On the main street, a man in a black suit staggered down the road, clearly drunk, clutching a briefcase. He mumbled to himself as he walked:
"Mr. David, I really can't drink anymore…"
"Thank you, Mr. David…"
"The contract's finally signed, now I've got money for my daughter's tuition."
On top of a four-story building nearby, Maguire, Garfield, and Holland watched the man.
"This guy definitely isn't from Hell's Kitchen," Maguire said. "No one local would be walking alone this late. Either he's completely drunk or he came here from another district for business."
Garfield and Holland both nodded.
"And people like him? In Hell's Kitchen, he's a hundred percent going to get mugged."
As soon as Maguire said that, two large men suddenly rushed out of an alley and grabbed the drunk. Before he could react, one of them clamped a hand over his mouth while the two dragged him into the dark alley.
Seeing this, Holland and Garfield immediately prepared to leap down, but Maguire stopped them.
"You don't need to catch them. Just give them a beating, then try talking sense into them. See if they'll turn themselves in."
The two nodded and charged ahead. Against Garfield and Holland, two ordinary thugs didn't stand a chance. Within moments they were beaten bloody, trembling with fear.
Following Maguire's instructions, Garfield and Holland gave the men a lecture. The two thugs swore up and down that they'd go to the police and confess. Satisfied, Garfield and Holland let them go.
The drunk man thanked them profusely and hailed a cab.
…
When they returned, Maguire said flatly,
"Follow them. Let's see where they really go."
…
In the alleys, the bruised thugs muttered curses.
"Unbelievable—ran into those two Spider-Men."
"Idiots. They even gave us a lecture? What are their brains filled with, crap?"
Hearing this, Garfield and Holland seethed with anger and prepared to jump in again, but Maguire stopped them.
"Wait."
Reluctantly, they followed the thugs deeper into the alleys.
The two thugs wandered aimlessly, but one thing was clear—they weren't heading anywhere near a police station.
At that moment, a girl in pajamas burst from her house, sprinting into a side alley. From the looks of it, she'd fought with her family and decided to run away.
Moments later, her parents rushed out of the house, chasing after her.
Unfortunately, the thugs were in the same alley. The girl stopped short, seeing the two hulking men ahead. Whatever anger she had vanished, replaced with fear as she turned to run back toward her parents.
Watching from above, Garfield and Holland looked on tensely, as if testing whether their "lesson" had worked.
The thugs' eyes lit up when they saw the pretty girl. Their faces twisted with lust as they ran after her.
Just then, the girl's parents arrived. She fled to her mother's side, but the thugs closed in. They knocked the father to the ground and leered at the terrified mother and daughter.
"Two of them? Perfect," one thug laughed.
"We'll take turns, hahaha!"
From above, Maguire turned to Garfield and Holland.
"You two decide what to do. I'm going back to sleep."
He vaulted away without looking back.
Garfield and Holland exchanged a look, their eyes burning with rage, then hurled themselves down into the alley.
Maguire was already gone. What Garfield and Holland would choose to do—he didn't care. The fate of that girl didn't concern him either.
People pay for their recklessness. Even if someone saves them once, sooner or later they'll face the consequences.
After all, Maguire wasn't some superhero.
He was just the Bully. Nothing more.
This kind of thing? Sorry—none of his damn business.
