Ivy's POV
Faith raised his hands in surrender as he backed away from us. "I was just worried about you two."
"That's complete nonsense." My mother's voice was sharp as a knife. "You wanted to dominate our run or tag along uninvited. But let me remind you—you are not Ivy's father. You don't have that right. You're merely her stepfather, and after today's stunt, even that position is questionable."
"Come on," Faith attempted to argue, but my mother wasn't having any of it.
"Come on nothing. Tell me, what exactly did you say when Jade shifted?" Her tone was challenging, daring him to speak the truth.
Faith averted his gaze, anger simmering beneath his composed exterior. "That was ages ago. I can't recall."
