Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: A Fateful Encounter

Chapter 3: A Fateful Encounter

Before him stood a little... little girl, about six years old, with icy-blue hair braided into twin braids that dangled down her sides. Her fair, tender face shone with a pair of icy-blue eyes, adorned in a sky-blue Lolita princess dress.

Blinking those large, icy-blue eyes, she stared at him intently.

Startled, Liu Yanyang hesitated at the sight.

"Where...where is this? Who are you?"

"This is the Shui family in Tianshui City. My name is Shui Bing'er," the little girl stared at him for a moment before slowly speaking.

"The Shui family, Shui...Shui Bing'er, the future captain of Tianshui Academy, with the Ice Phoenix Spirit? I was going to seek Dean Shui's help, but I ended up meeting her daughter first," Liu Yanyang thought to himself.

She watched the little boy's expression grow startled at her name, then return to normal.

The scrutiny in her eyes intensified, and she frowned, "Do you know me?"

"I heard my elders mention you, so you saved me?" Liu Yanyang quickly explained, seeing Shui Bing'er's scrutinizing gaze.

The original novel describes Shui Bing'er as calm and intelligent, and she was right! At only six, she was already quite meticulous, able to guess his thoughts through his subtle expressions.

"Yes!" Shui Bing'er replied warily.

"Thank you very much, little sister," Liu Yanyang smiled, then began to ponder.

Shui Bing'er was only six years old now, so Tang San was only four, still being exploited by his good father in the Holy Spirit Village. (P.S. This is based on the manga setting; he was 16 years old and level 43 when he appeared.)

Qian Renxue was thirteen, now the eldest prince of the Heaven Dou Empire. Bibi Dong still controlled the Spirit Hall, so he just needed to stay safe and develop steadily.

"Little sister?" Shui Bing'er looked at Liu Yanyang, who was about her own age, in disbelief, her eyes flashing with anger as she spoke unhappily.

"Who's the little sister? How old are you?"

Liu Yanyang's thoughts were interrupted, and he frowned slightly. Seeing Shui Bing'er's slightly aggressive expression, he said awkwardly, "Sorry, I just woke up, and my head is a little foggy."

As expected, he was half asleep, and he hadn't yet figured out that he was a six-year-old. In his previous life, he was 22. Logically, his mental age should be 28, putting him in his late twenties.

After Liu Yanyang apologized, Shui Bing'er simply snorted, crossed her arms, and turned her head away, ignoring the impolite man.

"Well... well, where's your mother, Dean Shui?" Liu Yanyang asked, feeling a little guilty.

"She went to the Far North City," Shui Bing'er said without turning back.

"Going to the Far North City? It seems she knows something's happened in my family and is investigating!" Liu Yanyang thought to himself.

The journey from Tianshui City to Jibei City, with the dean's Soul Sage-level strength, would take at least a full day.

Liu Yanyang frowned, knowing he couldn't delay any longer. Saliss was likely already aware of the three deaths and would be furious. After all, he hadn't obtained the Ten Thousand Year Dragon Essence and had lost three capable men in vain.

He would undoubtedly dispatch more forces to search for him.

He rose from the bed, put on his shoes, and stood at the edge. Hearing the movement behind him, Shui Bing'er turned around.

Seeing Liu Yanyang standing, her voice trembled, "What...what are you doing?"

Liu Yanyang couldn't help but laugh. She had been so arrogant just now, but now she was so scared. "I'm not going to eat you."

He immediately clasped his fists and said, "Shui Bing'er, little... miss, I will always remember your life-saving grace. I thank you for your kindness, and I will repay you handsomely in the future."

With that, he ignored Shui Bing'er, who stood there stunned, and headed straight for the door. After a long pause, Shui Bing'er regained consciousness and immediately ran back out. Seeing Liu Yanyang already in the courtyard, she immediately shouted, "Wait!"

Hearing the shout, Liu Yanyang paused and turned to look at Shui Bing'er running towards him, a little puzzled.

Seeing the confusion on his face, Shui Bing'er stopped in front of him, panting slightly, and said, "My mother told you to rest here and not run around."

Hearing this, Liu Yanyang's heart warmed, and he smiled softly, "When Aunt Shui comes back, thank you for me. I have my own path to follow, so I won't bother you."

He then looked at the dazed little girl, smiled, and turned towards the door.

Suddenly, he remembered what his parents had said about Shui Bing'er's Spirit, the Ice Phoenix, which seemed to be difficult to control.

He turned to Shui Bing'er, his eyes flickering as he asked, "Can I see your Spirit?"

Seeing Liu Yanyang's determined yet curious gaze, Shui Bing'er nodded involuntarily.

"Ice Phoenix, possess!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Shui Bing'er's entire body was enveloped in a hazy blue light. A dazzling blue circle, with a somewhat dazzling shadow, floated behind her.

Seeing the bird-like shadow behind Shui Bing'er, it was hard to imagine it was the Ice Phoenix Spirit.

If it weren't for the unusual phenomenon of awakening her Spirit, no one would have recognized it. Most importantly, Shui Bing'er's body remained unchanged.

When a beast Spirit possesses a Spirit, it exhibits beastly characteristics. These characteristics vary depending on the Spirit and the individual, but a Spirit without any of these characteristics is rarely seen.

The Shui family's heirloom Spirit is Condensed Water Flying Luan. Shui Bing'er's Ice Phoenix Spirit evolved from this, and it was definitely a benign mutation; otherwise, her innate Spirit power wouldn't have reached level nine.

Therefore, the lack of beastly characteristics is likely due to the Spirit's mutation.

In his previous life, he had only read the comics of "Douluo Dalu" and knew very little about the original novel, so it would be difficult to understand it clearly.

At this moment, Shui Bing'er saw Liu Yanyang staring at her Spirit, and her ears blushed slightly. Apart from her family, no one had ever observed her Spirit so closely, which made her feel an inexplicable feeling.

Liu Yanyang, lost in thought, was destined to be unable to see Shui Bing'er's changes. Suddenly, Liu Yanyang remembered someone who was the standard answer to this question.
