nikke's true female protagonist, Rapi, and his good buddy, Anis?

"Commander? For real? You guys weren't blown up?" Anis looked at the two in surprise.

"A Nikke is one thing, but a commander is a human, right?" Anis said, sizing up Mo Wang. "You are human, right?"

"What's that supposed to mean? Why wouldn't I be human?" Mo Wang looked at Anis with a defiant expression.

What? Are you going to revoke my human status today too?

Although his body was impenetrable to bullets and invulnerable to missiles.

A bowl-sized wound might heal the next day.

And he could even shoot light beams and stuff.

But...

Uh...

Could he really still be considered human?

He could, right?

Mo Wang glanced at his chat list.

It seemed that there weren't many versions of himself in there who could be considered human.

But!

He was still human, right?

Even before he had his cheats, he could carry a one-ton weapon without breaking a sweat. He was shot the day before yesterday, and he was fine the next day...

Crap, am I really not human?

While Mo Wang was pondering the philosophical question of whether he was still human, Anis continued, "Whatever. So you're the new commander, right? You're finally here. What's the situation now?"

"The current situation is unknown. Please explain the current situation, Commander."

Both Anis and Rapi were confused about the current situation.

Hadn't the commander's plane just crashed? Why was he not only fine now?

But he had also created a terrifying-looking mecha?

"Well, about that... how should I explain it?"

"To put it simply, I was just hit by a damn cannon from a Rapture that came out of nowhere."

"And so, I fell from up there. And I happened to run into Marian."

"Then, after dealing with the surrounding Raptures, I thought it would be a waste to leave these parts lying around, so I just built this thing from scratch."

Anis: (°ー°〃)

Rapi: ( ̄□ ̄)

Anis: You said 'from scratch'? What did you use to build it? I thought you've only been here for an hour since you fell. How did you build something like this? How many details did you leave out?

Rapi: Although I don't quite understand, it sounds like this commander is quite amazing.

"In any case, at least the new commander has arrived. The commander identification code has been confirmed. Thank you both for your help. Because we didn't have a commander before, Anis and I couldn't properly receive combat orders. This is a great help." Rapi looked at Mo Wang and spoke to Marian and him in the manner of a true soldier. "From now on, full command authority is handed over to the commander. What are your next orders?"

"Wait a minute, Rapi! How can you just hand over command authority like that? What if he's not a good person?"

Although Anis didn't say it out loud, she now seriously suspected that there was something wrong with Mo Wang's head.

After all, how could a human build a giant robot that could crush Raptures from scratch in such a short amount of time?

She seriously suspected that this commander was a monster in human skin.

And Marian, on the side, looked at Anis and couldn't help but comment: You're a really good judge of character.
