Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Another Spider-Man: Garfield

On the way to class, Maguire and Harry chatted casually.

He decided Harry was a decent guy—definitely not someone he'd use his bully tactics on.

After all, if you're a bully to *everyone*, that just makes you a lunatic.

A dull morning of classes passed in a blur.

Maguire didn't listen to a single word.

Come on—what kind of bully studies science?

And especially a bully with a cheat system.

Soon it was lunchtime.

Maguire headed into the cafeteria, scanning the bustling crowd of young men and women.

That's when his eyes caught a familiar figure—

Mary Jane, walking with a tray in hand, almost like she was strutting down a runway.

Just ahead of her, a patch of spilled butter glistened on the floor.

Whether she genuinely hadn't noticed it or was looking for an excuse to get close to him, Maguire couldn't tell.

But she stepped right on it.

Her balance gave way instantly.

Maguire watched the scene unfold and rolled his eyes.

*Really? The old "slip and fall" routine?*

*Fall if you want—what's it got to do with me?*

Just then, the system's voice echoed in his mind:

> \[Congratulations, host. Bully action against a story character completed.

> Bully Points +20.

> Keep it up, and you will become the ultimate bully feared across countless universes.]

Maguire blinked.

*Wait… not helping counts as a bully action too? Nice.*

Mary Jane was about to hit the floor, her tray's contents already flying through the air—

When a blur of motion appeared beside her.

An arm wrapped around her waist, steadying her, while the other hand caught the tray midair.

The rescuer even managed to snatch the airborne food before it fell.

The scene hit Maguire with déjà vu.

*Who the hell moves that fast?*

He looked up—

And froze.

*Garfield?! No way—another Spider-Man?*

*Don't tell me Holland's in this school too.*

Yes, that unmistakable face confirmed it—this was Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man.

Garfield gave Mary Jane a warm smile.

"You okay?"

Mary Jane's heart fluttered at the handsome face so close to hers.

"I'm fine. Thanks… your reflexes are amazing."

Garfield offered a modest smile, then released her.

Across the room, Flash Thompson saw the whole thing.

His girlfriend… rescued by someone else.

And not just anyone—by that broke kid, Garfield Parker.

His blood boiled.

He set down his burger and stormed toward Garfield.

Maguire smirked from the sidelines.

*Looks like this meathead's about to mess with Garfield. Time for a show.*

Flash stopped right in front of Garfield, towering over him.

Garfield's face showed mild confusion.

Mary Jane quickly interjected, "Flash, he just saved me—what are you doing?"

Flash hesitated—couldn't go too far in front of her—so he just growled,

"Stay away from Mary Jane. She's my girlfriend."

He shot Garfield a death glare before turning away.

Garfield stood there, bewildered.

*I saved her, and this is the thanks I get?*

Still, he kept quiet—after all, he'd been keeping his head down for a while now.

Maguire groaned internally.

*Come on, Garfield… that's way too soft. You're making the spider that bit you embarrassed.*

From Garfield's reflexes earlier, it was obvious to Maguire that he'd already been bitten and had powers.

Mary Jane, watching Garfield's passivity, rolled her eyes.

*Looks strong, but turns out he's just a pushover. What an idiot.*

Flash grabbed Mary Jane's hand to leave—

But then he spotted Maguire nearby.

He suddenly remembered what Mary Jane had told him that morning while riding in his car:

> "My neighbor, Peter Parker—I think he's always sneaking glances at me. It's so annoying.

> I think he might like me."

Flash had already been planning to teach Maguire a lesson.

And now… fate had dropped him right here.

He strode over to Maguire.

"Hey, punk—get up."

Maguire looked up at him, a mysterious smile spreading across his face.
