"Let me do it." Kael'thas took the book from Brann's hand and flipped through it for a moment. "This looks like a diary."
"A diary?"
Brann's face fell instantly—he had thought it was some precious magic tome, but a diary's value was far inferior to ancient magic.
But a diary was better than nothing at all.
Arthas also leaned over and glanced at it, saying something that lifted Brann's spirits considerably: "This shouldn't be an ordinary diary. Its original owner should have been a mage who knew magic—there are very clear magical traces on the diary."
Kael'thas looked at Arthas with some surprise. He hadn't expected Arthas to not only understand ancient elven language but also to detect magical traces on it.
The High Elf Prince nodded slightly. "Arthas is right. The owner of this diary is a mage… and, this fellow's magical attainments should not be low."
The two princes did not say much, but continued to read through the notes. However, as they read, their speed of flipping pages grew faster and faster, and the expressions on their faces became increasingly fascinating.
Brann, standing nearby, was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan—he planned to intensify his study of ancient elven language once he returned. He absolutely could not tolerate being kept in suspense like this.
Jaina, waiting nearby, was also slightly curious. She reached out and patted Arthas's shoulder, "Hey, what's in these notes that has both of you so captivated?"
Arthas pondered for a moment. "I wonder if you've heard of the Bronze Dragon."
"Bronze Dragon? A member of the Dragon Legion?" Brann jumped over immediately. "But isn't this an elf's diary? How is it related to dragons?"
"I've also heard of the Bronze Dragon, but unlike the Red Dragon, Blue Dragon, and Black Dragon, which often have sighting reports, they almost never appear in the sight of mortals." Jaina recalled the knowledge she had learned in Dalaran. "Another type of mysterious Dragon Legion is the Green Dragon."
"The Dragon Legion is blessed by the power of the Titan. They are born with various magical powers, and the power possessed by the Bronze Dragon is the most mysterious and terrifying power of time."
Arthas looked at the magical diary in Kael'thas's hand. "The owner of these notes was once a member of the Eldre'Thalas Mage Council. For some reason, he violated the mages' taboos. Before he was captured, he hid one of his diaries on a statue next to his laboratory attic."
Upon hearing this, everyone looked up at a room above the collapsed statue, which was completely filled with rubble and debris. That should have been the location of the diary owner's laboratory.
"Damn it, doesn't that mean we won't find anything?" Brann rolled his eyes. A mage's laboratory was full of flammable and explosive things. With such a burial, at most, a few pieces of instrument fragments could be found.
"Don't rush. The owner of this diary was researching something very dangerous, which was also why he was arrested." Kael'thas had just recovered from his shock, his expression a bit strange. "He found a way to get a Bronze Dragon and used it for live experiments, hoping to discover the secret of the Bronze Dragon's control over time."
However, although the Kaldorei Empire was powerful at that time, it was unwilling to anger the Dragon Legion. The two sides had reached a peace agreement, minding their own business.
Therefore, this High Elf mage's actions completely broke the agreement between the Dragon Legion and the Kaldorei Empire. The mad High Elf mage was eventually arrested by the Eldre'Thalas enforcement team to appease the Dragon Legion.
Arthas was certain this was a secret he had never known, which also made him slightly more vigilant. There was a lot of information in the real world that he had never heard of, and if he acted entirely according to what he imagined, problems were very likely to arise.
Last time, Mal'Ganis ambushed the army's station. This time, it was a mad High Elf mage. There were undoubtedly many "new things" in this world that Arthas had never heard of.
"His true research results were not stored in the laboratory, but hidden somewhere in Eldre'Thalas. He did not want his painstakingly researched work to be destroyed," Kael'thas said, revealing what he had read in the diary.
"Then what about that thing? What exactly is it? Did he mention where it was placed?—Please, tell me quickly, old Brann can't take this!"
Brann frantically tugged at his carefully groomed beard. He was truly going crazy from being kept in suspense. Were these two Thoradin's Wall? Such a huge cliffhanger!
"Hey, hey, calm down, Brann. Even if we want to find the relics left by this mysterious mage, we have to consider the current situation first," Arthas tried to soothe the treasure-hungry Brann. "Kael'thas, is there any other useful information?"
Kael'thas smiled and replied, "We are very lucky. This fellow recorded a secret passage in his diary that can directly lead us from the north of Eldre'Thalas to the Grand Library we are looking for."
Arthas did know of the existence of this secret passage, but facing an elven city countless times more magnificent and vast than in his memory, he had no leisure to search for a so-called secret passage. It would be better to enter the library through the main entrance.
However, the hall where Immol'thar was sealed was surrounded by layers of Arcane energy, making it impossible for them to enter. And now, they had just found this diary, which could provide them with accurate location information.
"Wait, besides this secret passage, did he not say where his research results were?" Brann was still thinking about the real good stuff.
Kael'thas shook his head. "No, he only vaguely mentioned that his research results were hidden somewhere in Eldre'Thalas, but he didn't mention the specific location."
"Let's discuss this matter after we find the Highborne who are living in seclusion in Eldre'Thalas," Arthas said, slinging his warhammer onto his back and walking towards the other end of the passage.
Jaina heard Arthas's words, thought for a moment, and asked, "Arthas, what if those High Elves don't want to see us? This Arcane energy greenhouse might be a trap they used to stop us."
"If they didn't want to see us, their methods wouldn't be so gentle. The Kaldorei who dominated ancient times didn't rely on gentle means to play ridiculous political games; they conquered the entire ancient Kalimdor with violence and power."
Kael'thas heard this evaluation and smiled wryly as he looked at the magical diary in his hand. "You're right, otherwise this fellow wouldn't have been so audacious as to hunt dragons to research magic."
The ancient Kaldorei were also the ancestors of the High Elf. While Arthas's evaluation was true, it was perhaps a bit too blunt.
"Kael, sometimes, being firm is not a bad thing. Didn't the ancient High Elves do the same?"
Arthas's voice echoed in the corridor, causing Kael'thas to fall into a daze.
