Now that was an interesting skill set.
Mai was his second contracted subordinate, and Rosen was starting to see a pattern—their awakened skills seemed to tie into their personal traits.
But still… "Bunny Girl" as a skill? Really? What was he supposed to do with that—send her to seduce undead monsters?
Even if that were possible, there was no way he'd make her do something like that.
When Rosen showed her the status screen, Mai's cheeks went scarlet.
So what was the point of that skill, anyway? Was she supposed to put on that outfit just to seduce him?She wasn't some heroine in a period drama harem, thank you very much.
"This skill…" Miko's voice broke through her thoughts.
"Nothing worth seeing," Mai muttered, quickly covering the display.
Why had she even awakened something like that? Was Rosen actually… an improper master?
"I'm not talking about that one! I mean 'Existence Erasure'—that's amazing! Doesn't that mean nothing could hurt you?" Miko's eyes lit up.
"But it also means I couldn't touch anything. So… no attacking either."
So far, Mai couldn't see much use for it except running away.Which… actually was kind of rabbit-like.
"Don't be so narrow-minded," Rosen said. "Even without direct offense, the ability to erase your existence on command is already god-tier. Used properly, it's entirely possible to make it so your opponent can't touch you—but you can still hit them."
"Plus, it makes moving around unnoticed a whole lot easier. No one would even know you were there."
"The only drawback is, if you keep it on too long… you yourself might disappear."
"But you can turn it on and off whenever you want."
The bunny-girl outfit might be a little ridiculous, but the power to "vanish from existence" was nothing short of a god-tier ability.
Think about it—like a League of Legends champ with infinite cooldown-free Flash, or Fizz spamming his E forever.
"Seriously?"
Mai Sakurajima felt like Rosen was pulling her leg… but she had no proof. She still hadn't fully shifted her thinking into the realm of the supernatural.
"You're my familiar now. Lying to you doesn't benefit me." Rosen shrugged.
"But how you use it is up to you—just remember, don't keep it active for too long."
"That's such a nice ability…"Miko Yotsuya's eyes shone with envy.
Rosen patted her head, smiling. "Don't sell yourself short. Your spirit sight can see a few seconds into the future. That's god-tier too."
Come to think of it, spirit sight was supposed to be a miko-exclusive skill.Did Miko Yotsuya have the talent of a shrine maiden?Remembering how she'd acted in the original story, Rosen just smiled.
"Time's about up. You two should head back."
"Oh, about my… problem…" Mai hesitated.
"Not completely fixed yet," Rosen admitted. "But now that you're my familiar, I'll never forget you. No matter how bad things get, you won't disappear."
"…I see. Thanks."
Her nose stung unexpectedly. That feeling of being genuinely cared for… it was nice.
"You're my familiar now—you don't need to thank me."
He shook his head and ruffled her hair. "If you really feel bad, just work hard."
And with that, the three of them left the rooftop together.
It was still lunch break; the hallways were noisy with students fooling around. But the moment they saw the three walking side-by-side, the chatter died instantly.
A low wave of whispers started up.
"That girl… that's Mai Sakurajima, right?"
"Looks like her. She was a big star a few years ago. Then she suddenly retired… no idea why."
"Look at that guy next to her. They seem pretty close. Maybe she quit because their relationship got exposed?"
"Could be. I heard it was because she refused some… shady industry 'rules.'""And there's another cute girl with him? Is this guy two-timing?"
The gossip made both Mai and Miko fall silent.
Rosen didn't bother humoring them. He swept his gaze across the crowd, expression cold.Every single person he locked eyes with quickly looked away.
One blonde kid actually pulled out his phone, clearly ready to post something online. When Rosen's eyes landed on him, the kid puffed up. "W-What? What are you looking at?!"
Rosen didn't answer—he just grabbed the phone and crushed it in his hand like it was made of paper.
The hallway got even quieter.
"..."
