Right then, outside Gwen's house, a Bentley was parked at the door.

Before long, Maguire reached Gwen's doorstep and rang the bell.
A moment later, the door opened.
It was Gwen's mother, Helen, who answered.
Seeing Maguire standing there left Helen momentarily stunned. But her good manners quickly covered her surprise, and she greeted him with a polite smile.
"Oh, it's Maguire. What is it? You came to see Gwen?"
Maguire nodded with a smile.
"Hello, Auntie. Is Gwen home?"
Just then, a gentle voice floated out from inside.
"Mom, is someone here to see me?"
It was Gwen's voice.
Helen turned back and called out,
"It's Maguire. He's here to see you!"
Inside, Gwen's eyes widened in shock at her mother's words.
"What? Maguire actually came to see me?"
It had been three days since Dr. Connors, the Lizard, had attacked the school. In all that time, Gwen hadn't seen Maguire again.
But she found herself thinking of him more and more often over the past few days.
Especially the words he had spoken to her that day—they still left her puzzled.
Had Maguire really been confessing to her?
Now, hearing that he had come for her, Gwen's heart began racing uncontrollably.
She took a deep breath, steadying herself, ready to meet him.
By then, Maguire had already stepped into the house at Helen's invitation. His eyes instantly found Gwen nearby.
She looked as radiant as ever.
Maguire smiled.
"So, what have you been busy with these days?"
Gwen quickly answered,
"I've been home studying. What about you?"
Helen, seeing the two of them talking, tactfully excused herself and went to her own room.
Clearly, George Stacy wasn't home. As police chief in a city as rough as this one, he was always busy.

Once Helen had left, Maguire looked at Gwen and spoke.
"My beautiful Miss Gwen, would I have the honor of taking you out for dinner?"
Hearing that, Gwen's heartbeat sped up again.
Of course, Maguire could hear her heart pounding and knew she was hesitating.
This was the time to press forward. Sometimes boldness worked better than being a gentleman.
Maguire simply declared,
"Since you didn't answer, I'll take it as a yes. Let's go. I'll wait for you outside."
And with that, he turned and walked out.
Gwen watched his back as he left, conflicted. His sudden move had thrown her off balance, and her mind was a storm.
"Maguire's inviting me to dinner… was he really confessing to me that day? But I'm not ready for a relationship yet. Am I overthinking it? Maybe he's just grateful I cared about him that day, and this is his way of thanking me? But he's already waiting outside. If I don't go, won't it be really awkward for him?"
"Forget it—it's just dinner! It's not like I agreed to be his girlfriend."
With that thought, Gwen hurried to change clothes and stepped outside.

The moment she walked out the door, she saw Maguire waiting by a car.
A Bentley.
Gwen's heart filled with doubt.
"That's Maguire's car? No way. Everyone at school knows he comes from a poor family. Did he borrow it just for this date?"
The thought irritated her, but still she walked over.
When Maguire saw Gwen coming out of the house, he smiled faintly.
To him, Gwen was different from Natasha. Natasha was just a "friend."
But Gwen—he genuinely felt this kindhearted girl was something special.

Gwen stopped in front of him, her face expressionless.
"Maguire, why are you inviting me to dinner?"
Maguire smirked.
"Think of it as celebrating the school being shut down."
That made Gwen laugh despite herself.
"Maguire, is that really something worth celebrating? Can't you be serious for once?"
Maguire straightened his face.
"To be honest, I just think the life you're living might not be the one you truly want. I believe you should experience the world's colors—feel them, understand them, and choose the life you want for yourself."
