Now we're in the car. Mom turned on her favorite music again—the kind that sounds like cats howling at night. My little ears go *blup blup* inside, like they've got water bubbles in them. I told her to stop, but she yelled, *"THIS IS ART, FELIX!"* and turned the volume up even louder. So I hid in the back, under my dinosaur blanket. Classic her: she thinks she's a singer, but she sounds like a sad little puppy. Whatever, if I go deaf, I'll invent my own language, and no one can scold me for swearing.
The only cool part is staring out the window. The highway is like a gray ribbon the car keeps eating.
I was watching the scenery when… *I saw it!* A white bunny hopping through the bushes… but wait—*it had WINGS!* Not bird wings, more like the ones on bats from Dad's documentaries, but *fluffy!* Its eyes sparkled like strawberry gummies.
Then I realized—the rabbit was *flying*… *straight toward me!*
It looked like it was gonna smash into the window, but nope, it passed right through.
—Mom, MOM!— I screamed, covering my ears to make my voice louder.
—What, Felix?—she asked, turning the music down just a tiny bit.
*"Look at that bunny with wings!"* I pointed at the window, practically jumping out of my seat.
Mom glanced for a second and, seeing nothing, gave me her *"here we go again"* face.
—"Oh, Felix, I told you not to eat so much chocolate,"— she sighed as the car sped up again.
I stayed quiet, but inside, I was boiling. Was it a vampire bunny? Or have bunnies *always* had wings and adults just never notice? They're so clueless… Every time I see something weird, they say "there's nothing there"or that I'm "hallucinating." But I *SAW* it. Maybe, since they don't know what it is, they just change the subject to save face.
Then suddenly—*CRACK!*
The car shook like a giant had kicked it. My teddy bear went flying, and my head slammed into the front seat. Everything went blurry, like when I eat too many cookies and get dizzy.
—OH MY GOD!— I heard Mom scream.
All I felt was the world spinning… and then, everything went black.
