Chapter 7: Yang Wudi
The old man was tall and thin, with black hair. His complexion was ruddy, yet marked by several scars, and his expression was somewhat gloomy. His eyes, piercing with a fierceness, gave off a chilling look, like a sharp blade about to be unsheathed, a commanding presence.
He was none other than Yang Wudi, the current patriarch of the Po Yi Clan.
Yang Wudi looked at the young boy, yet his demeanor was remarkable, and spoke coldly.
"Whose child are you? I don't think I have any old friends of your age!"
Liu Yanyang bowed slightly, cupping his hands in a fist and saying respectfully, "Junior Liu Yanyang, I have come all this way here to make a deal with you, Senior. May I be honored?"
At the word "deal," Yang Wudi couldn't help but sneer. A six-year-old boy, he thought, wanted to make a deal with him? But Liu Yanyang's resolute gaze, his conversation and demeanor far superior to those of his peers, dispelled his disdain and said calmly, "Come in."
Then, Yang Wudi turned and walked into the mansion. Liu Yanyang quickly followed, walking behind him through the corridor and into a living room.
The two sat down. Someone brought them tea and then withdrew, closing the living room door.
Yang Wudi took a sip of his tea, looked at Liu Yanyang, and said calmly,
"About six years old, a level ten spirit warrior, with innate spirit power of at least level nine. Tell me, boy, which faction are you from?"
"What do you want from me with the Youxiang Qiluo Immortal Item?"
After taking a sip of his tea, Liu Yanyang stood up, clasped his fists in a bow, and then focused his spirit power in his right hand.
His Spirit, the Dragon Roar Spear, appeared in his right hand, emitting a soft, low hum.
At this moment, the Soul-Breaking Spear within Yang Wudi also emitted a series of low hums, as if the two were competing. Yang Wudi was horrified. "A top-tier weapon Spirit! This child's talent is truly terrifying."
"I have come to the Po Yi Clan alone, seeking spearmanship, a Spirit ring configuration, and a place to stay," Liu Yanyang said, each word powerful and resonant.
Yang Wudi was still wondering which major faction or hidden sect this child belonged to, and he was stunned by the boy's words.
He watched as Yang Wudi's expression shifted from confusion to astonishment and finally to a hint of anger, until he finally stared at him with a cold face.
Liu Yanyang took a deep breath and continued calmly, "I know Senior doesn't believe what I say, but this deal is harmless to you."
"I will stay with the Po Yi Clan for six years. During these six years, Senior will teach me the basics of spearmanship and marksmanship."
"Allow me to review your family's Spirit ring matching information, help me hunt spirit rings, and ensure my personal safety for these six years."
"In six years, the Youxiang Qiluo Immortal Product will be presented to me with both hands. If Senior doesn't believe me, you can poison me now. My life and property will temporarily be in your hands."
With these words, Liu Yanyang raised his head, looked at Yang Wudi calmly, and said nothing more.
"Hahaha!"
"Interesting! I disdain poisoning a six-year-old. I want to see what you'll be like in six years, boy."
Yang Wudi laughed heartily, not even sparing Liu Yanyang a second glance. He walked out the living room door and disappeared down the hallway.
Watching Yang Wudi retreat, Liu Yanyang slumped down in his chair, the back of his clothes soaking wet. He gulped down his tea, calming himself down a bit.
This hurdle was finally over, and the next few years would finally be peaceful.
A moment later, a young man entered and said, "The clan leader asked me to take you to the assigned residence."
Liu Yanyang stood, bowed, and thanked him. The young man returned the greeting.
He then led Liu Yanyang out of the living room, down the hallway, and into a courtyard.
The young man entered the courtyard and turned to Liu Yanyang.
"The clan leader said this will be your future residence. You've been so tired, you'll need to rest up today."
He then turned and walked over to the stone table. With a wave of his right hand, dozens of yellowed ancient tomes appeared on the tabletop.
"This contains all the information on the soul skills and soul beasts that my Po Yi Clan members have acquired through spirit rings."
"The clan leader will take you to hunt spirit beasts and obtain spirit rings tomorrow. You can take some time to look around and determine which spirit beast you need."
With that, he bowed and walked out of the courtyard. Liu Yanyang returned the bow and watched the young man leave. He went straight to the stone table, sat down, and began to read.
Night fell quietly, the moon shining brightly in the sky, the stars twinkling, and the evening breeze rustled gently, bringing a refreshing coolness.
Feeling the cool breeze, he finished flipping through the last of the materials in his hand and lightly arranged the books on the stone table.
Liu Yanyang stored them all in his storage soul guide and began to stroll through the courtyard.
After reviewing the records of the Po Yi Clan's spirit rings, his understanding of the optimal Spirit ring combination deepened.
"Shock," "Transparency," "Explosion," "Splitting" — the Po Yi Clan had spent hundreds of years experimenting to determine the Spirit ring configuration most suitable for the Po Shi Lance.
All of them were taken from the same spirit beast, combined with the Po Shi Lance's inherent soul-shattering properties and the Po Shi Clan's unyielding will.
This makes the Po Yi Clan invincible within their own rank, even allowing them to engage opponents of higher ranks.
However, their drawbacks are also obvious: their combat method is to lure the enemy into their own offensive rhythm. Their powerful and relentless attacking rhythm leaves the opponent unable to withstand, ultimately leading to their demise.
If the enemy ignores them, the constant pressure will lead to a period of rapid growth, followed by decline, and ultimately exhaustion.
Most importantly, the most fatal flaw of this fighting style is its unsustainable nature.
Therefore, Liu Yanyang does not intend to follow the Po Yi Clan's extreme offensive strategy.
Of course, their Spirit ring combination does have many advantages. For example, the Soul Breaking Spear's first Spirit skill, "Shock," is a very practical and functional Spirit skill that can disrupt enemy Spirit skills and repel them, similar to Sword Douluo's fifth Spirit skill, "Terrorize All Directions."
However, if his first Spirit skill were this functional Spirit skill, it would be somewhat useless.
Once he reaches the Soul Sage level, this skill will be less useful. He can, like Sword Douluo, acquire similar Spirit skills with his fifth Spirit ring.
Looking at the bright moon, a sense of loneliness welled up in his heart. It had been almost three months since he came to Douluo Continent.
He didn't feel any sense of belonging to this world. His relatives were gone, he had no friends, and no one to confide in.
Suddenly, he felt a little confused about where his future path would lead him. Finally, he laughed at himself and said, "Who cares? It won't be worse than now."
With a sigh, he turned around and left, returning to his room to rest.
...
The next morning, Liu Yanyang finished washing up and walked out of the courtyard gate to the gate of the Po Yi Clan's mansion. In front of the gate, a carriage was quietly parked.
