Chapter 60 - Chapter 60 – Slaying a Midgod Expert

Sadius charged straight toward the Midgod.

"So, you plan to wear me down with a battle of attrition? A group of weaklings at the level of lesser Gods? Even if more of you come, it's useless."

Death-elemental divine power surged around the Midgod.

A death-rules God-tier expert?

Sadius hadn't expected that within the Graveyard of the Gods, there would actually be a God who cultivated the Edicts of Death.

The Edicts of Death excelled in soul attacks, but that didn't mean other aspects were weak.

The Midgod of death swung his staff toward Sadius. Sadius responded by slashing his sword.

With the support of his dual-series divine power, even though he was still a lesser God, he wasn't at any disadvantage at all.

"Impressive… but you still won't escape death."

As the God attacked, a billowing black mist appeared, and from within it emerged a massive skeletal claw. The bone claw swept toward Sadius, forcing him to hastily slash out with his sword.

But the claw was enormous and incomparably tough—Sadius' strike could only pierce the outer layer of bone.

"This is the remains of some Divine Beast after death. In life, it likely reached the realm of a Highgod."

Death-rules experts had the most bizarre means. They could even control the bones of deceased Highgods.

Some Divine Beasts retained terrifying strength even in death; their bones were often refined by death cultivators into deadly weapons.

Sadius dodged the massive bone claw, continuously seeking an opening to strike the caster himself.

His opponent wasn't anxious. So long as the other three lesser Gods were killed by his death puppets, they could then easily surround and kill Sadius.

Sadius naturally knew he couldn't delay any longer.

"If that's the case, then I'll have to go all out."

In an instant, Sadius activated his innate divine ability—Azure Dragon Transformation.

His true body transformed into a colossal azure dragon, two thousand meters long.

From within that draconic body flew out his two Godly clones. Each God clone held a divine sword.

His Destruction clone wielded the Violet Blood Divine Sword, while his Earth clone held an ordinary lesser-God weapon.

As a soul-mutated being, each of his God clones could use fused divine power.

Immediately, the true-body azure dragon unleashed its draconic divine ability—Dragon's Roar.

The Midgod in front of him froze for an instant—yet then astonishingly broke free of the binding.

Dragon's Roar failed? No, it hadn't failed; it was just that this Midgod's soul defense was strong. Sadius' roar only caused a time-delay effect but didn't inflict additional soul damage.

So, when the time-delay ended, the Midgod instantly escaped the stun.

Sadius' two God clones didn't hesitate. At once, they swung their swords, unleashing their ultimate technique.

"Earth-Annihilation Slash!"

The two clones simultaneously executed the move, both slashing down.

Because they were different clones, the two strikes carried distinct resonances—two utterly different destructive sensations. The death cultivator hurriedly manipulated the skeletal claw to shield himself.

But as the two swords fell, the bone claw cracked apart.

"Damn it! How can a lesser God be this terrifying? I need the death puppets to finish those three quickly and come help me!"

The Midgod was distracted, also controlling ten death puppets. Four death puppets encircled Dylin. The remaining six besieged O'Brien and Catherine.

"Damn!" O'Brien, seeing the situation worsening, no longer hesitated. He immediately tried to flee.

He had only become a God by refining a Divine Spark. After so many years, he had merely strengthened his soul slightly, with no true comprehension of any laws.

Against a single death puppet, he could manage. But three simultaneously? He couldn't hold out. Internally, he cursed Sadius, then began retreating at once.

Catherine, however, didn't flee like O'Brien, though she wasn't faring well either. Facing three death puppets simultaneously, she was completely at a disadvantage.

Only Dylin, after transforming into his true body—the Suanni Beast—remained utterly fearless even when surrounded by four death puppets.

Sadius, on his side, sped up the pace. I must kill this Midgod quickly; otherwise, the situation will change for the worse.

One after another, Earth-Annihilation Slashes erupted forth. The Midgod found himself unable to withstand the pressure.

"Hmph! You've forced me to use my final trump card. Today, you die without question!"

A phantom skull appeared, streaking toward Sadius.

Sadius slashed at it with his sword—but it passed straight through.

"A soul attack!"

At once, Sadius canceled his Azure Dragon Transformation, letting his two clones merge back into his body.

Against the Midgod's killing move, the clones couldn't endure a direct soul strike. He recalled the clones and relied on the Coiling Dragon Ring and his tri-mutated soul for defense.

The skull shot straight into Sadius' sea of consciousness, lunging toward his azure dragon soul.

Sadius immediately channeled divine power into the Coiling Dragon Ring.

A thin membrane enveloped his soul, eroding most of the invading soul attack. Some faint traces of soul energy still slipped through the gaps.

But that didn't matter. His azure dragon soul casually let out a roar, scattering the lingering soul energy.

In the real world, Sadius' body trembled slightly—then he unleashed a draconic roar.

The Midgod once again froze in place.

Seeing the chance, Sadius instantly swung his sword and struck.

Meanwhile, O'Brien was being pushed to the brink by the three death puppets. He had nearly reached the passage leading to the twelfth layer.

"Damn you, Sadius. I never should've agreed to come to the thirteenth layer!"

Seizing the chance, O'Brien darted into the passage.

Because of their master's commands, the three death puppets couldn't enter the passage, so they didn't pursue.

The very next moment, Sadius' sword cleaved through the Midgod's flesh, annihilating his body.

Sadius caught the God's Divine Spark and spatial ring.

With their master dead, the ten death puppets instantly went still, then collapsed to the ground.

Doehring and Catherine, who had been struggling, suddenly found the death puppets before them unmoving, falling downward.

The two finally realized what had happened and turned to look at Sadius.

The Midgod was already gone, and Sadius was flying toward them.

"Where's O'Brien?"

"He must have been unable to hold out and chose to flee."

Sadius didn't know what to say. After all, he had only asked O'Brien and Catherine to deal with a single lesser God. It was reasonable for that man to escape.

"Just now, what you fought weren't lesser Gods—they were humanoid weapons called death puppets. These should be the weakest kind, only at the level of lesser Gods."

Dylin and Catherine finally understood.

"So, they didn't have Divine Sparks within them?"

"Indeed. But in that God's spatial ring, there are."

Sadius had already blood-bound the spatial ring. After inspecting it, he discovered it held plenty of treasures.

One Midgod spark of the Life element, six lesser God sparks, and several divine artifacts.

There were even soul-gold beads!
